Slippery bodies during sex

Scaly, have you considered using a silicone lube?

I've felt it in the store, and read the warnings about just how slippery and long-lasting it is. We're getting some for handjobs and the like. It's conditioning to the skin, comes off with soap and water (that's the only way it comes off, though a light coat for the moisturizing properties might not be a bad thing), and doesn't stain.

I've heard good things about and felt ID Millenium (link to Amazon...it's a great deal), so that's what we're getting, but I'm sure any of them would be great for your purposes. I looked into the new Wet version, though people said the bottle leaked, and it was a comparable price, so the ID wins.

Olive oil and vegetable oils contain saturated fat. Does anyone know if saturated fats can be absorbed into the bloodstream through your skin?

I can just see it now:

Doctor: your cholesterol level has gone through the roof! What have you been eating?

Me: Nothing different, I still take the meds, drink 1% milk, and watch the saturated fats and trans fats.

Doctor: Well something is causing it to skyrocket.

Me: Should I avoid rubbing olive oil all over my body?

On a quick search I came up with this.
Admittedly they are probably trying to sell their own stuff, but food for thought.

In the grocery store the other day I saw a product that made me think of this thread:

Neat Sheet

I had to bite my tongue to not laugh loudly in the aisle of Safeway :D

This product has a lot of possibilities....

The things you find at Safeway! Almost as much fun as Target.

I keep a large one in my car to haul kids, golf stuff, plants, etc. We also sat on it at a picnic in July, and I'll go with water-resistant, but the dampness of the grass definitely could be felt. With oil, liquids, or something really messy, I wouldn't trust it to protect the bedding/carpet underneath on its own. It's a great idea for less-messy stuff though! :)

Ah come on now, there's just something delightfully decadent to the look ont he face of the young lady behind the register at Walmart when you come up to the checkout stand with 3 gallonsof Wesson oil and a roll of plastic drop cloth! :nana:

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I really like the thought of using olive oil.

thanks.
Here's a beginning of an answer, taken from an article on the physiology of the use of essential oils in aromatherapy. Since it's in the aromatherapy tutorial at the Creighton University School of Medicine alternative medicine web site, the fact that the article points to only negligible absorption of oils into the bloodstream ought to be taken as a sign of reliability. The article from which this was taken was written by a physician.

"Although the theory of absorption is widely accepted among proponents of aromatherapy, there is no scientific evidence to support it. At least one web-based aromatherapy source openly admits that this theory of absorption is a myth (The Guide to Aromatherapy). Sylla Shepperd-Harger, author of the book "The World of Aromatherapy" states clearly that, from proper aromatherapy experiments where oils are applied to the skin of a person with a separate air supply, there is NO evidence that significant amounts of the oils go through the skin. Some studies do reveal that very small amounts of essential oils show up in the blood but the miniscule amount has no proven therapeutic value. Similar studies by dermatologists reveal the same conclusion. In fact, they have reported that those oils that do have penetrating effects are the same ones that are likely to cause irritation and allergic reactions."

Based on the fact that essential oils are not absorbed into the bloodstream in anything but neglible amounts, I would be willing to bet that the same is true of olive oil and other vegetable oils.

More research to come, as keeping the cholesterol count down is also one of my concerns.

MWY - thanks for doing this legwork. This is what I was hoping to hear. Now I just need to find a way to either a) ditch the kids with a reliable person for an overnight, or b) get a reliable person to stay here with the kids overnight while we get away.

I think b is the better option so the kids can still do their usual activities, though finding a reliable person may prove difficult

I'm thinking Mount Washington Grand Hotel.
If we lived closer, we could do a kid-swap. I like the idea of staying at the MW Grand. Never been there but I have heard that it's a beautiful place. Another venue that I have always wanted to try is the Bretton Woods center up near that town in NH that votes at midnight.

Bretton Woods in actually near MW Grand. I've beet to bretton Woods but not to MW Grand (my wife worked at the MW Grand one summer many years ago, before they renovated the place - I think it would make a nice surprise).

maybe you're thinking of The Balsams in Dixville Notch. They're the dudes that vote first in the nation. Never been there either.
Yes, I was confusing The Balsams with Bretton Woods. My parents have been to both places many times and the pictures always looked spectacular. One of my favorite memories is of hitchhiking across Route 2 a few times one summer while I was doing a lot of mountain climbing in the region. Even now I like to take the scenic route occasionally when I drive from Chicago to Maine and follow Route 2 from Vermont across New Hampshire into Maine.

Rather than olive oil, one might consider using one of the nuttier oils such as Peanut or Walnut. For massages I prefer the smell of the nutty oils more than that of olive oil (who wants to smell like he is being prepped as a pieceof Veal Scallopini?). Of course, the nuttier oils are not so readily available in bulk, though peanut oil probably is due to its use in Chinese restaurants. I guess that if I have to smell like a food, I'd rather smell like a dessert. Because, beleve me on this, for days afterward you will smell like the oil you use for this purpose.

Wow, this is a critical piece of information that up until now has been overlooked.

Not a big deal for me since I work at home, but it is for my wife.

Get yourself some of those Kama Sutra massage oils - they come in lovely scents like almond and they're slippery and designed for the purpose.

And HAVE FUN! And tell us all about it.

Have you ever heard of a Wesson Oil party?

We actually did this once. We emptied a room of furniture before a swing party, covered the floor and walls with construction plastic, and then covered everyone in a healthy dose of oil. It may have been baby oil. I don't recall. It was very fun, especially with several squirming bodies involved. Oral wasn't really an option with everyone's genitals covered with oil but being sufficiently lubricated wasn't a problem either.

Hint: Have a large stack of towels available afterwards and forget using shampoo to get the oil out of your hair. Dish washing soap is definitely the way to go for clean up afterwards.

Covered the walls too? Must have been some party!

I see your point about oral. I love giving oral, so I'll have to work this in before the oil gets spread.

Thanks for the clean-up ideas too.

That's not typical of most of the parties we go to. It was a sort of a special event with a select group of close friends.

It's kinda expensive to buy a gallon of those little bottles of Kama Sutra oil for something like that. Kama Sutra is sold as a massage oil.
