Maryland is for lovers?

Bicurious in Columbia

Finding it so hard to find someone in MD (Maryland 21045) to play with...
Was hoping to find a nice guy to explore with, be friends, maybe share hobbies/interests, and more.
I’m active/energetic/newbie fifties seeking slim/fit 20-30s - is there no hope?

Indeed it has.

Brainycat, Slugger -- I agree . . . . we should get some interesting banter going for the holiday season! I'll start: Not that she'd ever go for it, but my latest fantasy has my wife and I getting into a foursome with the hot European couple who moved in across the street from us. Anyone out there harbor -- or acted on -- a similar fantasy with Maryland neighbors/friends?

Did so with our neighbors, when we first moved into this neighborhood. Ten years and many a drunken parties gone by it became a reality. ;)

Got a bit quiet the past couple of months, eh?

Reading the latest posts here about it being quiet got me thinking that the overall mood of the country right now is somewhat pessimistic, and I've been finding myself thinking back to the late 70s, when Jimmy Carter made his famous "malaise" speech that didn't go over so well. It's funny how some of what I'm reading in the news reminds me of that time when I was just a high school kid.

I remember gas prices soaring .. and one of my high school teachers saying that we would never see gas prices under a $1/ gallon ever again -- of course by 1986 or so, I think they had fallen to like $0.86 / gallon. I remember all the talk about inflation during the 1976 presidential campaign, and how Gerald Ford made up these "WIN" buttons, which stood for "Whip Inflation Now". And of course, there was the hostage crisis in Iran, where every night the news started off with "This is the XXX day in captivity for the Americans being held hostage in ..." If you want to draw more parallels, we can think about the fall of Siagon, and refugees from Vietnam, and now we have a similar issue since we pulled out of Afghanistan as deftly as we did Vietnam, and left a bunch of our "friends" to fend for themselves.

Perhaps we are just in a bit of a funk in that here we are over 40 years later, still having the same problems, and seeming to make the same mistakes ... maybe we are just slightly depressed.

Anyone want to turn on some disco music? Dust off the Bee Gees, and start singing "Staying Alive ... Staying Alive ...".

Still lurking. Haven't had much to say or much to contribute for a while. I've been feeling kind of burned out on life recently. I need to find a new passion.

It has been a rough couple of years for everyone; health, politically, personal. To have the pandemic along with the extreme political divides makes one wonder about the future. All we can do is keep plowing on.

In the 100 years I have been on lit, my interest in the site always waxes and wanes probably because I have never found that one person to make things interesting. Lately I have been pouring more of my free time into writing stories as a way to work out sexual frustration. Hopefully once spring comes and we can get out outdoors things will pickup and get better. Hang in there Logui.

Good to see you back on Lit, StarGazer!

Hey spurtman. Yeah, I come and go from Lit. Will see if I can catch some lady's attention to keep me around for a while but probably not. Looks like nothing has been going on the past few months.

I am happy to see some action here. We have been low key here ... rarely go out together. Mainly, one of us is just running errands, so fewer "exciting" car rides together.

Hopefully warmer weather will lead to more outdoor fun for all.

For some of this craziness I was going into the office everyday but now that I am working from home there is a lot of not leaving the house for days at a time. Looking forward to warmer weather and longer days also so I can get out in the evenings.

I have learned something while watching the Olympics. I learned about Slut Strands. It is faceframing strands of hair that dangle down from the helmet of women snowboarders. I noticed them during the Olympics but did not know the name until I read about them. Almost every female snowboarder I watched had them. Sometimes people involved in snowboarding and skiing are so bundled up it hard to determine the sex of the person so the slut strands identify the person as female. I don't know who thought of this idea but I love it.

I noticed those too. I am glad that I now know the rest of the story.

Who remembers Paul Harvey and the "Rest of the Story"?
Hey SG,

He was syndicated on the radio during the 1970s, which is when I remember him from. I used to listen to Paul Harvey on WOR in New York and I think he was on in the evenings sometime around when WOR aired the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, which I used to listen to as I did my homework. What is wild is that you can find all of the old CBS RMTs either on the Internet Archive, or on YouTube -- and a lot of them were recorded off the air, mostly from WOR in New York, and WFAA in Dallas. Some of them have the original commercials and top of the hour news reports, including some talking about Watergate, some talking about the 1976 presidential campaign, and so they are fascinating time capsules.

With Paul Harvey, I always liked his "rest of the story" 2 or 3 minute segments. This is the one that I remember about Elvis:
