The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

You think I am joking about airline flights.... I am not
As soon as my project is done, there will be plenty of room for you! I'm currently squatting in one guest room. The other is full of stuff from the rooms being worked on.

Nobody showed AGAIN today! I called the contractor and totally lost my shit on him in a VM. I told him I was sick of the delays, no-shows, and that I did not feel valued as the customer. I also threatened to terminate the contract. He called me back. Said he will be here tomorrow (today, now) with tile and 3 guys. I'm not holding my breath. 🤬🤬

Morning all...
Getting ready to head out the door. Thought I'd pop in quick and wish everyone a Happy Monday.

Also, a warm welcome (in advance) to Mrs. Wonderer67
(in case I miss her inaugural post)
I hope your procedure went well and you're now resting comfortably. Preferably with some chemical enhancements on board for pain and/or relaxation. 🫂🫂

I'm Sorry. (New here, I'm just picking up on some of the details about a few of you...)

Division of labor is a wonderful thing, until you have to do it all. I know there are A LOT of things I'd be lost doing without my wife.

I do try to include her on some tasks so she has an idea of what gets done maintenance wise, but I don't think she absorbs it.
(For the record, she's WAY smarter than me, so I'm not implying anything there. It's just her aptitude exists in other areas...)
Thank you. I thought I was fairly aware of most of the things around the house. My husband was mostly blind and profoundly hard of hearing so I felt like I was more knowledgeable than most. However, I'm also perhaps a wee bit type-A and feel like I need to have a handle on everything. Not knowing makes me kind of crazy(er). 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

I know I am forgetting a few others. But chime in so we know ya.

Thanks for your service to this great nation. And to all of my brothers and sisters who served.

In the UK it’s known as Remembrance
Day. And if anyone has ever served their nation, a salute to you.

I think Veterans and current military need acknowledgement every single day of the year! Our country would not exist without you! Thank you so much for your service! I hope you all had a good Veteran's Day. 🇺🇸🪖🇺🇸

We could probably volunteer a virtual slap on the..., if needed! LOL.

Kidding aside, there have got to be books for some of this stuff. The "Operators and Owners" manuals cover some of it. The problem is some of this stuff is getting more complicated, and they don't always give the 'secret decoder ring' away in the manual. So, don't feel bad about having to call someone. Even I have to call them sometimes.

For example. When the water heater quit, it was a safety sensor. Reading the manual told me the flashing light meant this sensor tripped. Found a sensor locally, and replaced it. Still flashing. I had to call my HVAC guy, who told me over the phone how to reset the controller. That information is NOT in the manual anywhere. Flip the power switch off, wait 20 seconds, then flip it on, and turn the temperature setting knob Hi-Low-Hi-Low-... 7 times. Do it twice.
They make this stuff hard to find, or intentionally hidden sometimes.

It's been snowing for an hour now...
I do know my HVAC guys!

Yesterday was our Remembrance Sunday so a long one for me as I arrange our services recognising those who have served but particularly our fallen. The day started with a church service at 09.45 then at our war memorial for wreath laying and two minutes silence. We had about sixty people there. Wreaths were laid by a veteran, our primary school kids and our Local Council

I had time for lunch then we had our sunset service at the Quay in the village. It was a beautiful evening and we were led by a junior piper about 13 years old. The names of our fallen were read by the head of our life boat service and the beacon was lit at sunset by our junior football team. It was another good turn out with about fifty people present.

Now I can relax it’s been a long week.
That's a lot of work organizing both services, G. I hope your community recognizes your efforts and doesn't take you for granted. The pictures are wonderful! 🫂💞🫂

I'm trying not to. I did choose to "slowly" walk down the stairs twice yesterday. Still too scared to try upstairs. I also "slowly" walked a mile yesterday. I was stiff and a little sore but not too bad. Baby steps 😄
I’m going back to bed. Trying to work out how you came downstairs twice, but didn’t go upstairs is too much for my brain to handle

I work upstairs in a building. I usually use the stairs but hurt my back. I'm trying to push myself in small increments. When I'm carrying a heavy bag or going up I've been using the elevator. Habit still takes me to the stairwell so I tried it yesterday.
