The box office

Thor looks good. As does Cap, though most people are misunderstanding Cap. "He doesn't even look like Cap"...actually, that's his costume during WW2....

The one he had during WW2 in the Ultimates not the comics of him from the 40's you mean.

And you're right they do look good. Crosses fingers being a marvel guy and all.

So I just saw the trailer for X-men: First Class. It looks like it will be an interesting movie.

I'm also interested in seeing I Am Number Four and Sucker Punch, they look like fun thrill-ride movies.

Thoughts?

I want to see Sucker Punch to see what its about. #4, I'll check out when it hits netflix.

Another movie I'm looking forward to seeing is Battlefield: LA.

I saw a preview for Battlefield: LA....it left me confused. I thought it was a TF/Terminator hybrid at first, and now I just don't know. I'll probably see it just for the 'splosions.

Good man. Just see it for the booms and don't go see it for oscar worthy acting, and you won't leave dissapointed.

*nods* Did you see the reOrigin comics for him? They decided to do a miniseries detailing his early days just after the Super Soldier project. One of the people involved with the NuklearPower webcomics is responsible.

 No, I haven't. Definitely gonna have to check that out.

Just saw Battle: Los Angeles
Kinda cliche but once you get past that it was a pretty good movie.

Though the fact that Aaron Eckhart was playing the main character threw me out of the movie a couple times.

He'd say something like: "I don't care if you go left or right, just make a decision."

and my reaction is "Why don't you just flip a coin?" Oh we laughed and laughed everybody in the theater looked at us funny.:D

Were there plenty of 'splosions?

Yeah, I think I'dve been laughing along with you....those who didn't get it are just not among the cool kids....

Yep, all the kabooms a man with a bag of popcorn and a cup of coke in his hands could ask for.

Oh most didn't hear what I said except we were laughing so loud. So none of the other folks knew what the hell was so funny. I'm not the type to blurt out shit like that in a movie theater. I hate guys who do that.

Oh also I live in a major army town and we had a bunch of army soldiers in fatigues in the audience and the movie's pretty pro-marine corps. So, watching how they reacted whenever the marines on screen were all gung-ho Hooahing took me out of the movie too a couple times. :)

I'm more a "lean to the person with me and whisper the joke" type. There are moments where I'm "that guy" though. Can't help myself.

It's almost amusing how much the different sections of the military don't like each other.

I put it down as something like sibling rivalry.

Not my favourite but good films.

The Whale Rider. Set in beautiful New Zealand. Keisha should have won best actress. I cried like a bitch.

Crash. For all the twists.

Gladiator. Great film overall.

Agora. This just made me want to scream "F*@king Christians" at the screen.

I don't do horror films, they keep me up at night. I laughed when I read the comments about CS Lewis. The Christian elements were quite blatant. Saying that, TLTWATW is still one of the biggest selling children's book of all time.

Saw Sucker Punch today. It was an interesting movie, with lots of great action and a storyline that was a bit confusing at first, but made sense later. I recommend it if you were considering seeing it.

Finally saw Thor earlier today. It was a fairly good rendition taking the middleground of the scifi and fantasy elements of the mythology and blending it all into a believable brew.

Oh and I noticed in the credits one of my favorite writers Joe Michael Stacynski cowrote the script. So Hooray for JMS :D

LOL :D

Yeah Chris Hemsworth certainly looked the part of Viking god in that. Great casting on Marvel's and the director's Kenneth Brannagh's part there.

Oh and there's a shirtless scene in the movie you'll probably enjoy Shy.;)

Yep, seems Mr. Hemsworth is going to be this decade's Hugh Jackman. Seems fitting that both got their big starts in Marvel movies.

Hehe - it isn't just that. I am thoroughly enjoying the increase in Aussie buffness on the international scale lately.

Who are my faves atm? Hmmmm...
Craig Horner
Andy Whitfield (I know he wasn't born here, but he lives here and studied here, so he is on my list)
Hugh is there too.

*fans herself* Oh so many...

I definitely liked Thor, though the guy who played Loki stole the show acting wise. But yes, Chris Hemsworth shirtless/flexing as he tries to pull out the hammer should keep the ladies entertained. Definitely one of the better Marvel movies, I'd say a notch below the first Iron Man but probably better than the second.

Anyone besides me planning on seeing Priest next Friday?

It's not worth braving the friday night crowd in my estimation but I'll definitely see it during a weeknight just cause I like Paul Bettany, and I didn't not like the graphic novel its based off of. (It was OK, a little strange to me but good overall)
