"On the Job" Story Event 2024

Oh, hmmm... one story (unrelated to this challenge) I'm working on includes a scene with two girls watching porn. I describe several trite porn scenarios, including, "a buxom actress dressed as a sexy librarian was trying to assist two muscle-bound college jocks in finding a particular book in the stacks". Maybe I could flesh out that idea a bit.
Yes, please!

My 'librarian' is working in the magical library at the Unseen University. She was re-shelving books and ended up in a restricted area known as the "Plain Brown Paper Wrapper" section and begins to learn some highly specialized magic. Now all she needs is an assistant. I started this one today and am holding up at 4000 words for the day. Back to it tomorrow, probably wrap it up by next week.

They can reward her once she finds the book or punish her if she keeps having issues. Perhaps an overachiever cheerleader slash honor student babe or an older librarian boss lady can assist, then join in the celebration or punishment as you prefer.

A ruling, please?

I have a tale which would work very well for this, I think. I figure it will wind up at maybe three Lit pages, but it starts out with a very short section (maybe 150 words) in which the MFC unexpectedly gets called into work. Technically, that isn't at work, but it’s work-related and it sets the scene for the rest in a convenient way. Is such an 'introduction' permitted?

Thanks

It's Heyall's event, but personally I think it'd be ok. I had my characters wander in and out of the worksite on work related tasks.

Thank you for bringing this up. I re-read what I had and found a long bloated introduction that took place outside of the workplace. I had to re-write it to be part of a lunchroom conversation. (They have lunchrooms in magical libraries, right?)

DONE!

Four days, 8,000 words and it's cute. I like it. The word count may go up a bit as I edit it, but it's something I'm happy with.
Notify the trolls in my fanclub it's ready.

Quick question - I have a sweet little epilogue for The Assistant Librarian that I plan to post at the same time as The Assistant Librarian. It doesn't take place in the Unseen University (the work place) so I'm going to post it separately outside of the event. I was thinking of mentioning The Assistant Librarian Epilogue at the end of the story. Is that kosher? Does anyone have a problem with that? if so I'll just not mention it at the end of The Assistant Librarian.

Ohoo Kaye...
As one of my One Off 1x: stories I am working on involves (1971) the two Stewardesses entertaining the rest of the crew in a hotel during a scheduled stop over. They are effectively working, i.e. not on leave and they incorporate some work related activity.
I hope to have it ready for the deadline and hope it is close enough to being 'On the Job'.

I was looking forward to this challenge but alas, I don't think I have the time nor energy to participate anymore. I didn't really have any amazing ideas for a story where every single scene was set at a place of work either - that limitation is interesting but difficult to work with for a lengthier piece. Wishing everyone else the best of luck though, and looking forward to reading the contributions when time allows for it.

I have a scenario in my head... alas, I started the Geek one thinking that was the first challenge. Oh well. Same as my great idea for a xmas tale came to me on the 28th December.

The rules aren't strictly enforced, there's no cash prizes involved, so it should be fine.

Eh, mine's even more rule-bendy. It's a story within a story within a story, and each of them is a job location, so yours is probably just fine.

That's going to happen no matter what I do
Agree. But why give the boo-birds and the one-bombers more ammunition? Still, totally up to you and as said above, no prizes and no awards, so less of a big deal.
