Team PM!

Is it dead? Has it been working quietly in the background? Can anyone report that they've bveen encouraged to send someone a PM due to the latter's "Team PM" denotation?

C'mon people! We want to hear! :D

Hard to say whether it's the team PM or my photo thread tags that are doing it for me :).
Yeah. It's difficult for a PM recipient to know unless the sender specifically mentioned "Team PM". That's why I wondered if any senders might indicate here that it influenced their choice. Probably a long shot, but I thought it was worth asking.

Thanks for your reply anyway. :)

No way to tell!

I have never included the team PM link in my signature, but for quite a while I have had the words "I welcome polite pm's!" in my signature. I have received a good few messages since then from people saying they were pleased to see the message because they had been apprehensive about sending unsolicited messages and probably wouldn't have written to me otherwise.

I think the Team PM concept is a good idea but making a bureaucracy of it seems to give the wrong impression - I will continue with the simple note in my signature.

I'm glad to hear that your visible reassurance has been effective.

I think it's unfortunate that you perceive it as a bureaucracy. There is no "style guide" for Team PM -- just a few templates that Litsters who aren't familiar with forum code can readily copy-and-paste into their own signatures to provide a ready-made link and explanatory button. The only common factor is that those Litsters are committing to give a positive reception to respectful PMs sent to them.

It's probably worth me reiterating that the concept of Team PM was conceived by a female Litster (_Lorelei_) who needed no help with receiving unsolicited PMs herself, but was frustrated by the indiscriminate hostility towards them by some Litsters (for example, gleeful postings in the "PM Asshats" thread even for reasonable approaches). She proposed to redress the balance by providing an identifier that can be adopted by Litsters who welcome courteous PMs.

You can read the discussions that led to the creation of Team PM at the start of this thread.

I hope that helps to explain the background. Of course, there's nothing to stop individuals from adopting a single line of explanatory text in their signatures in the way that you have done. It's a matter of personal choice and belief about what will work best.

Hiyas!

Hey all,

Sorry for being away from Team PM for so long. Hope all is well. I definitely welcome PMs of any kind, just sayin :D

I love PMs from all the beautiful women and sexy men that happen my way, I'd like more especially closer to my age, but not required.
