I certainly discount a writer here with over 80 percent H's on stories, yes. At best, it's writing to the lowest common denominator and probably nothing special as a read. At worst I tend to think they've worked as hard to get the Hs as they did to write the stories. But I don't ruminate on it much either way.

Impossible to know.

Just like its really hard to know how many views are actual reads.

If you simply take view total and divide it by vote total its a pretty sad percentage.

I would be interested to see what your thought would be if you had a sea of red like someone like Manyfeathers does. Would you be writing to the lowest common denominator? I think you would say differently then.

But what I find funny is the general attitude here is every story that does not hit 4.5 or at least whatever score the author feels they deserve(so a 5) must be being trolled......

Yet anyone with a lot of H's must be padding their scores. (sadly most of this theory seems to have been caused almost single handed by one person)

So.... On one hand there are no legit great scores or stories, but yet according to some all their stories should be H and they are just being beat down.

So let's rehash this.

The average person who bitches about their score and the scores of others is being robbed of their rightful score, but anyone with a good score does not deserve it.

But if the "robbed" person gets the score he wants then of course theirs is legit

Way too much fretting over this in either instance.

I write here for feedback, fun and a sense of obligation to the people who have followed my work from day one. I don't write for score unless I enter a contest because then it matters otherwise they fall where they fall.

Threads like this just feed the fire and even though I and you know this we both post away, its like a train wreck.

The only reason I really care about the scores is for more exposure. I have been here only a short time, so I won't get the type of views someone like you will.

LIT is as far as many writers are ever gonna go, and many take the affirmative action awards and plastic trophies seriously. Its how the game is played in every bizness or sport I know of.

You got it right about building a following. None of my first three stories got an H then I started getting them once people started recognizing my name.

You don;t have to be overly prolific, but steady. One thing that will help build a following is doing a lot in one category.

A lot of people read their "kink" and don;t venture around too much. My incest stories get big numbers of votes and views, but when I drift into group or mature those totals drop because I am now writing for a "new" crowd.

I have to tell you this thread has me thinking.

I have a story that for a year has hovered around 4.48 to 4.51. I always figured it was sweeps or just the occasional good/bad vote.

The thought that someone is "stalking" that story is a little far fetched to me. Anyone who would do that really needs a life.

I think a lot of readers don't vote. About a third of the ones who take time to send me an e-mail haven't voted. Especially for stroker-type stories and certain genres, I think readers come for gratification and just read and move on.

Again, hmmm. I wasn't aware that I was writing to the lowest common denominator. That's certainly news to me. Also, other than by writing and submitting my stories I certainly haven't "worked hard to get red Hs." Besides my two parody efforts and one short piece that was merely an e-mail to a friend, everything else I've posted ended up with a red H. This, despite the continuing efforts of my loyal hater trolls to 1-bomb the crap out of everything with my name on it.

That truly sucks, then, to learn that: 1. All this time, I have apparently been padding my scores. 2. I was merely pandering to the unwashed masses. 3. I came up with some sort of wicked effective scheme to garner lots of red Hs.

And here I thought I was mostly just recounting events from my time with my first wife. Perhaps I should turn myself in to the proper authorities.

I don't think my wares are worth an H, little at LIT is worth an H. But the H isn't the issue, its how theyre gotten. The stats don't support the rampant score inflation and deflation at LIT. The reasonable conclusion is fraud. Plus I have sources who confirm it. Theyre afraid of STELLA but unhappy with the conspiracy.
