No, I don't use a mirror either. I did at first, but once you've been doing it a while, you get comfortable just doing it by feel.

But, guys? You who are getting the wicked red bumps and rash and ingrown hairs? You need to exfoliate. Not the exfoliating your wives/girlfriends/whomever do with their sugar scrubs and poufs and such. Chemical exfoliation. Look for salicylic acid in the ingredients list. Many moisturizers have it these days. I wish I could tell you an easy to find brand off the top of my head...I used to use an Aveda one and now I use a prescription lotion, but it's literally just lotion with salicylic acid. It's just cheaper to get by prescription, believe it or not.

Anyway, this will keep those hair follicles open if applied after you shave. Sloughs off the dead skin cells so the pores don't get clogged. Makes a HUGE difference! Seriously. Try it.

I had the worst problem with ingrown hairs and bumps, and tried everything. I discovered exfoliation is the key. Sure you can use salicylic acid and it may help some, but there is no substitute for true exfoliation. You don't need sandpaper, but scrubbing with a soapy facecloth should be enough, scrubbing being the key word. And the best advice from a female friend was to use anti-persipant (I use unscented speed stick) on the area everyday, but especially after shaving. Probably has the same effect as the salicylic acid (but for i found it to be much more convenient) and it worked wonders for me when combined with the daily scrub, even on non-shave days. I have not had any bumps forever and I only get an ingrown hair if I am on a hurry and forget to scrub.

hmm a few related questions

i typically shave it all too, however given the state of the economy and how expensive razors are now and days i find i go longer and longer in-between shaving. which leads me to 3 questions

1. I have very Corse stubbly hair when it grows in at ALL. is there any way to soften it up so that stubble wont rub raw too much.

2. Do any of the other methods of hair removal work at all? nair (not wax) or that gimmick as seen on tv infomercial where you rub that brush over it and you never have to shave... ect....

3. any one have any luck with laser hair removal?

oh and as for the hair BACK THERE i use those girl razors that have the soap bar all around the the blades that are designed as shower razors, and the are fairly nick and cut proof if your gental even if you arnt looking only going by feel only.

My wife introduced me to shaving shortly after we first met. While at first it was very much a pain in the ass with razor burn and shave bumps, I got over that quick. I tend to shave every day or every other day and will never let myself grow that full bush ever again. Everything is so much better, from jerking off, oral and sex. The feeling of two freshly shaven bodies together is awesome. I use the same brand of razor that I use on my face one of the 4 blade things with edge gel, no different from my face and I have no issues at all.

If overall cost is an issue, norelco makes a body groomer that has been reviewed as THE BEST way to shave down there and it retails around 35-40 bucks but you dont have the recurring cost of razors, and it is also water proof.

I've been keeping my entire body shaved clean for about 10 years now and really like the feeling. The first few months were problematic because of shaving rashes and ingrown hairs, but it's all good now and I really love being all smooth.

I use body wash and a regular hand razor to shave in the shower. I'll do my chest one day, my ass crack and thighs the next and my calves the third, so I end up with everything shaved about twice a week. My pubes get a touch-up almost every day and my balls about twice a week as well.

One product I've found that helps a lot with razor burn and ingrown hairs is called "Bump Stopper." You can find it in the section of hair-care products for black folks. It works wonders.

I keep my hair above trimmed, and shave my balls smooth. I've gotten many compliments on them, and the added sensation is phenomenal. I use a razor blade that has a few uses from shaving my face. It's not too sharp, and I don't fear cutting myself. I do it every week or so, and dry shave it. Never have problems with cutting, bumps...etc. I'll never go back to hairy balls.

For me, I use pure aloe immediately after I get out of the shower. After that has dried/soaked in, I use vitamin e oil (sold at places like Walgreens and CVS; it's a blend of vitamin e-- which is great for skin-- and a nice neutral oil). No real flavor to either product, and it makes my skin feel terrific.

I would like to try and shave my pubic hair, but would like to hear from guys that have done so or are currently completly bald.

Is it more hygenic and how does it feel??? And how does it feel during sex???

I have a friend that loves to do waxing. She is more than a little sadistic. She used to post her services on Craigslist and was able to get a lot of male clients. She did and still does a lot of full body waxes. One thing that she is emphatic about is to NEVER wax the scrotum area. The skin is too tender and can be torn.
