My mom crashed yesterday and was rushed into surgery for a temporary pacemaker. She was in surgery 2 hours today for a permanent one. All is good now. The valve that regulates heart beat was 100% blocked.

I'm at the airport now to go to KC.

Good morning!

Hope you are all doing great!

Mom is probably, hopefully going to an inpatient rehab today. She is not to use her left arm so that the connections can attach to her heart. We've heard anywhere from 1-8 weeks. So I really have no idea. Well, she can't get up out of a chair, off the toilet or out of bed by herself if she can't use it. So I'm glad she wants to go.

They do 3 hours of physical therapy a day. That is going to work her hard!!! But if she wants to remain independent, she needs it!

It's so hard as people get older and face losing independence. She has flat out lied to docs to make her sound more active. But they know the truth.

I walked 6000+ steps last night. Ok, here is the flipping truth!!! It was 79º and 71% humidity. I was dying! I was soaking wet! Seriously, I'd rather walk in 110º with 10% humidity any day of the week! What a difference! And my hair!!! lol.... if I think my morning curly bed head looks bad.........

I'm sitting at my Mom's dining room table having coffee and writing this. She's lived in several houses but this dining room set came with us from Chicago in 1969 when I was 16 and we moved to KC. I hope and pray that rehab gets her strong enough to continue living here.
