Punk rock, Hardcore, Oi!, Garage, Metal, Ska, Indie, Power Pop, Northern Soul (and whatever else) Discussion and Anarchy thread

Page 41 is glitched for me, so I’m just gonna post some stuff to get to page 42.

I heard that Fred Smith from television passed away today.

Sad news. According to variety:

Smith started out playing with Angel and the Snake, which then became Blondie. In 1975 he left Blondie to replace Richard Hell in Television. After the band broke up in 1978, he played on solo albums for the Television members Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, as well as for The Roches, Willie Nile, Peregrins and The Revelons. Smith also played bass and toured with The Fleshtones.

Hourglass is a great song from Babylon and On.

This was always my favorite:

I have strong opinion on music.

So here goes.

I think Squeeze and The songwriting team of Tillbrook and Difford was THE songwriting duo of the late 70s and early 80s.

Squeeze songs were beautifully composed, well written and played. They could do no wrong!!

Seen them only 2x, but they absolutely killed it both times I saw them. I was blown away.

Some
Of my favorites. Maybe one of the best songs ever written.

Today’s beam on the monthly music thread was breakup songs, or fuck you songs. I made a pretty good playlist when I got divorced the second time in 2011.

I’ve recently gotten out of the army and come back from a deployment and walked into a divorce. My head was in a bad place and I was angry as fuck.

But isn’t that what punk rock is for?

Everything mostly turned out ok. All is forgiven… but it was a fun playlist at the time!

A few more break up punk rock Classics, and fuck you songs…

I think this last one is my favorite breakup song of all time. Told only in the way Sam the Sham could tell it, but an even better cover by Roy Loney & The Young Fresh Fellows

I don’t think hardly anyone ever even looks at this thread, but what are some of your favorite break up and fuck you songs??

I’m sort of fucking off this afternoon from work and posting here. Don’t tell my boss.

And the perfect album thread I was just talking about how great the sir lord Baltimore album is.

This is early heavy metal at its finest in my opinion.

So good I gotta share a few vids.

Haven’t seen or heard too much love for the business on this thread. I would say in the 1983/84ish timeframe, they were one of my favorite bands.

Maybe a little bit one dimensional, but a band that I enjoyed seeing many times.

Last saw them at the Brighton bar in Long Branch, New Jersey maybe 2014 ish…

RIP Roddy fitz

I would definitely put this song in there with punk rock Classics. An Oi! Classic for sure!

What’s his name??

I don’t really enjoy putting anyone down, but if anyone thinks Green Day or blink-182 is punk rock, this was punk rock when I grew up.

Hey, you kids, get off my (suburban) punk rock lawn! 😂

So garage is in the title and one of the prompts for the song challenge this week with the trippiest vids.

Here’s a few.

If I would describe what acid rock was, I would play this video.

⬆️⬆️⬆️. Yes! Very good. I like!

Wow - this band totally slipped under the radar for me.

Excellent drummer. Love how the drums are out in front of the mix.

Nothing not to love abt this song!
