Republican Leadership Is A Threat To America

Cy-Fair ISD is the district adjacent to where I live. It is one of the most prosperous and smartest districts in the state (and 4th largest overall). For the moment anyway.

The Christian Taliban has made a coup on the School Board of Trustees. First the Trustees gave themselves the power to edit anything already approved by the ultraconservative Texas Board of Education (!!!). They were unable to get their preferred textbook about dinosaurs co-existing peacefully with man approved, so they decided to disallow any teaching of various commonly accepted era (Jurassic era for one....so dinosaurs never existed now insofar as public schools are concerned).

Ice age? Never happened.
Vaccines? They don't exist and never have.
Biological reproductive systems? Not in OUR school systems.

The trustees have NO power to mandate what is taught, so they've flipped the script and declared they have ABSOLUTE power over what IS taught, and they're flexing.

where in the world is trump, indeed...

his team suggested they are 'trying something new and shutting up'
trump's history would make that a seemingly impossible claim

he did one virtual appearance on July 4th

so is he trying to convince putin to be ready to get him out of the country if he loses in november or, maybe earlier if he's sentenced to jail before that?
have boxes of documents not yet returned been flown from Bedminster and made their way onto the russian plane?

who knows?

House Republicans Want to Ban Universal Free School Lunches

On Wednesday, the Republican Study Committee, of which some three-quarters of House Republicans are members, released its 2025 budget entitled “Fiscal Sanity to Save America.” Tucked away in the 180-page austerity manifesto is a block of text concerned with a crucial priority for the party: ensuring children aren’t being fed at school.

Eight states offer all students, regardless of household income, free school meals — and more states are trending in the direction. But while people across the country move to feed school children, congressional Republicans are looking to stop the cause.

The budget — co-signed by more than 170 House Republicans — calls to eliminate “the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) from the School Lunch Program.” The CEP, the Republicans note, “allows certain schools to provide free school lunches regardless of the individual eligibility of each student.”

Republicans take credit for laws passed by Democrats

In Tennessee, Republican Governor Bill Lee boasted that the state had “secured historic funding to modernize Memphis infrastructure with the single-largest transportation investment in state history.” All the Republicans in the Tennessee delegation opposed the measure, leaving Democratic representative Steve Cohen to provide the state’s only yes vote. Indeed, Tennessee senator Marsha Blackburn posted on social media that “Americans do not want [Biden’s] ‘socialist Build Back Broke’ plan.”

In Alabama, Senator Tommy Tuberville boasted about a bridge project funded by a $550 million Department of Transportation grant, writing: “Since I took office, I have been working to secure funding for the Mobile bridge and get this project underway.” But as Representative Terri Sewell, an Alabama Democrat, pointed out, Tuberville voted against the bill that provided the money.

Like Governor Lee and Senator Blackburn, Tuberville knows such government policies are enormously popular and so takes credit for them, even while voting against them.

The Clown Show Party does nothing, so it tries to take credit for Democratic Party accomplishments. 😄

It figures that Tommy Loserville and Marsha “Imbecile” Blackburn are leading examples.
