The 2024 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

Geezus! I said on my profile page: 2 stories for 2024. I found a file with old stories posted elsewhere (but not now) that fits the groove. So, I'm in.

The deadline for this is coming up, so it may be my next project. We’ll see if I can get the vision sorted in my head. Go Geeks!

I found out about this event after I was already deep into writing my On The Job submission, which would arguably fit in here, too. It was a bit of bummer, since this was my best geeky idea in a while, and I didn't have another one that I'd want to try working on.

Well, seems like now I got one :) It's a bit outside of my area of expertise so I have to do some research (probably nothing more involved than skimming Wikipedia, though) but I think it should work out rather nicely. About 2k words in and I have pretty good idea for the characters and plot. Not actually pantsing it this time, surprisingly! :)

I wait all year for this one, my Geek entries always come out as episodic novels - The Gate, The Enchantress Octalogy, and now Captain Scarlett! (I'm a SciFi Geek, what can I say?)

Change of plans. When Red Tsonia is too stubborn to be wrangled into a story, something else has to happen.

Three weeks to go and I've just started a new story. Superheroes this time. Already 20k words in and no idea how it will go down. I mean, I have a game plan, but I have no idea how the reception will be. Ultra-grim alternate realities can skew either way after all and I'm a bit stingy with the sex. Oh well, at least I have SOMETHING to show this year. Hopefully. Unless my depression gets the better of me again and throws a big wrench into my momentum.

Hang in there BJ! If you need a shoulder, I got one you can borrow!

17.5k here. I think it's mostly in good shape from taking periodic breaks to copy edit in sections, but I still need to sweep through at least once from top to bottom, just to make sure it flows as a complete composition.

So, how's everyone who hasn't posted yet (and updates from those who have) going with their entries for this one? Have your inner geeks been duly and enthusiastically released? How many stories are you looking at this year? What do you have cooking?

I not only finished my story, a near-future sci-fi mind control novella, but got beta readers to review it. The reactions were mixed and polarized:

2 readers stopped within the first few pages, horrified.

1 reader stopped about halfway, bored.

3 readers loved it.

I hope that publishing it won't be what's euphemistically called a "learning experience".

3 weeks to go. I should start writing something. Probably pick a couple of my pet geeks and thrown them at each other. Richie and Emily got together somehow, after all (I do know how, roughly, but not sure can make it into a story as opposed to 'some stuff happened').

Or another board game perversion. Last year's was well received. On the other hand, so was the one that was just two guys doing sexual experimentation in proper controlled fashion.

I guess I'll go out on a limb and assume I have some people following my Literotica saga and care...

Most of my stories involve the same four characters and it all started five months ago when Story Freya walked into Alex's place of employment. For the Geek Challenge, I decided to revisit that beginning, but in an alternate reality. What would have happened if Katie had walked into that hardware store instead of Story Freya? I'm at about 6K words and expecting it to end around 10K. Other than having things twisted around, it's my usual sweet and sexy style.

I've attempted a few different styles here with VERY mixed results, but have come to realize that I should maybe just stick with what I know. But then again, in real life, I've never been one to "stay the course."

I'm really looking forward to this challenge!!

35k words and writing like a maniac to get it done and in. I have also picked up some Latin. LOL

Damn, that's practically a novel. I have about half of that (~17k) but I still need to write the final scene / epilogue, and then perhaps expand some of the erotic ones if I don't find it satisfactory while editing. Both are rather easy tasks, since I have that last scene outlined, so I'm actually trying to finish some regular story I've been working on and is nearing completion, as I'd like to publish it before the event.

Oh yeah, I have a chapter for another story that I am doing at the same time and I am waaaaay late with that and I wnat to get it out at more or less the same time.

AND I have a novel I am editing to self publish and I want to get THAT one out too. Not enough time in the day. LOL.

Excuse me, I have a silly question.
I wrote a completely stand-alone story, but, for my own convenience (because I'm lazy), the two main characters look a lot like a boy and a girl whom I had already described in my contribution to the "Midnight at the Lost & Found Author Challenge" event (fall season of 2023). https://literotica.com/s/the-dinner-game-of-most-clueless
Nothing binds the two tales together: except that the girl keeps the same name ... that both are two geeky weirdos who read lots of books📚📖📓 and know Lewis Carroll's novels by heart... and that both are virgins despite being over 20 years old.
Two geeks who quote Carroll and chess boards🏁the way you and I might talk about Rihanna and Margot Robbie.
.
Could it satisfy the mandatory condition to be "stand-alone"?
Then if a reader is curious (or triggered to know something more about a kinky interpretation of Carroll's writings), he may find six pages of prequel already disposable at the Literotica link, but again, anyone may not read that one there to understand what happens in this one,

Much to my surprise, I (think I have) got something that just sprang out of nowhere. Not very long, 2000 words, but the whole thing just came together in a day. Now I need to see if an editor can look at it.

Is the surname Brandon politically triggering to people from the USA? i do not know, but I want to use the name for a reason, for a story in this event, but I don’t want any politial effect at all.
