between you and eilan this is turning into some kinda twisted playground thread. lol.

just be sure to hold on to that fish... you'll want it for strategic placement during your streak-fest next fall.

I tend to agree with Silver on this. I have been watching the show since episode one and remain loyal to it for a couple of reasons...
One - the writing is excellent and very accurate to real life inside politics (trust me, I know)
Two - The characters have been extremely well developed, making their idiosyncracies and ideals more believeable (because you know the personality of the person, it makes more sense).
Three - I would probably not like the show too much if I were a staunch republican, as it would just irritate the shit out of me. I assume the majority of loyal viewers are Democrats, like myself. Therefore, changing the show to feature a Republican administration, with GOP ideals would probably force me to change the channel.

One interesting counterpoint to my own argument though:
Alan Alda does play a very moderate Republican candidate. It's possible the writers want to introduce a compassionate, not so conservative, non-Christian Coalition owned Republican in hopes it rubs off in the mainstream of politics! One can only hope.

Just my two cents.

Great thread!

so far then, the tally is:

smits: everyone but me
alda: me

so either i'm gonna be setting records in the 100m dash or i'll be sittin' around watchin' a bunch o' nekkid bodies trot about, laughin' my ass off.

well.. is our beloved show gonna be back on next wednesday now that friggin' "revalations" is over????

and just where did we leave off two months ago when it was last on?

I figure it to be Jimmy as he doesn't seem to be doin much since he left the blue. I also just get the feeling that Alan doesn't want a steady gig. Just an opinion. Love the show btw.

thanks for stoppin' in... i hope you stick around with us.

one thing though. you realize that if smits is NOT elected, you have to streak the HT cafe with silverwhisper and all the others who are against me and my vinnick prophecy, right? ;)

lol. i feel for you but i'd have to advise you to avoid the thread 'cause i (and i presume silverwhisper) hope to see a lot of discussion going on here. is there any chance you can get the series on one of the other nbc-affiliated cable stations (bravo, msnbc, etc.)????

once the damned "revelations" miniseries is over things will crank up some and this could actually become a legitimate "how to cafe" thread.

Not on cable.....so can't use that way round it......think I might just have to invest in some DVDs of the series so I can catch up, advert free and without local editting.....which comes in the form of showing the series out of order or by leaving episodes out......

...hhhmmm...so even in the states, they interfere with scheduling????

Looks like I have quite a bit to look forward to!

Now I'll just retire quietly to the corner and let you two discuss the current state of events to your heart's content!!!

more proof

vinnick will win the general... how do i know this? simple. we're way overdue for a new "robocop" movie and bradley whitford needs to reprise his roll from (i believe) the 2nd one.

[starts the popcorn popper]

you go right on w/ that pipedream, EJ. i know which of us will be streaking nekkid through here come the end of the 2005-2006 season, and it won't be me. :D

i suppose we'll see. :>

[although of course, i still think it's gonna be you complaining about how drafty the HT cafe is.]

:D

LOL , ya you were right there. I guess I was wanting to have some thing to discuss with the conservative christians I work with and they didn't even watch it.
Hell they all saw that movie, go figure.

On a semi related note, did anyone else waste six hours watching "Revelations"?

i taped it... watched the first hour and am inclined to continue. if i get bored with it part-way through, i'll stop. so far it's not so bad but there's plenty of time for it to start sucking.

It just didn't live up to it's potential for me.
For a heathen, I usually like movies about bible prophecy and the like.
Be prepared for it to suck tho, LOL.
