you are correct. the pigments, when applied should go on rather smooth. Except at the end of course, but that's much much later.

I'm afraid I cannot tell any of the strokes that they are favo(u)red any more or less than their fellow strokes. for they each and all have their purpose and place. the little ones for those details. the great long ones for the clouds in the sky. Perhaps that final one that is simply slung at the canvas.
