That is cool. Nice that you two will actually have time to enjoy each others' company for a while. :D

Gonna spend the day trying to catch up a big chunk of the things I have had set aside to do since before Cindy got here. Reorganization stuff mostly. Just haven't had the energy to get to it all. Gonna try to do a little at a time today and hopefully make a dent.

Enjoy your Saturday, Blooze. :D
You enjoy yours as well... :D

Working the week-end kind of sucks to be working when Mav is off...actually it sucks big time!

Aggravating....if I had the weekend off we could have headed to Oklahoma and seen both my son an Macx....

Trying to come up with a week-end in October to head that way...but I am taking a few days off when Mav goes to the hospital so I am not sure if that is going to work out....but I'm trying!!!!

The weather here has been beautiful.

Our weather is starting to straighten out a little. It can still be muggy uncomfortable late afternoon/ early evening tho...

Heh, I bet this weekend thing is going to become a real issue with you in your new life... it may be time to make a change... ;)

Lil Sarge is coming over for Coffee this mornin' and a visit.

Dang, but that is special. :)

Things have been so busy lately all we get to do is chat over the phone for a second the next step in trying to manage Nikki...

It will be nice to visit...

Hope you all are having a nice day.

:) $

Just the two of you or did she bring the little units along?
Either way, I'm sure you enjoyed the visit :)

Good morning Family :rose:

Heaven's!! You scart the piss out of me!!

I guess I have the sound up a little high for one of the videos that have played recently, anyway - I was half asleep here trying to think of what to write when the email notification thing went off...

Good morning lovely... :)

Ah, It was just Sarge. The little units were a bed, and determined to stay there for as long as possible - it's Saturday, for cryin' out loud!!

It was fun, somehow we wound up in a metaphysical discussion of time... and we reflected on the one year thing. Damn... one year. ...and my spiritual temper tantrums - about how I'm probably going to give up on them, they don't seem to be having much affect.

And the cat, talked about the cat. She sure has turned into a "Pard" around here. The routine we have settled into is almost comical. CJ says, "No, it is comical." That it is like we are an old married couple, whining and bitching at each other.

We talked about her job - boy they are scrambling, they need to hire some folks - I am so glad I am out of it. Sarge says, "Let me hear you bitch again while you decide whether to play your guitar, race your cars, or go play golf, and I am still chasing bugs in the Work Flow module..."

I 'spose I do have it made... ;)

So, what all are you up to this morning?

LOL... sorry about the scare, wasn't intentional :D

I spent the last hour at my parents' place. Last week I decided to introduce my dad (86) to technology and gave him NG's old laptop. I spent about three hours that first day, tutoring him from scratch. How to hold the mouse correctly took some time  Then how to view files and an introduction to Word. During this past week my kid would pop in to help him here and there. Today I went and did some more tutoring.
Next step will be to give him Internet connection but I want him a little better accustomed to the machine before allowing him to surf the web
He's having a hard time learning new things at his age of course but he's enjoying it too. And once he starts exploring the web he'll have a blast :D

:rose:

That sounds really neat! Have you dealt with the intracacies of "Saving The File"? That seems to be the one thing I always have the toughtest time with, getting them to understand the file "system".

My Mom just throws her hands up in the air and shuts the stoopud thing off. Anne and I used to have some pretty tense moments when she would insist that the thing ate her file, and then when I would find it and offer that she should pay just a little bit of attention... well you can imagine.

Is you Dad into doing research and stuff? Is he inclined to get interested in games? Does he want to write. Oh... so many things! I bet you're having as much fun with the anticipation of how much fun he is going to have.

:)

Yep, save a file, copy, paste, rename, delete, recover... a little bit of everything.
He keeps notes on little pieces of paper as I explain things. I guess it takes some time for any newbie to realise that the machine is a dumb tool that will do as you wish, and not a brilliant brain that's out to get you and prove how dumb you, the human, are.
Except if you are a kid of course... I can hardly keep up with how fast my kid and her friends work and learn new things... and they demand that the machine do as they wish, period :D

LMAO - I really get a kick out of my Mom... every time she does something that causes the computer to beep she jerks her hands away from the mouse and keyboard and apologizes quite seriously, "Oh! I'm sorry!"

And the kids...

Little J has really done a job on "Her Space" in MSN. She is hounding CJ for a Domain Name so she can set up a website on their alloted space on their ISP.

These kids I race with have been playing video games since they crawled out of the crib - I can't even pretend to keep up. They tolerate me because I am a funny old fart and I know some "neat" stuff about cars...

Just a whole big different world out there now. What would be really scary now would be to be completely computer illiterate now. That would have to frighten a body half to death to see the whole world operating in an area you know absolutely nothing about. That is what is neat about your Dad. A lot of older folks just shine it on... ain't none of my business anymore...

:) :rose:

Morning Chief....Morning Family

Got one eye open waiting for the coffee to get done so I can get both eyes going.

I'm laughing at your computer stories....yeah my sons can run circles around my computer skills!!!!

Heh, indeed his face lit up when I told him I would set him up with his own e-mail to correspond directly with friends and family. I guess he thought I would do so straight away... but I thought it wiser to allow him some time to feel a little bit more confident around the machine, before I launched him into the intricacies of the big Web :D

Good morning Sis :rose:

CJ and I keep using pictures as a means to force my Mom into giving up her "It's just too complicated..." position (I mean, the woman ran the General Ledger for a Restraunt Chain and a Food Wholesaler for cryin' out loud.) But anyway, we tell her there's new pictures on CJs Blog and she has explicit instructions how to get there.

Instead, she traps my brother into printing them out for her. He told me the other day I owe him for a ink cartridge after the wedding pics...

I imagine your Dad is going to get tangled up in one of those sites that keeps spawning more windows as he tries to get away and have to holler for help - now that will be funny...

Good Morning Beamer!! :)

Sighhhh.... I so hope not. I've already briefed him on things that pop up blinking " :nana: CLICK HERE!! :nana: ".... for faster computer, for winning a prize and all that shit.
Hopefully he won't get into too much trouble. There's AVG and Ad-Aware on that laptop and I'll be doing regular clean-ups.
At worst, he'll catch a virus and we'll format the HDD and re-install Windows, no big deal because there's no data there to lose :D

ok ok, I'm just not technologically inclined....Give me two sticks I'll start a fire, give me a laptop and I'll likely start a BIG fire. :D

Ah, Monday...

"Say hey, Blooze," you might ask... "What the fuck do you care if it's Monday or not. And are you getting dotty in your old age? Mondays suck, remember? You aren't sposed to look forward to Mondays."

Now, this is good and appropriate that you should ask that. If for no other reason, it proves that you have been paying attention. Well here's the answer... The goodness or badness of a day and its position in the week is relative to what has happened just recently (like yesterday), what might happen today (a quality assurance meeting maybe), and what is likely to happen for the rest of the week, (dealing with cranky customers, perhaps).

For some like the Beamer Unit, the idea of Monday and Friday and Humpday moves around. She finds this highly unstatisfactory, not because of events that are normally associated with those days, but because they won't stay put. She would perfer that her and her man have the same days on the same day...

Yeah, I know... read it again, it makes sense if you go at it slow...

Anyhow... Monday. It means that I made it through Sunday. The fact that I am talking about it means that wasn't a blood letting and nobody is in jail. The Nick Unit is coming around, but it is being a slow process. And there is my own deal with Sunday, and Church, but I won't go into that.

Monday brings something else. It brings bored workers sitting in a cube looking for a break from whatever mundain task it is that puts food on the table. Yep, it will be busy on the old Muscle Inc Forum today, maybe even busy in here. Lots of folks looking for someone to chat with. In between checking the latest gee-gaw on eBay that has attracted them, or seeing if putting Grandma's Saving's Bonds into Walmart stock was a good move or not.

:D

Hope you all have a good day!
