I slept too well last night, to the point I didn't really have control over it anymore, but you're right Glad, losing an hour this morning still sucked.
I'm always supportive of my friends interests be it athletic, artistic or.... a bit of both.

I'm okay I guess. Tired. Partly due to the time change I suppose and partly due to trying to get my spare room cleaned out for the little boy. Lots of carrying boxes upstairs to the attic.

So tomorrow is the mother's court date for allowing her kids to have excessive truancy. I'm kinda wondering how it will all shake out.

If I told you the whole story, it would make you furious as a mother. Suffice it to say that this is one of those instances where the kids being away from her is for the best. Their older sister, Jullie was already living with me since last summer when her mother got drunk and kicked her out by driving off and leaving her at a gas station in a town about 35 miles from where they were living at the time.
So now the mother has decided that she cannot take care of the kids any more and wants to give Jullie power of attorney to take the kids and act as their guardian. Jullie is making minimum wage as a hotel desk clerk. So really, giving the kids to her when she lives with me is giving them to me to take care of. I have worried about these kids for a long time, so I think this is an improvement. But I do have concerns about how tightly this will be stretching my resources.

She's driven off (while drunk) and left the younger kids before too. And has hit and slapped Jullie on a few different occasions. The kids were living with her in a motel room which she usually paid for by hooking or by selling EBT benefits for cash. They've changed schools at least 5 different times this school year (since August). It's just a mess.
I do have neighbors who are church goers and they've helped me so far with a dresser. They are looking for a twin or bunk bed for me for the little boy, but so far no luck. In the meantime he's sleeping on a sleeper sofa.

Some churches have funds to assist purchasing clothes, supplies, etc. My mother is responsible for the out reach program at my church and is constantly helping find furniture, high chairs etc. for people in similar situations.... Okay maybe not totally similar but situations in which people need assistance that they may not be able to get through the state.
