"One Night in XXX” Story Event: Official Support Thread

OK, so I guess I'll add a "One Night in Beirut" story, if no one's already taken that location.

Cool! Mine won't be the only political intrigue story. If I can get it done in time. I have significantly more faith in your speed than in mine, Keith.

I recall P.J. O'Rourke's HOLIDAYS IN HELL mentioning 1980s surfers riding the waves off Beirut as artillery shells splashed nearby. Sounds like hot fun.

I wonder if they were inspired by Apocalypse Now - reality imitating art - or if it was just a co-incidence.

"Charlie don't surf!"

How about "One Night In Suburbia?" That was how everyone referred to the place where "Edward Scissorhands" took place.

Well "One Night in McMurdo" took an odd turn and is being eviscerated and rebuilt and maybe, just maybe will make it. But probably not.

On the other hand, "One Night in Beijing" which flowed out in a marathon stream of consciousness is complete except for some spelling and the usual fight with the grammar checker in Word.

I may focus on "One Night in College" since that is nearly complete. It started life as "The Bet", but just fit the theme better.

All of these did distract me from overediting "One Night in Chloe" so that will make an appearance as well.

Melissa, Texas? A one-laugh story could be told about a waitress named Melissa at a diner at the edge of Melissa, Texas, I suppose.

My Beirut one has been written and is now in review.

Ok. Mine is settled. It will be One Night in Foxton. And it will be finished soon. I had a few doubts about it since it is such a small town in NZ, but I decided to deliberately misname the school the characters break into and I'll put a disclaimer at the beginning that all the events and characters are fictional. It's a town of 2-3k people so... Yeah. Maybe necessary.

Vilnius isn't that much about the place itself so I'm not going to submit that one for this challenge.

This isn't getting me any closer to writing. Damn.

Maybe you need to put the forum away for two weeks and put that energy into the story.

Gormaz was mostly done a month ago. It's been rewritten once, beta-read once, and edited again. I figure I can let it rest for a few more days and read through it before I submit it. Of course, there will still be typos and glitches.

I know, I know. When I'm on forums, I'm not writing. When I'm off forums, I'm likely 1) elsewhere, or 2) writing, or 3) defunct. #1 Elsewhere could be various music-art-UFO-conspiracy sites, or just rolling in the little RV, far from any WiFi signals. #2 Writing could be ominous. #3 Defunct is the default condition. I dunno about #4 Other.

The Jarte text editor is up. The story skeleton is around. I just need to work. WORK! [/me cites Maynard G. Krebs] But the voices in my head are quiet...
