I think I used to have that braid myself as part of a Willie Nelson Halloween costume. A little redder I think. Of course neither Willie nor I are red anymore. (Yeah kinda "Willie and a half", but you should have heard me do "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain")

Kim! In that colour it is most likely 100% acrylic, so no wool and very soft.

And yet again it is interetsing how different people react to the same picture.
The sweater looks very soft (and not wool) to me, but I love wearing wool without a shirt. And not only soft commercial wool, the handmade rough is nice too. Never could understand even as a kid what everybody was complaining about.
The braid... Em, looks like a normal school braid to me. Most adults don't wear them around here, but I've never heard a kid complain about it. I had long hair on and off for the most of my life and usually made tight braids.
The bracelets... If they are sized right, most likely she does not feel them at all after the first few minutes of getting used to them.
And the collar. That one I am not sure how (un)comfortable it is, but my guess would be that it's more of a fashion statement, rather than an actual torture device.
To me the eek factor here is her choice of the clothes (soft warm pastels) combined with his choice of the collar and cuffs (cold in-your-face metal). So it's a bit of "I don't care what your style is, you will wear what I tell you to wear."
