Hi jazzerbear. I actually started the thread as did I create the poll. And I did so, probably more to see what sore of reaction we get on an erotic site as this. you mention "these issues are related, but distantly", I guess I think they are more closely related. In any event, its kind of fun to see how others reply. I view many Republicans as being a bit hypocritcal, as has been demonstrated over and over these past few years. And I will also think there are many Dems with similar hypocracy. There really is no science that went into my thoughts on this thread.

Anyway, I didn't really say much but thanks for your thoughts. I like to read Monique's threads. I miss your avatar or what ever it is called. You are cute and you have a REAL head on your shoulders...

Althought the questions were very vanilla and by no means am I liberal when it comes to social issues, but there questions in that area were very limited. But still, very cool.

monique1971, Please forgive me, I was sloppy in my writing and Madison deserves better. I’m just big on Jefferson and much of what he had to say about freedom and individual rights (oh God that could open up a whole new thread). Anyway, he had such an influence on the thinking at the time (“Jeffersonian Democracy”) that if I drop his name in…… OK OK it was sloppy.

Oh, it's okay. I was just being my pedantic little self.

Madison and Jefferson corresponded often during the Philadelphia Convention, so arguably J. may have had some impact on the proceedings there even though he wasn't in attendance.

When I hear "I support the troops" I always have to wonder how they do it. I mean, are they sending money? gifts? knitting socks? cutting back on fuel usage?

I never supported it.. I am not for a preemptive war....

Well, let me explain it to you then...

When you're over there, thousands of miles away from home, fighting a war that you didn't want, getting only news reports that say you suck, the war sucks, and America sucks, it's nice to see the occassional bumper sticker forthe troops. It's nice to see the yellow ribbon magnets on the trunks of cars. It's good to know that people support you if only with good thoughts. It's great to get a package of cookies from someone you don't know in a town you've never heard of with a note that says thanks. It can be enough that they have the bumper sticker.

Believe me, I know. I've been there.

With that said, Our house leans pretty far right in most areas, but the whole Libertarian thing is very appealing. I think that they are a little too anarchist right now, but I have hopes that they will develop into a viable third party, which we desperately need. As someone said earlier, the 2 party system is broken, and in my opinion, a joke.

But hey, when oral sex isn't sexual relations, and when our commander in chief doesn't show up for Air National Guard weekends, what do you expect?

I totally agree. There is a faction of the libertarian party that refer to themselves as limited libertarians and they don't support the anti-nationalist sentiment completely. The Libs aren't really anarchist's though, they are about individual liberty over borders. I am enough of a nationalist to not like some of that too. However, i love their concepts of freedom and liberty.

I'm with you. But, I also think that without a solid government, not BIG government, people would destroy themselves. We're just that stupid deep down.
