The China Pearl Inn part 7

Hey CG:rose:,

I just wanted to tell ya that the Inn is my favorite place in lit land.

Sometimes I get a bit down but stopping in here and seeing everyone's antics always brings a smile.

Uggg:rose:

Well we do try to keep things a bit on the crazy side, when we can Uggg. I am glad that you enjoy the Inn.

Sorry folks I feel like I've been hit by an SUV tonight. Might have something to do with the SUV. Now I think I fully under stand one of Toby Keith's song. Small kid (maybe 9 to 11) in a crosswalk with a green walk light. Stupid driver on their cell phone ran a red light. I wrapped myself around the kid just before the SUV hit. I think she told the cop about a dozen times that she wasn't speeding. I took out her grill and damaged the radiator with my shoulder, head, and side. The good news the little girl is shook up but fine and I didn't suffer and major damage. The "lady" got a free ride in the cop car.
So in the immortal words of Toby Keith "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."
For those of you out there who think your bullet proof, please don't try this at home.

Good grief. I am glad the little girl is okay. Keep an eye on your damage, sometimes things show up a day or two later. If you were going to be as good as you once were, I am glad it was at a moment to save that girl's life. Gentle hugs to our latest hero.

Raven well done.! That being said get yourself to the Doctors for a complete check up. As you are not bullet proof, you may have been dented just a wee bit my friend. ;)

I've been more than a little dented for a long time but it's all in my head so no real damage. :p

Seriously I did have the EMTs check me over on sight. And I'm good friends with a VA nurse who works in the ER. He had a long look and said I'd probably feel it in the morning but to give it a two or three days. I showed no signs of head trauma, other than the superficial bumps on the outside. When he heard how much damage I did to the SUV he said BS to her not speeding. So probably 30- 35 mph impact, maybe faster to do that much damage with my feet on flat on the ground. He hung out for about 4 hours and kept checking on me till he had to report in to work. And noe of my neighbors who is also a nurse checked me out this morning before we both went to work.

So a few bumps on the head, some red marks at impact points, some minor swelling in my shoulder. Ribs hurt the most but nothing broken.
If me or the child had been flatfooted it probably would have been worse.

Well I am glad that it seems you made it through with no significant injuries Raven. It is well that your friends checked you out yesterday and another this morning. Take care oh dented one. ;)

Thank you CG. I have found, in this part of the world that a careing nurse is better than a MD. Most of the time. Especially since I have caught doctors searching symptoms on web me. It's one thing to get a second opinion about an uncommon illness or injury but, when the patient is bleeding from a clean 1 inch superficial wound(you can easaly see the bottom of the wound) and there is no major vascular damage(you can hold the wound open for longer than 2 seconds without filling the wound with blood) then you should probably just clean, stitch and bandage the wound, not go check web me to see what to do after you looked at the wound. This happed to me a few years back.
I figured I could go to the hospital and risk that kind of treatment or I could ask an ER nurse that can normaly spot head trauma with 3 second look in your eyes. I was thinking I'd see the nurse first and if he said get in the truck then I had someone safe to drive me.
See I R smart.

I quite agree Raven. My mom was an RN and a US Naval Nurse. I have seen her save more than one Doctor's ass by simply saying Are you sure Doctor? I would not do that! My primary care is by a Priscian's Assistant that was a Navy Corpsman, and later a Naval nurse. A great guy and he listens and answers questions directly.

Once in the Military, always in the Military! Raven, you served your country with vigorous courage and I know in another time in another place in a different life we would have served together and I would be proud to serve alongside you.

I had a communication from the Lionesses and they have read your post and acknowledge a true American hero. John and I read about this in bed this morning (*blushes*) and both of us salute your courage!

Morning Sal. I bit you have a smile a mile wide on that pretty little face of yours this morning. :devil:ish :D

Hell of a thing you did raven, that's pretty amazing.hats off to you sir. That's hero stuff, just sayin.

Who know Sal, I'm still in for most of a year. God forbid you may still get the chance.

Tell that West Pointer I said not to try it. It hurts and I know to those guys can be. :D

I hope I never have hindsight before my instincts kick in. I tend to act in the moment and caculat on the move. Been that way since I was little.
I was thinking as I was running that I'd grab the child and tuck & roll. When I was stepping in front of the SUV I knew I didn't have time so I just grabbed & tucked. I guess I figured I had a better chance than the kid. Mass equals resistance.

Oh they can come to haunt you Raven. What we did in the past with little effort takes a wee bit more out of us these days. That being said it is hard to reign in and old war horse.;)

O I’m grinning like a Cheshire Cat CG, the cat who got the cream! I’ve finally got that loser who dumped me out of my system, obviously knew nothing about a woman’s needs!

Raven, I’ve told him and he just smiled and said your remarks are noted. As you say we all hope we never have to engage in the serious stuff but if we do I’d be proud to serve alongside you. And I know from what I’ve heard that despite his age CG would be doing his bit too, another brave man.

Well today is my day off, I’m supposed to relax. But I’ve been ordered to report to BEDfordshire tonight. Can’t think why :cattail:

You kidding? CG's age is something I would count on if SHtF. "Beware of old men in an occupation where good men die young."
