close...but only by Texas standards!I'm moving to Austin in about three months. Anyone hail from that region who isn't my ex? Lol
I'm near Austin. Have you been here before? If not, hope you enjoy it (and don't mind the traffic...or always mind it. The traffic won't care).I'm moving to Austin in about three months. Anyone hail from that region who isn't my ex? Lol
Yes, I've been multiple times. Lol The traffic is the least desirable aspect I can think of although I'm in Tampa now so some days it's hard to say which is worse.I'm near Austin. Born and raised. I've had the displeasure of seeing it turn into the mass of concrete and construction that it currently is, but it has a lot of redeeming qualities still.
Especially the music and local culture. I made friends wherever I landed. I fell in love with it a bit. Aside from the obvious. Lol
Yeah, meeting like-minded people no matter your interests here is super easy, and there's usually something to go do.
There's a long-running joke that we get the best weather for the week (two weeks now) of ACL fest, and that fools people into thinking that average weather here is pleasant. Then they all move here and get to experience our 9 month long summer.
Is yours a work transfer or just time for a change?
Haha- I'm actually nervous about the colder weather as Florida is nearly the 7th circle of hell which I sort of enjoy less the hurricanes.
It's time for a change. I was going to move there for a man, that's done. I thought I might just love the city more than the man- intro to my adventure endeavor.
Oh wow, that's helpful information.Well there are half a million men here so I have no doubt you can find a better one! As for weather, you don't need to worry about cold. It was a fluke when we got snow a few years ago (the blizzard that messed up our grid so bad), usually its a few freezes a year, and even then usually overnight. You might get a few weeks or even a month's worth of weather where it's in the 30s.
No hurricanes of note, but you should know about flash flooding if you're moving here. That's our version of hurricanes/earthquakes/tsunami warnings. Lots of creek beds in central Texas because of the Balcones geography feature, and intense rain can cause them to raise several feet in a very short amount of time, going over bridges. Usually every heavy storm has some water rescues of people driving through questionable water because they think its shallow.
I'm not sure how I set that preference but I appreciate you letting me know. It's updated and you are absolutely right. LolYou're set to private, but feel free to drop me a PM. I know it can be easier moving to a place if you have somebody you know (even remotely) there.
