"A new Data for Progress poll conducted as part of a partnership with Vox backs up that assessment. The poll surveyed 1,138 likely voters nationally between April 16 and April 19, and it finds that much of what the 800-page bill claims to do is overwhelmingly popular."


"More than 80 percent of respondents said they supported preventing foreign interference in elections, limiting the influence of money in politics, and modernizing election infrastructure to increase election security. More than 60 percent of respondents supported requiring nonpartisan redistricting commissions, a 15-day early voting period for all federal elections, same-day registration for all eligible voters, automatic voter registration for all eligible voters, and giving every voter the option to vote by mail," Prokop reported.

Despite the bill's overwhelming popularity among the American People, Mitch McConnell and other Republicans in positions of power are vehemently opposed to the bill. They’ve launched misinformation campaigns against it and called it “anti-democratic.” But their scare tactics don't seem to be working.

Republicans have been working for months to make it harder to vote ever since they lost the White House and the Senate in the 2020 elections. Republicans want to suppress the vote and keep dark money flowing to their coffers and exert more control over elections. Republicans don't feel they can win elections without voter intimidation, voter suppression, gerrymandering, dark money and disenfranchisement. As a result, the For the People Act scares the shit out of them, however, they don't know how to prevent it from being signed into law.

I'm an independent and have on occasion voted republican. But after trump and especially have Jan 6, I'll never vote republican again. I also had friends and family who are trumpists. They're no longer in my life.
