The Five Stages of MAGA Grief

A friend of mine just got back from Japan, he spent a couple of months there and said the cities he visited were the cleanest he'd ever seen. He said that the Japanese people were friendly and helpful but he felt they were a very parochial people and only tolerated Westerners. :)

Major cities are completely westernized to accommodate tourists. It's said that if you get off the tourist routes and go into the hills you'll find that the people are still polite but are much more reserved. Which translates to seeming to be less friendly.

They are a homogeneous people and so I think there is an understandable cultural bias against outsiders. I don't hold it against them. I have a lot of respect for them. They are a very exacting and industrious people.

Same can be said for backwoods places like Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, etc. Translates as less friendly too. If that's what you want to experience, no need to jet across the ocean to Japan! Stay in America's southern states and get a similar experience minus the clean cities of course. :giggle::nana:Make America Great Again!

And now we have that unknown factor of 10-15million illegal uncivilized aliens put into the mix of possibilities of social upheaval. Recall the majority of them are military aged males. What happens when their support is cut off and they become the hunted?

🙄

Wat just shat themself.

Scat-man’s work here is done.

Your mistake is in failing to understand that Democrats have become Marxists and the Party is dominated by them. You can thank Barack Obama he began the transformation in earnest.
You missed out the deplorable code Hussain, but I for one amongst the many here would be entertained if you could explain any Marxist activity undertaken by Obama.

Japanese society is undergoing a lot of turmoil. Because it's a class-based society the integration of capitalism isn't as seamless as it looks on the surface. There's a lot of depression in Japan because of it.

They are a service economy with problems of its own, Its debt is over 200% of its GDP, and the population is in decline. But I think they are in better shape than the Chinese.

I've never been to Japan but I do remember how many of the Japanese I met all seemed to have this cloud of sadness over them. It was weird.

Bangladeshis were among the happiest Asians, as near as I could tell.

I agree about the Chinese. Japan's largest problem is that it's leadership is basically Socialist Democrat now. With all of the problems Socialist Democrats seem to bring with them wherever they go and get into power.

This makes economic reform very difficult because leadership's only response is to throw more money at their friends while the people continue to spiral into poverty and ruin.

Which sounds familiar to everyone who has watched the Biden administration's efforts at doing the same.

The Deplorables on this thread demonstrated that there are only three stages of MAGA grief:

1) Shock and anger that the world did not turn out to be the way they said it should be.

2) Denial and distraction from what actually took place.

3) Return to telling everybody how the world should be.

What a tedious bunch of know-it-alls.

Donald Trump's followers have suffered a severe ego wound. Their entire world is crumbling around them. For most people, politics aren't central to their identity. They can walk away from a loss at the ballot box relatively unscathed. For example, I was disappointed when Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, but it didn't crush me. Being a Hillary supporter wasn't central to my identity.

Trump supporters are different. They can't just switch their allegiance to a different Republican. Supporting anyone else is unthinkable.

Donald Trump's felony convictions are forcing them into the five stages of grief. Mostly what we're seeing on the Politics Board right now is Denial and Bargaining: The news media is lying. There's some clever technicality that proves the trial was a sham. The Supreme Court will swoop in and save him. The dangerous point comes when they move on to Anger. In the real world we may see actual violence -- attempted assassinations of the authorities holding Trump to account. But here on the Politics board we'll just see a lot more acting out -- nihilistic posts about how everything is a joke or America is completely broken.

Hopefully as soon as possible, MAGA can work through their collective anger to get to Depression and Acceptance. Then we'll see a lot of conservative posters wandering away or going silent, too beaten down and ashamed to keep up a losing fight.

Finally, once they work through their grief over Trump, they can start posting again about real political issues.
Considering the events of the past weekend it seems like a good time to revive this thread. We’re seeing a lot of denial and bargaining: Biden didn’t really step down, or there’s some legal trick that will prevent Harris from being the candidate, but mostly we’re seeing anger. Their instinct is to lash out but they don’t have any talking points yet, so they’re falling back on misogyny.

Calling Kamala Harris a whore is one way to cope in the short term, but ultimately it just accelerates Donald Trump’s collapse, and magnifies the ego wound.

Would need to recognize they have a problem for any hopes to make it through.

Ahahaha, BS. We are happy warriors obeying the law and following the Constitution. The only thing we are forced to suffer are the inanities of the left a delightful exercise in verbal creativity where the only real rule is that there are no rules. A place where BSG can say a lot without saying much, and making it all sound terribly important or noteworthy.

You’re going all in with denial.

I observed another symptom of grief with a Lit MAGAt this morning, and I don't know exactly where it fits with the five stages of grief.

Chloe expressed resignation that the Deep State would successfully rig the election to defeat Trump, but (s)he then stated that Trump losing would accelerate disaster, which would prove the MAGAts correct.

So, is this a mixture of "acceptance" and "bargaining"? I only want to know in order to respond compassionately to the rampant grief being experienced by Lit's MAGAts. Being a member of the Deep State, I want to understand their feelings.

Nice analogy. I am a Democrat but most importantly a Patriot. I hate… no I loath what the MAGA NAZI has done to our U.S. I am disgusted with his blind cult followers. I look forward to the day he is completely crushed and destroyed.

To break this all down to the lowest denominator, FUCK MAGA NAZIS!

Never, just a straightforward explanation of the realities faced by clear-thinking patriots. Imagine a fortress built of rigid beliefs and limited perspectives. Inside this citadel of intransigence, we see walls lined with certainties, and the view from the windows is always the same, no matter how the world outside changes. Ensconced deep inside we find our beloved BSG laboring to weave straw into strands of gold. :D
