probably for two different reasons, i.e. put some poetry in it!!!!

the main attraction (for me) is what is done with the end of the line, if he goes to an inane rhyme scheme, he has pretty a cut above standard fare, he doesn't, he uses a wide variety, most be seen and heard to be believed (how is that for suspence building?)
btw, this has been used by at least three others...

Sadly I learned he has died, jd4george was a true gentleman, one of the better poets, i.e. helpful, talented. The last comment in this is mine, it contains no content, as I know he will not see it, it is a marker to prevent me voting twice.
First Stanza:

Red polished fingers
curled up against
the suffocating darkness
a child's hand clutching
20 Kenyan shillings
her existence
measured this way
40 cents at a time

missed but not forgotten

although not in the sexual area it has aspects of sex

noted for two things
one a decisive lack of punctuational prowess (?) count 'em!!!!

This is a really intriguing read Kinshasa by Desejo

Desejo delivers sounds, imagery and weaves all here elements together interlocking the themes before they appear later in the poem, the words are brilliant and there is more joy to be found when you Google some key words. Looks a little comment starved to me
