This thread has gone too quiet just before we need to pick next months read.

Anyone have a preference?

LOL. It is coming up on that time. To tell the truth I'm trying to talk snowy into joining us, maybe she'll have a suggestion.

I'm baaaaa-aaaaack!

I don't know that I'll have time to read whatever the monthly selection ends up being but I would not recommend the Lindsay selection Warrior's Woman. It gets a bit......well, it doesn't deliver on the D/s front and there ends up being waaaay too much telling in exposition to move rather contrived plot elements along rather than showing what's happening. Lindsay only wrote interesting D/s relationships back in her early days when she was still doing historical romance and the trend was for alpha heroes who tended to be borderline abusive.

NOT that I haven't loved me some Lindsay, but I find that I'm not able to read her books much anymore since my tastes have changed as far as the level of sophistication in writing is concerned. This is not to say that I'm a sophisticated reader, because I'm certainly not, but I either have to read something ridiculous like the old-school bodice rippers or I have to read some of the more complicated authors.

Awesome! I hope she does join us!

We must make an announcement what the book of the month will be by tomorrow at midnight!

Hi!

*hug*

Welcome back!

I have noted what you say about Warriors Woman. So that won't be our pick for this month.

What should we read?

:rose:

Any book you consider to have been pleasurable, and somewhat BDSM please share!

Selection of the February 2008's novel will be announced on or before Thursday January 31, 2008. There is still time to make nominations!

The discussion of the January 2008 selection(s), 'Scandal' by Amanda Quick and/or Kick Ass by by Maggie Shayne, MaryJanice Davidson, Angela Knight, and Jacey Ford may begin at midnight your time January 31, 2008. If no one read the second book listed we can read it another time. I'll hold my comments. I read both.

I was able to place both of these on my library reserve list, so I'll be late but I'll get them up. I have a suggestion for the list, too, but I'm thinking that needs to be on the other thread?

Nope. You can nominate here, too.

Nomination for somewhere in the future: A Hunger Like No Other, by Kresley Cole.

Featuring mild non-consent, lots of breaking of showers and bedsteads, demi-gods and a new take on werewolves, it has enough sex to make it much pervier than the usual romance novel, but not enough to make it unavailable in the public library. That's where I borrowed it from. It has mild powerplay, and it is some violence, but it's not handled in a graphic (ie icky) way.

Oooh. Great book, great idea. And a book that I can get my hands on.

ETA: Another great one to put up to do eventually would be 'the warlord wants forever', also by kresley cole. It's the first book in K. Cole's immortals after dark series. In it the main character has a chain around her waist that's supposedly unbreakable, but whoever has it can literally control her, to the point of small movements and everything. I mean complete control. Of course in the story it ends up breaking and a really hot guy is the one holding it.

I'll read whatever y'all want. We just have to decide by midnight!

:rose:

BTW, I'm intrigued by this nomination:

Naughty Fairy Tales from A to Z

:)

I can't. It's not popping up on limewire, I ow the library money, and I can't afford a new book.

Well, I know I'm supposed to say the selection of the month in another 22 minutes or so but I'm going to put it off. I'm tired. I've been out and busy most of the day. I want a book that we can all read. Let me know your pleasure please.

*hugs to all*

:rose:

Okay, so I have a very busy freaking day planned and a huge, stupid plumbing crisis today. Plus I forgot to turn off my alarm so my husband just woke and broke my clock. It's looking like one hell of a great day so far.

*sigh*

So, if anyone knows of a book we all can get and read please, please, please, share your ideas. I might not be much help today.

Plus discussion can begin on the book(s) of January whenever you'd like.

*hugs to all*

So does this book work for everyone?

A Hunger Like No Other, by Kresley Cole.

Please let me know!

:rose:

A hunger like no other is good, or we can do the other one you wanted. I went through my books and have some to trade in, I'd be wiling to take that money and get the kinky fairytales if that's what everyone wants to do.

I'll post my review later - I gotta go get kids.

Then let's do snowy's nomination for now. I've read it enough times the book is falling apart. Of course dropping it in the bath didn't help.
