Luna's Haven~closed save for invitees.

Linden turned at the voice, surprised to hear it from the forest, not from within the cabin. Trying not to seem as if she were rushing, she glided down the steps to the edge of the forest when, unsure of herself, she stopped, eyes down and softly spoke.

"Well met, wandering Wolf. It has been too long since I saw your beautiful form -- so like a young oak."

A soft step, another. Until I was only a few feet away from the slender form standing just before my cabin.

"I came back, to see if you would join me by the beach at the Outlook, Linden. My haven isn't feeling very homey right now....and the waves cool and console me in a way the trees are not...right now."

*My quest has brought me deep into the forest, near the new home of a friend. This friend holds a special place for me. She has shown me her true quality when times were tough, and I treasure her all the more for it. What strength there is in times of adversity to be able to reach out of your pain to comfort another. She has that strength in abundance, and that sense of caring for those she allows close to her. Yet there is that private nature to her as well. I respect that.

My thoughts turn to her and the troubles she's experienced in recent times as my footsteps carry me along through the cool dark shade of the forest.

I feel akin to this place. Has there ever been an elf who doesn't love the forest like their own home? And after all, that is my quest: to find my home. Perhaps I am close to realizing it. This part of the forest feels good. It feels closer to what I'm looking for, but still my blood does not sing with the magic yet. This place has a different kind of magic, a kind that suits it's resident.

Ahead, I see a path, and a sign that marks her territory. I know better than to intrude, but perhaps I'll rest near here for a while. A brief pause on my journey won't be amiss, especially for the chance to visit her when she returns.

A turn down the path is all it takes to bring me within sight of her little cabin. I sense the wards. I will not pass them, nor intrude.

A wolf pup is there, waiting on the porch for her return. A memory returns to me, of when I was a little girl, playing in the forest. Another wolf pup, a playful afternoon with a new friend, my healer's empathy first making itself known. Sensing the feelings of another is a great way to make a new friend.

I approach the porch, careful not to intrude into his territory....or hers. A few feet away from the step, I find a place to sit, soft moss padding making it comfortable. He can come to me, if and when he wants to. A touch, a stroke of fingers through his fur, is all it will take to establish contact, to sense and be sensed in return. Wolves know. They are nearly empathic themselves. Maybe it's their other keen senses that tell them so much.

Like that other time, when Mamma wolf came home to find her pup playing with an Elvish whelp, she sensed no harm was meant. No intrusion. Only playful goodwill.

Like now.

He comes to me as I relive the memory, hands absently stroking his soft fur after letting him take a sniff to acclimate to me. A scratch beneath his chin, behind his ears, and he pounces into my lap, knocking me back into the forest detritus. Leaves and twigs entangle in my hair as I laugh playfully at the enthusiasm of this new friend. His licking tongue on my face assures me of his welcome.

I wonder what form her welcome will take.*

*slips up to the porch, looking for comfort and a break from a loud, obnoxious brat*

Hi Dragon. Sorry if I was being too loud and obnoxious. ;) I was just playing with Luna's wolf cub here.

Ah, I see. I don't think I know her. But if I meet anyone fitting that description, I'll let her know you have an open position for her. ;)

Home again. The scent of cinnamon, of pine, of oak, of peace. I make my way up the path way, feet leading me almost without thought, without sound. In the clearing, I see Gray fang. He is happy, ecstatic.

'Pretty Elf Lady, she came, played, for a while. Was lonely. She was nice. Invite her soon?'

I nod, lean down, run brisk fingers through thick fur.

"OK. I will tell Thyri to come and play, with you...and me."

Silence again as I dismiss my wards and step up on to the porch. I have writing owed. Feet carry me inside....and my house, my Haven, is dusty. I spend some time, cleaning. Finally, things smell...right. I pull out my lap top and go sit on the front porch.

Soft breezes caress my face. My head lifts, nose catching the passing scents of Linden, Thyri, Dragon kin and my Daddi. I am centered now. At peace. I think I can write.

Once the lap top loads, once my brain has emptied? I start pulling up stories, rereading, plotting, thinking. I know I owe Fr33k, vagablonde, possibly Sasha. My mind is filled with words. Words. Lots of words. What I need now? Ideas. A plot. Something.

*sneaks in, nibbling a vulfen, then sneaks out*

In the same boat Luna. Different names, but definitely the same boat. ... Why did I get on a boat? I hate boats. What was I talking about?

Why ARE you talking of boats?? I did get ONE post down!!

*head shake* Only three more to go!

The yelling startles me and I jump a little. Then I look around and realize I've found myself inside a wolfish haven and I become even more startled.

"How did I get in here? And I don't know why there were boats, I think I'm tired."

Tell her I said "Poke her till she posts:D "

I already DID!!! Using Daddi's puter. And she says~no poking or pouncing. She is on strike!

I guess you followed the pathway through the trees....and somehow you ended up in the clearing, by my cabin.

A wicked grin.

And YOU brought up the boats....

laughter.
