New toy dolls lp imminent. The organisers are good people, doing it a long time.. but very closed shop. You got to know the right people to get on and play. No meritocracy
I can appreciate that. I guess some bands are just names mostly.

I saw the sham 69 was on the bill. Wonder if it’s Jimmy Pursey etc in the band? Or is it that fake band that’s parading around because one of the members knew one of the original members or some such shit…

We saw them a few summers ago. For 15 bucks it was good to see a sham 69 cover band, I guess.

I have never seen the Toy Dolls. ☹️

I saw that Marko from punk 77 and Martin from Menace wrote a book about menace… I don’t think there were any originals left, and I could find one online only for $81.

Tempting… But I just don’t know if I could fork over all that money. It was 511 pages . It tells the story of their skinhead youths, then prog rock , their conversion to a punk rock band to becoming a regular supporting sham69 I want many consider the beginnings of street punk/oi!

I saw them at the 10,000 tons of TNT festival in Hartford, Connecticut (along with cockney rejects, red alert, the addicts, infa-riot and a few others.

Great nite.

And of course…

And (don’t think they got the lyrics right but still good vid)

We have this one on our jukebox.

Heard this beaut this morning working out. I love the saints!

Altho, I must confess I heard this version first. Maybe in 86ish.

Man it’s good to be home after a week long work trip. I love Canada but there ain’t no place like home.

I just posted this on the Pefect albums thread.

Kill Tunes by the Leaving Trains is a perfect album. Their first album (well down blue highway) is a jangly paisley underground classic. And some of the songs on this album have that feel.

But where the album really takes off are the punchy early punk numbers. They do a great version of Private Affair by the Saints and a bunch of other rockers.

And a great nihilistic love song- Vicki (can’t find a video) and the best song on the album… ⬇️

There’s no filler - it’s all killer.

Kill Tunes is a perfect album.

Released on this day in 1980: Turning Japanese by The Vapors.

One of the greatest power pop songs ever made, and also one of the best one hit wonders…

Yesterdays music challenge was for a song that spells out something.

I chose a good song by The Leaving Trains but forgot this nugget!

Till today of course.

Motörhead- R.A.M.O.N.E.S.

Thinking of this classic album today… what a masterpiece. They were so chaotic that I can’t believe Joan Jett was able to bring them together to make such a great record.

The last page seems to be glitching out.

I’ll see if moving to another page will help it. I don’t know if it’s a specific video or posting several vids per post that does it.
