Tattoos as marks of ownership.

Very wanton...

I thought long and hard before i got my tattoo 10 years ago, I was 33 at the time.

It was a life altering, almost Shamanic experience for me.
(at the time i was not exploring BDSM)

The entire process form the beginning to the end of the 4 hour session, was one of the most erotic, life altering experiences i have encountered.

It changed me in body, mind and spirit.

I am currently seeing a Dom and we are starting to engage in a Master/slave relationship.

I have re pierced my clit, as a sign of commitment to Him and our relationship.

W/e know that as we continue to grow and develop together that He will have

me marked as His. Neither of us are comfortable with names, but as he was in

the military, He would like to have His call sign on my inner thigh.

While this is still a new relationship for us we are both committed to each

other......

We shall see..... (but i am very desirous to where His mark)

I did think that branding would be better for me as I have very dry, very sensitive skin and am prone to allergies so I don't know if having tattoo ink put into my skin will cause a reaction. Master wants me tattooed though, so that's what will happen. I don't know whether he could brand me himself, he's not really into cutting, needles or wounding of any kind.

Just to be on the safe side, go to a tattoo artist and get a little red dot tattooed somewhere un-noticeable. Red is the color most frequently found as what someone is allergic to, if you are okay with red you should be okay with other colors. I have a friend who is allergic to everything. He got the red dot done, and after a year it hadn't caused him any problems, so he went ahead and got a "reset" button tattooed on his ass.

Would I be correct in thinking that the razor hurt more because it has a rougher blade than a scalpel?

I'm not sure...the gap in time in between makes a comparison a bit difficult...sort of like childbirth. The razor we used was new and very sharp, the scalpel also new and sharp...could also have been related to his having to find a suitable way to do it with a razor and also keep a good grip on it. The scalpel was so much easier due to the handle I imagine.

That is also something I considered with tattoos as I itch constantly from a variety of allergies and forms of dermatitis and it seems to be increasing with age. He agreed it would be wise to do a small test spot before going any firther if a tattoo was decided on, but once again, in this space in time he may not bother with the testing and see it as a risk worth taking and something I should be willing to endure.

Catalina:catroar:

99% of the time, tattoo ink doesn't kill you, even if you are allergic to it. I'd say F has a pretty safe bet there if he skips the testing. I'd consider it bordering on mean to do that, but different strokes for different folks.

LOL, mightn't kill me directly, but the way I have been itching this week it has crossed my mind that death might one day be a release from it. My mother has a spot on her back which itches constantly...every dress she has worn for any length of time is thin in that spot from her rubbing at it. I have developed 3 such spots on my body which have no mark, no sign anything is wrong, but itch crazily...latest one started last week.

Believe me, I know exactly how you feel. I lived with uncontrolled autoimmune chronic urticaria for three years, and I seriously considered killing myself, it was so bad. Thanks to massive amounts of daily medication I have been doing pretty well except for occasional flare-ups, but if I miss a dose they start to come back and if I went off the meds completely I would be back to being immobile in bed 24 hours a day. It was almost like having locked-in syndrome for three years...my mind was fine, but if I got out of bed or even moved too much IN bed, I was miserable. Turns out I'm allergic to my own blood, so there's nothing to be done about it except the medication...trust me, I know what it's like to itch so much you want to die.

Yes, I remember you have those issues...between itching and tinnitus I can understand why some people do get to a point of not wanting to endure another day of such torture.

Well Master wants a black symbol on me so I'll probably be able to go and get that tested. He's good at deciding things in advance but it doesn't always lead to anything that a rational person would call 'planning.' In all likelihood he'll spring it on me one day soon and frogmarch me to the nearest tattoo parlour.

Master is of the same opinion. If I get my act together and get permission for a spot test asap, I'm sure he'll sanction it. If OTOH he wakes up tomorrow and decides he's going to have his slave inked, I'll just have to deal with it. I used to work in medicine so I'm more than able to handle effective aftercare and so on. It's not going to be a huge problem IMO.

I'm prone to urticaria and eczema but both are fairly mild if I'm vigilant. My urticaria isn't caused by an autoimmune problem. The biggest improvement in my symptoms came when I became vegan. My diet is so much better now and I also avoid wheat, which makes my skin worse for some reason.

I honestly don't know my feelings on this subject. While its a huge turn on for me, I cant ever see having someone have my mark on them. Tattoos are forever, unless you get them burned off which is pricey (from my understanding). If the relationship comes to an end, that person is marked until it gets removed.

Hell, I want tattoos but I cant even decide what to get because I know I would be stuck with it for a long time. So I don't really see my self forcing osmeone else to get one :D

I don't feel that I'm being forced to get tattooed. I really don't think Master would insist on it if I was completely against the idea. It does have certain risks for me but they aren't insurmountable and nothing that I'm not happy to endure for the pleasure of being his marked property.

I know how you feel though. If I was instructed to select a design myself I'd never be sure of anything enough to say 'ink this on me.' A mark that he has chosen though, that is special and romantic on many levels and I'd be proud to wear a tattoo for him (almost) regardless of what the design actually was. He will ask my opinion on design ideas but the decision will be his.

The way I look at it, I wear Malin's wedding ring. I wear Master's collar and necklace as a day collar. If he wanted me to get a tattoo that symbolized "us", then I'd get it. My next tattoo is something that I've been wanting for a while..something that symbolizes my choice to become a submissive. But after that, should Master want to mark me as is .. I will.

It is a valid concern and while I am not sure about the word forced in the most graphic terms, I do think some are manipulated or made to feel to not agree is saying they do not want to be submissive etc. I am like many others in that I find it scary when I hear of someone being marked in any permanent form very early in the relationship (some as early as the first week/month/year) and often without any belief it will be permanent beyond their dreams or promises it is going to be forever. Often the mark lasts much longer than the relationship it was supposed to symbolise and bond.

I have a friend who got caught up in what she felt was the romantic ideal of being a slave, rushed into a relationship, couldn't wait to tell me and all about her being registered on the Slave Register within a month, and marked permanently soon after, and of course the amount of public scenes they participated in. Unfortunately, that relationship has ended, she no longer is as interested in D/s in any form as it was more about being seen and the image, but she still has the mark and is wondering how to explain it to future partners, and/or remove it without scarring. Hasty decisions along these lines can have very long lasting negative outcomes no matter how certain a person might feel at the time, or how much they are told it is the thing to do to prove they are for real.

viv's mark, on the inside of her right ankle.

The story of her tat and MIS' piercing are both linked in my sig. Good stuff.

ETA: viv asked to wear my mark in this way. We kicked around a number of different designs, and I was actually letting her mosey along with ideas. I was looking for something that spoke to her. No progress was being made, so I suggested the BDSM triskel with my initials in place of the dots. Her eyes lit up, and I knew I'd found the design. And I still waited something like six months before we did it, and asked her at every step along the way if she still wanted it. She didn't bat an eye and loved every second of it.

I will note that the first time we went out with her in a skirt and my mark showing, I got so damned turned on. I still get a charge seeing it on her when we go out and she is in shorts or a skirt. It just makes me happy. MIS's piercing does the same for me. Just something about having my mark on my girls winds me up.

Wow, you were unlucky. The first time F cut his initial into my butt he used a razor blade, the second time was a scalpel. Each time I was amazed it didn't hurt much though I think the razor hurt slightly more than the scalpel, but both were more a mind trip than actual serious pain... and the healing was way too quick. Now he wants to do it again....all in the same place, just reopening it each time. So another cutting and another branding coming up soon.

Catalina:catroar:
my process was very similar, more a mind trip than horrible pain, and we used a scalpel after the initial cutting, we've re-cut it a few more times since then.

If I possessed a female I might mark her ankle as you did viv, but I would have also marked her butttock. It would be interesting seeing her wearing a string bikini at the beach. I am tempted to have Billy-boy wear a thong this summer inorder to show off my mark.

We discussed locations. She wanted a spot that could be shown, or not, easily. Ass is tough to show outside of certain circumstances, so other spots were discussed. I wound up with the inside of the ankle because it met the various criteria.

Laser tattoo removal is indeed imperfect and expensive. Removal by skin peel, though, is usually cheaper and more effective. It works best on small marks, but I have seen some really big tattoos removed this way and they're not bad.

Yeah, I agree, my dad had laser treatments on his knuckles, he used to be a biker back in the old days (I could not imagine him to be one!) and now I could see quite a lot of white scars on his knuckles.

My dad was luckily enough, he had the laser treatments free, it was a trial programme or something, and he signed up for one.

I don't know much about laser treatments, but my dad was lucky, his tattoos were small, so its not really noticeable, I didn't even notice till a few years ago! lol. But I am not sure about bigger tattoos and whether if it will be noticeable? *shrugs*

There's some great pictures in the Tattoo Removal section on BME, both laser and skin peel removals. And then there's always the option of a cover-up; if you get a good artist you can hardly tell the original was there!

I've seen some really amazing cover-ups. The artists that do that sort of work really impress the hell out of me.

I was going to have Lady Isabelle's "I" removed from Billy-boy's ass, but by merely Xing over it, I am reminded of her each time I enjoy whipping or spanking his ass and whip him a little harder.

I have to admit that I like that idea :D

i really have no opinion on tattoos as permanent marks, but i have to speak up on the allergy issue for a second.

i have SEVERE dye allergies that were discovered AFTER i got a very bright purple tattoo on my ankle. If "you" have ANY concerns about an allergic reaction, PLEASE go get tested before you are an idiot like me and wind up with an extremely swollen leg, no circulation in the limb, and 24 hours in the ER. To top it off, i "bled out" most of the tattoo due to the medications i needed for the allergy so i now have a tattoo that looks like shit.

Also, while a tattoo artist can do a "ink test," your best bet is to go to an allergist and have a full "dye panel" done.

Ooh you poor thing, that sounded horrific. I will definitely go and get an ink test but I'm not sure about the 'full dye panel.' Even if I knew where to get one it would probably be quite a pricey procedure.
