Social Distance Distraction - A Little Lit Gathering Thread

Totally off topic but there doesn't seem to be a thread about travel. I am wondering if any of you are familiar with Stavanger? If this lockdown ever ends, I'm thinking about going there. The reality is that I just want to go somewhere. I'm tired of looking at the same thing every day. It looks like it might be an interesting place to visit. :)

Stavanger is nice, especially if you're into going into the nature. The city itself is small and there's not a ton to do there, but the nature around is great. If you're more into city life and don't want to go to Oslo, I recommend Bergen. The nature is great around there as well, but the city is a little bigger and livelier than Stavanger. And if you want to gorge on great Norwegian scenery and the city amenities or entertainment are not necessary, I recommend Lofoten a bit further north.

But Stavanger is cool too, I hope you enjoy it if you end up going.

Thank you, Seela! I like nature. Actually, I asked because I have a place to stay there whenever I want to go. (Except for the weeks it's rented out, of course!) The owner offered to let me stay whenever it's vacant. I'm tempted! It looks like it would be a good base for exploring the nearby areas. Since where I live the total population within 50k is about 300, it would be a big city anyway! Lofoten looks really interesting too though! Google really can't tell you everything but it's the best resource if you've never been anywhere.

Having a place to stay sounds great. You should go, if you feel comfortable traveling once the borders open again. Norway is a beautiful, beautiful country. :)

Well done cookie!

That ground zero nexus for me turned out to be a bad case of the shingles. I thought I was getting that Covid, got a test (thankfully negative), and promptly came down with that shingles. Antiviral medication seems to be clearing it up, but it has been a couple of uncomfortable weeks. They tell me I must've had chicken pox sometime in my life, but I don't remember it.

But I do have a mask and wear it in public, along with distancing.

Worried about a few peeps IRL..

The isolation is really playing with their heads.

I'm watching one whose relationship is imploding because of it. All I can do is offer moral support.

J and I are okay because our lifestyle didn't change all that much except for groceries and restaurants. All work, no play.

That must have been on days where my Rx was filled

:)

Look here, big fella. We're gonna have to schedule our crazy so we're not both going off on the same day.

How do you feel about taking Mon-Wed-Fri, I'll take Tue-Thu-Sat, and we can alternate Sundays?
