Yes, same instrument, it's called Santour in Arabic, Santouri in Greek :)

.
They have them all over the world

America/Ireland, Greece, Arabia, Indonesia, a version in China, but looks a BIT different.

It may just be one of the most widespread instruments in the world

My computer is not slow, it's 9:35 pm here DiJ, rush hour, just about everybody is connected.

Glenn Morgan is terrific, I liked the tune and his playing is so melodious.

The Chieftains, no, I did not like the tune.

Clanc's ballad I loved.

One to go :D

I especially liked the Liam Clancy one - if for no other reason, there was something there for me to learn - how to do a story song.

And the Bodhran - I still can't use that silly stick. I got to play it like I play the guitar...

I guess those bouzoukis are like a big assed mandolin. I like the tone of them. I had heard of them, but had never seen one before. When I first saw and asked I was thinking that perhaps is was a lute looking guitar that is made in Greece or something and I was about to get strange.

I know of a fellow that played one tuned as a guitar, he had one of everything tuned like a guitar - its how he made his living. That might make for an interesting sound.

The lead player on that one video has what looks to be an old and ornate looking one compared to his buddy there who is playing rhythm string. Another thing I noticed that might send a person to Ireland to get an instrument, rather than Greece. The ones in Ireland have a flat back. I saw the lead player have to grab his and move it in his lap at least 3 times. That round back must be hell to keep in place.

Thanks for the Info Rainee... :rose:

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo how did you do whacking the ball around the course????????????
;)
LOL - well, let's see...

I shot a 54... :(

50 was still in range when I got to the 8th hole. I personally think 8 is one of the toughest holes on the course, yet it is only the #5 handicap hole. Anyhow, I three putted it and 50 went down the tubes.

But it was a great day!

I played all nine with no trouble. I'm beginning to think my weight a couple years ago was a bigger deal than I had considered. I won't let myself get that big again - that is for damned sure.

I had 5 puts at par! Not bad for an almost 3 year hiatus.

I lost one ball - actually, I thought I needed a 7 iron for a shot because I have been away... I nailed it and flew the damned hole - the ball went out into the marsh on the other side of the hole. But, I found 3 balls during the round. I'm up 2 as far as balls go.

My left elbow feels like shit - all the whackage I think. Anyhow, I am going out Thursday morning as well, and Tuesdays and Thursdays most weeks from now on.

I expect to break 40 (par 36) on that track some time before I croak. :D

Oh, and I took a NINE  on the first hole trying to find the range from me to the ground... I had 3 shots that went a total of about 12 yards.

And that is how the ball whackage went.

How goes the larnin' the KC paper trail version of your company? Are you ready to take an M-16 to the home office yet?

LOL - I saw the word Smoke and I took off down the hall to get me one. I have taken to hiding the things from me again. Smoking entirely too much.

I acutally had a full blown wiff on my first Tee Shot. I laughed until I almost puked. Early in the morning like that, Roger just leaves the keys in the carts and you go ahead and take off. Pay up afterwards, his wife is usually in by then. Anyhow, I had the whole place to myself first thing, and it was good, what with me swinging and missing every damned thing...

I'm sure they appreciate you mowing the grass for them. I would imagine that they get a lot of mowing done early in the morning from rusty golfers trying to avoid public scrutiny. ;)

Sounds like you had fun even if you didn't hit the target score you were after.

Have a wonderful day. Off to run the treadmill and ride the bikes in a bit. Way too early if you ask me.

Have a great day, Blooze!

Oh... you're doing the monitored exercise thing, aren't you. Cool. I did that one too. Are they having classes where the dietician lady tries to convince you that life without Bar B Que isn't too bad?

LOL - yup, I'm sure glad some old salty dawg golfer didn't see that. It would have been plumb humiliatin...

You have a good one too Mav... kiss your lady for me ;)

I will do that for you. She got up about 30 minutes after I did to get ready to open the store this morning. :D

Life without BBQ? Is there such a thing? I think a gun to the head would be the only way. ;)

LMAO - when I was in that class, she told this one old boy that fried ocra was out, and his wife who was attending with him taking notes and stuff, says, "See, I told you."

He banged the table with his hand and said, "Well, I'll be Gawd-Damned!"

And stomped out of the class room, with his wife trailing him hollerin for him to calm down for crissakes, he just had a heart attack.

It was kind of embarassed in the class room for a minute. The poor dietician was bright red. After a minute I said, "That ole boy really likes his ocra I guess..." The whole class busted up.

I bet that dietician gal surveys the class looking for any Bubbas now tho...

She's opening the store already?!!! Wow!!

Well, she's an old hand at that. Just a few local twists to the procedure to learn. Should be pretty much a piece of cake. :D

Still, I would think a rather high level of trust is involved, procedure or no. I think it recommends her quite highly, that they would turn her loose already. Good on her!!

Something more traditional for a change. Cretan Pentozali, the Cretan Lyra played by a gifted young boy.

When the men dance, the second in line stands still to support the first one doing the figures.

Morning Family :) :rose:

Personaly, I think we ought to kidnap the kid, get him a fiddle, and teach him some "bluegrass" damn... did you notice the fingerwork?... he would be a hit in no time.......

I sort of like that " second in line supporting the first" idea.
Especially when I have had a coupla beers and 5 or 6 black russians...er and maybe some wine with dinner... er... you get the idea

Morning Chief.....Morning Family

Yup on my own this morning....things run pretty much the same as the other store except for the paperwork....some of things we did they don't do but they make up for it by doing other things. So silly I never could understand why we put the exact same figures on 10 different pieces of paper
