Functionality...?
I think it shows (beauty-wise) when a woman lives well.
A woman who tortures herself in the gym and only eats rationally (or even irrationally little) can never be as beautyful as a woman who doesn't go to the gym because she'd hate it and eats because she enjoys it.
It becomes unsexy when it's no longer "real". An extremely athletic woman who enjoys her sport and eats what makes her better at it, will still be beautyful. But when winning and being the best become more important than anything else, chances are she'll sacrifice some of her beauty along the way.
Or, for the example of a woman who enjoys eating: when she starts eating out of frustration or as a compensation for something she feels is missing in her life, it might become too much for her looks...
when someone loses the ability to function "properly" (walking, climbing stairs, doing out-door work, sitting/standing with good posture), they loose beauty.
The same goes for men, I guess.
This might be very simplified, but I think there's truth in it.
