When I think of 'Curvy' in a woman, the image of Linda Carter in her Wonder Woman outfit fills my head. To me, that is sexy and arousing. Strong and nurturing all in one. Confidant and self assured of how she looks. Ready to kick-ass and cuddle all at the same time.

AMEN!

I think it all depends on how "you" as a woman feel. I know I am a bigger woman, but I also know when I feel my man run his hands down my body, he can feel the curves just as well as I can. Every woman has a different hourglass figure and some women do not. I agree 100% on it being a term to make some one feel better of themselves as well. I have met women who are 300lbs and dress and feel like they are on top of the world, and I myself have looked at them and felt their beauty. Every women feels curvy and beautiful in their own way. We are our own definitions of curvy.

Well said Mrgl. I agree that every woman should feel beautiful in their own way. I know that the world doesn't always make that easy, but it's still the goal that should be had.

I like to talk about curvy...almost as much as i like to see and touch and taste curvy.

I think of a curve as being one of the most graceful shapes in nature. There is perfection in a curve, it's softness and way it pleases the eye. That's what I think of when I say a woman is curvy.

Curvy is a massive grey area I think.

It can range from skinny women with big tits and legs all the way up to just plain obesity.

Curvy = could be anythin

Whereas

Bubbly = fat

I got bloody gums and blisters in my mouth. Oh, wait....thought we were discussing SCURVY.....

"Curvy" is stupid. I find it to be a word that gives cover to girls who don't want to put down the mayonaise and either run or lift a weight. If you are calling yourself curvy, you know why. We all know why. America is disgusting with diabetes. Let's call shit what it is. You too guys......guys just don't say curvy....they say they're just fine, and they are in denial. Same thing.

What type of woman do you think of when you hear her described as "curvy"? Or, better yet, what do you mean when you yourself call a woman "curvy"?

I am often described as "curvy" and I know it's meant as a compliment from the men who say it to me. But, I sometimes can't help attaching a negative connotation to the word. Does it imply being overweight?

I do think curvy is used in pop culture now to describe people like Scarlett Johanson (who cannot be more than a US size 2), or Mindy Kaling, or Melissa McCarthy. So, it would seem that the word has morphed into a description of a body type, and not just for an overweight woman?

Thoughts? Men, women, please chime in.

Mindy Kaling and Melissa McCarthy are fat. Let's go with fat.

So, I and all of the women who've posted here are fat. Got it. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well.....are you slim? Are you athletic? People are either in shape or they are not. They are slim or they are fat. The only negative connotation for the word fat is the one you put on it yourself. If a person doesn't want to be described as fat, then get in shape. At the same time, fat does not equal unattractive....it just is what it is, no more or less. But typically people go, "I'll just go by curvy....that fits better than anything else and I don't mind it as much as 'fat,'" rather than, I don't know...putting aside the ice cream and cheeseburgers and putting in an hour a day of legitimate working out.

Just sayin.

where I agree that "curvy" is often used as a PC form of calling a lady "fat" where is your line between the two forms, slim and fat?
does a lady gain a pound or two and suddenly become fat in your eyes?

Reminds me of the story about a man telling a woman she needed to lose weight. Her response was that she could get slimmer, but there was nothing he could do to get smarter.

People are not either slim or fat. There is no clear definition of "in shape". One could be more healthy carrying more weight than someone who is the same height and slimmer. There is a role genetics play in a person's health. For anyone to think that the only reason someone is heavier is because of "ice cream and cheeseburgers" is ignorant at best. Certain medications also can determine whether a body burns or stores fat. It must be nice to live in a world where everything is either black or white.

Oh, and by the way, Sam is one of the sexiest posters on this forum. If you read her posts, you can also tell she is intelligent and very mannered. You could learn from her.

Ok bull and shit.

First, you make my point in significant part as I never said anyone was not intelligent or sexy. You threw that in as if to say, "you're wrong because this person is smart and attractive." Never said they weren't, but you sure slayed that straw man.

As for the rest - excuses. Again, you are in shape or not. When you carry a bunch of excess weight, you tend toward not being in shape. There is no dividing line necessarily - one's weight is a mere snapshot in time. Are you 165 coming down from 215? Or 165 on the way up? Because those two instances would tell two very different tales about your diet and fitness habits and work. If you make it a point to move your ass in the correct way, lifting heavy weights and doing resistance training, while eating healthy (perhaps Mediterranean diet, perhaps paleo - doesn't matter, so long as you have diet principles), then you are not going to be fat - not for very long anyway. There is no medication or gene that will overcome these principles. Perhaps it will affect it at the margins, but the principles still work. The bigger problem in America is a world where people tell fat people they aren't fat because it might hurt their feelings, and generally distort the definition of fat, allowing them to delude themselves. Fitness, for almost everyone, is not hard. Get up early, bust your ass for an hour each day, get some diet principles, and stick with the plan. Stop doing running or extended state cardio - that actually inhibits fat loss, and instead do short bursts of cardio/interval training while building muscle. But if your body isn't a furnace, and you are doing nothing to make it that, then you're probably going to be fat, if you aren't already.

Perhaps this will change the course:

How about we stop talking about obesity. No one gives two fucks. If you care about that, go have a cup of tea with Michelle Obama and discuss fat kids and lunch menus.

Let's talk about curvy women and big boobies.

She truly is. She's my number one celebrity at the moment. She's just so gorgeous. Her shape is absolutely perfect. And her face is stunning, too. I'm a huge fan and I love her Mad Men character.

Oo I do love her she is curvy and a red head mmmmm

Think the word curvy like language keeps evolving. it takes on different meanings to everyone. It's just also hard to lump someone into a category. to me it means curves bigger breasts and shapely hips with a smaller waist like a Christina Hendricks. It doesn't mean fat or obese. Women and I thinks it's growing with men views of their body is really being distorted by photoshop programs and teams of make up and lighting artist.

"it takes on different meanings to everyone."

Exactly. Which is why it is so easy to use as a cover for "fat." Curvy women are often attractive. Fat women.....eh. But curvy may encompass fat, whereas fat does not always encompass curvy. Like the way that every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square. I find that in shape girls don't often use curvy....they don't think of themselves as needing an excuse, even if they are thicker or "bigger boned" (whatever that is). Fat girls though??? They glom onto curvy like their peers glom onto cake!!!! Fat, not fat, whatever. You know what you are. If you have to ask, then you REALLY know.

She also happens to be wearing a corset in every one of those pics. Now, let's ask ourselves why??? Why would a person wear a garment that is designed to force your body into a shape, such as an hourglass, and/or reduce your waist size???

Probably not at all because you're fat, right????

Yes, and corsets affect their body shape as well, you quarter wit. Let's not rave about her "curves" when they are artificially created on a woman who is clearly plus-size. Take the corset off and see if the same assessment applies. Perhaps it does. And perhaps she is also fat.

If she's fat, then I love fat women. Holy shit you're one step away from retarded. And I mean to the other side of it.
