The China Pearl Inn part 7

Sal & I gently open the door to the inn, wipe our feet outside and brush the dust off our combat uniforms. Ensuring our rucksacks are securely on our backs we look round at the clientele and exchange greetings. Noticing CG and overhearing his remarks I pull him to me into a special hug supported by Sal

Sorry about the dust CG, but we just want you to know we stand with you. Challenger happened before either of us were born. But we’ve got ghosts both our own and family ones. My great grandfather vanished without trace at Auschwitz. I never knew him but I dream of him. Then there’s a baby that died in my arms. I hug you, and gently kiss your forehead.

GG says the key to her room is in the cash till. RT hands it to me.

Sal and I are going upstairs to GG’s room for a hot soak in the bath, then we’ve got a debrief (I wish Steve was here to debrief me ). We’ll be back later.

We’ve missed you all.

Such relief to finally take my bra off!

Great soak, good debrief. No one home in the inn so Robyn and I are off to the canteen then the pub. Catchup soon

Watch to weary ladies march in, hug CG and ask for GG's room key. Hand over the key and watched them trudge up the stairs to the rooms. Watch them come back down looking ready for the pubs. As soon as the door latches I break out the hundreds of balloons and streamers. Place a Union Jack over the mantle. Release the parade banners from their snug bindings. Bring it a few bottles of prechilled Adult beverages including a few bottles of Champaign. Set up the slow drop confetti trip wire in front of the door. I even go to the trouble to set out a sparkler for Uggg and one for Chris.

WAKE UP SHADOWS!!! We have guests!

Good morning everyone:rose:,

Welcome back ladies.:rose:

This week is going to be awesome! Just you all wait and see.;)

Uggg:rose:

Wonderful to see you home dears!

On another note, as many of you know, I post solo on Charlotte's Conversion, to keep our soldiers entertained while they are deployed. If anyone in the Inn would like to join me for a cameo or longer term role, I would enjoy the company, and our readers the variety. Please PM if interested. :)

I never learned much of it. But any Latin langue is a good conversant opener.

I have only just begun to study spanish. It is of no practical use to me but it sounds beautiful when spoken.

Español es un lenguaje para la poesía!:rose:

My actual ability is very limited but google translate is a wonderful assistant;)

Uggg:rose:

Hahaha cheater. In the Army we have a saying: If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying. And if you get caught, your weren't trying hard enough.

Hey it’s great to be back in the Inn and thank you Raven for loaning us GG’s key. As you can guess we’re both very tired but it’s worth it. Sal & I passed our assessment and are now considered ready for the next phase.

CG was right about those randy Sailors! But we held them off. There’s only one Sailor I want to get Randy with

Io preferire italiano come, un linguaggio di amore.
Mostly because I have been speaking it in bits and pieces for the last 27 years. Unfortunately I've lost almost all of the written language and most of the spoken, but at one point in my life I spoke American with an Italian accent.

Welcome back you two. Hope your training went well.

Have you heard anything from the team in Afghanistan? I'm hoping they're all still well after this latest bombing in Kabul.

Robyn, your mention of your great grandfather has me wondering how his offspring survived that terrible time.

Again, welcome home.

Sorry guys, I got like a minute to say hi earlier and was immediately pulled away.

We expect to hear from the Lionesses in a day or so. I’ll keep you informed.

My grandfather was a boy in Poland when all this happened and his father was a banker before the war. The last he knew of his father was hearing he was loaded onto a train. We later found he was sent to Auschwitz. My grandfather rarely spoke about it but he somehow got himself onto a train (I think he bunked without paying a ticket). I don’t know how but he got to Holland where at the end of the war he was one of the orphans who was selected for resettlement in the UK. Later he met and married my grandmother (an Irish Jew) and they had three children one of which was my Father. That’s all I really know. My father might know more but we don’t get on well.
