Let's see...

- I was trying to be good... besides, one good way to ruin a good cuddle is to bite a nipple...

You can nibble a nipple :D Just don't chomp!

Morning Chief...Morning Family
Now see, I wasn't thinking nibble, or chomp. I was thinking bite, like...

There is a way to capture a nipple with your teeth that might be just a bit uncomfortable, but that is all - as long as nobody jerks of moves too quickly. An "Ow" and a push will hurt the owner of the nipple. And then the biter will be hurt because the nipple owner punched the shit out of him. No, as long as nobody moves too quickly, everything will be fine.

And once captured thus, the nipple can be sucked, flicked, laved and loved with an attentive tongue...

You know, the sort of bite that gets people into trouble... sorting around trying to find out which way the panties flew, and all that.

 nnnooo.... sorry Chief, I'm showing up with the Pulp Fiction theme....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fRRnrevc8M

and Dick Dale's version from '63...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIU0RMV_II8

only I wouldn't twist it like that cute blonde is doing, I'd be dancing it as the slow sensous oriental dance it was meant for... ;)

and here's a version with lyrics... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AURm7GY-Uj4 ... btw, Anna Vissi is older than I am :D

:rose:

.
Wow, did I learn a bunch of stuff...

Let's see...

I learned the Dick Dale was left handed, and went to all the trouble to buy a left handed Stratocaster but went ahead and had it strung upside down anyhow. I didn't know that.

I learned that we sure did dress dorky back in the 60's... '63 - I was a Junior in High School. I had one of them skinny black ties. I was cool. That video was a major flashback. One of the big deals in 1963 was the wrangle between the Student Council/Body and the School Board about whether we were going to be allowed to Twist at school dances, specially the Prom.

I learned that that piece of Music had a history other than being a theme from a spaghetti western that Dick Dale had swiped for a record. That is what I thought it was...

I learned the Foreign Women age quite well...

...and I learned that it would be cool if Lit had a youTube section 'cause I would dearly love to watch you dance to that song...

:) :rose:

Good Morning Troops... a fresh pot is a cook. :)

First of all, if you have any interest at all in American Folk, String Band, Celtic music then you really should give this radio station a peek...
http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/mini.cgi?stream=1328281&genre=&site=live365&tm=1193763076921

I got more info about this little ditty - Magic Foot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h6jbopHREw
(I know, it's a repeat - but it is cool, so happy...) Turns out this song was written by Russ Barenburg - he's the guy in the video playing the mandoline that says to Sharron, "...it's your baby now, you choose." concerning the pace of the song. I wondered why he would be saying something like that to her unless he was the producer, but Jerry Douglas was the producer. Well, now I know - it's cause he wrote the thing.

That radio station plays both versions of the song, This one off the Transatlantic Sessions, and a version off a 1992 recording by Barrenburg with Mark O'Conner. When it comes to it, the '92 version is much better in my book, primarily because there is a guitar lead in that is so tasty that it boggles the mind. I have ordered the CD. I will begin work on that when it gets here. That sound, that music, that is and always has been the goal.

Before I wander away from the record player here and get fixed in my seat at the table check this one out...

I like the easy way Tim O'Brien is with his music... you can feel, and in this case, see the sense of humor - and you get the feeling of a bunch of fellas sitting around on the front porch, or in the living room - making music, singing about their lives, and laughing.

***

I watched a video about the Eagles and their new CD. A couple things got said that caused me to sit up and pay attention.

The first was that they had more or less been working on the album since 2001. Six years ago. Now that is a fairly long time to have a project on the books. Or is it. I heard a thing once where Dolly Parton said it took damn near 10 years or more for the first Trio album to get put together.

I mulled this around a bit. Thoughts like how silly it is to stand at a little tree and stamp your foot and holler "Grow Dammit! I need some shade." I also thought about the anniversary tree in the backyard. I remember the day we planted it. It wasn't all that long ago. It is a TREE now. I don't really know when it happened. I do know that it isn't a Tree now because I was out there hollerin' at it everyday. "To everything there is a season..." kind of rang out in my mind. And, a Galatians verse about the fruitlessness of "grasping after" things.

Later in the interview when they were talking about the albums content, Henley joked about working on the sixth or seventh deadline and setting up shop with another guy to write some songs. That landed on me - again, like it always does. To purposefully sit down and write a song? "Today I shall write a song."

I have always looked at writing as a lightning strike, and especially song writing. And, that probably is why I don't write much, especially songs. I sit around waiting for a muse or some shit like that to hit...

So now I mulled on that some. I know people do it. I have read about it. They write for a living. John D. McDonald wrote something like 87 novels. And stories for Mystery magazines, and so on. He made his living writing. That seems so strange to me. To trust the rent and groceries to something that is guarded by a muse.

Perhaps there is another mechanism. Maybe the muse in my mind is another of procrastination's tools. Is it time to just do something like, "...today I am going to write." and then sit down and write. Does the inspriation to write come from the act of writing? One of those stepping out over the aching void things? Just write. The words will come.

Now that is some scary shit. You may think that a silly thing to say. But it is. Scary. I never have been a fan of stepping out over the aching void. I prefer to see the road stretched out before me, and a have a map, a diagram of the big picture. "If you continue down this path, you will wind up here."

I'm not going to BS you with some sort of "aw garsh" facade here. I am fully aware of my gifts. I can write. I seem to have some gift as far as music is considered. I have known about them for some time. A lot of the time, they are uncompromising burdens. "What have you done with what was given you?" is a littany in the back of my mind.

I have arguments with myself.

So what if I do...

Write, practice your music.

Okay, then what?

It doesn't matter, Write what you can. Play where you can.

But...

Write, play your music...

Yeah, but...

Write, play your music...

yech...

Whatever... write, play your music.

So I got out of bed this morning. I made a pot of coffee, poured a cup and put a fairly good sized dollup of rum in it. And I sat down to write...

I hope you all are having, or will have, a dandy day...

I agree, I've never understood myself how people manage to produce novel after novel or song after song. I guess some people are gifted with getting inspiration from little things that most of us never even notice, or we may notice but dismiss as meaningless. The free spirits can see poetry in everything surrounding them and transform it into a work of art, literature, or anything else their calling in life is.

Morning my dear friends. The coffee tastes like a million dollars this morning.

I got to thinkin' about what you said and I remembered some shows I had seen on different writers, some wrote music, some wrote prose, some, poetry.

It seemed in most cases that the inspiration usually comes in bits and pieces. That is not to say that sometimes one does not get "hit by lightning" and the words/music just roll off the fingertips, but most of the writers said that they would get little flashes of ideas at odd moments in their lives. A scene they would see might inspire a single line to a song, or a little snippet of a melody, or a mental picture of a character or a stray storyline. Most said that they wrote these little bits and pieces down or committed them to memory.

Days or years later, after their mind had worked it around a while, the seed had begun to grow until some other moment triggered the realization that "Hey, now I see where that was going." !! :D And they sit down and write it out.

Some of the songwriters that do that sort of thing for a living, and very well I might add, would take their little snippets and find a fellow creative person and between them they would bat the words and music back and forth until it was forged into something beautiful.

One said that he kept a file of all the storylines and parts of songs that got a good start but never seemed to completely gell and sometimes he would come back to them at another time and all the stuff would just fall into place.

Yeah, they all had a muse in their head, but a lot of the time the muse needed time to fiddle and fart around with the creation in order to have time to mold it.

But most of all, I think that some people, you included, Blooze, just have the ability to put what they see in their head onto a piece of paper or type it on a keyboard and it comes out in a form that allows others to see the same picture.

Good Morning... :)

I have read a few books about writing - one was a compilation by a bunch of published authors about the various aspects of writing, including agents, rejection notices and so on... What is missing from all of these texts is, "Where do you get your ideas?"

From the attempts I have seen of writers trying to answer that, I have come to the conclusion that nobody knows. The answers vary from book to book for the same writer, from song to song. "This time..." figures into the explanation almost always.

I have found myself smack in the middle of it in one bibbity bobety boo type of fell swoop. My partner and accompliss on our Forza racing site left out the other day, said it was all mine and deleted his account. Gone. The less charitable would say he left me holding the bag.

Along with that came the need to come up with and present a monthly challenge, manage a site with about 16 different forums and a membership of about 70 folks. Itty bitty by Lit standards, but the questions can be quite techical and require research, and then careful documentation. It is real easy to muddy the waters when writing technical material.

So here I am - deadlines, research - and a captive readership. Bein' a writer.

And then to top it off. Microsoft just put out a cattle call for writers. They want some folks to create some How To books about the various aspects of the game. Like for me, it would be tuning - building cars. They are going to pay...

I have been trying to get the guts up to send my name in...

This feels very much like when I went and got my first programming job.

"Where have you programmed before?"

"Uh, no where..."

"Oh, then where did you go to school? Did you major in Computer Science."

"Uh, didn't go to school..."

So, I decided to go ahead and send my name in this morning and see what happens.

"Have you been published?"

"Uh, no."

Heh... here we go again.

Sorry I missed everybody this week. I got sort of busy.

But it is Saturday by gum, we made it through another one.

Missouri is playing Colorado this afternoon. El and I haven't decided what to bet on the game yet. We'll see as the day progresses.

I started this about an hour ago and got side tracked...

I have lost the train...

Shall post and regroup.

:D $

I am VERY GLAD you submitted your name and didn't let the what if's and buts win out.

This is right up your alley :D

Ok family I am outta here and off to get my butt kicked one more time.Huge sale at the store this week-end probably looking at a 10 or 11 hour day

So since I can't go have fun on this beautiful day...everybody else get out and hoot and holler for ME....do it up good!!!! :D

Its the same in the sculpture world

Everyone has great ideas, but nobody can tell you where they come from.
Thas actually one of the questions our teacher asks the new people at the beginning of the semester. "Where do ideas come from?" The answer is.....everywhere!!!

Ideas come from different places for different people. You aren't going to see works made by different people about the same thing too much. You aren't even likely to see the same person make two pieces about the same inspiration either. People change where they come from in life and what inspires them changes along with them.

You just gotta go with what is YOU RIGHT NOW.

I DEFINATELY agree with the suggestion of writing down all the bits and pieces that come to you. Even if they don't work out right now they may in the future.

Keep at it Chief

Hey Wake UP!!!!!!

No now don't tell me shush up..and don't roll your eyes...if you throw the covers back over your head I swear I'm going to leap on the bed and tickle YA!!

I have been just too tied up with work and too tired when I get home to do much of anything...my beam of light was getting a bit dim ;)

A wondeful day of one on one and this little lady is beaming again :D
