The "insurrectionary theory" of the Second Amendment is nonsense

But boy, they needed our guns and accepted them gratefully once upon a time.

If you're talking WWII I think defending yourself against another nation is entirely different from either self defense or defending against ones own government. While I might talk about shrinking the military significantly I don't think many (if any significant group) is talking about eliminating the military.

Why are we arguing about shit that some old fucks wearing wigs wrote 200 years ago?

Times are a changing and we need to change to stay congruent with society. If this means we need to ban crazy fucks from having military style weapons so these weapons are not out there being used for murder then that is how it should be.

Fuck your 2nd Amendment rights. It is time to change as society has changed. Arming yourself to stand up to the US military? Who the fuck are you kidding you dumb fucks.

I think it's reasonable to assume that our Allies believe we're so willing to shoot 'em up that they can count on us to do it for them and then make fun of us for it being part of our culture.

Of course we just think of it as being responsible and other people are being knowingly helpless and requiring rescue. And then they can discount all the gun-trained people that got killed on their soil and they can just say...whatever ridiculous thing they say to excuse that sort of rudeness.

You are the dumb fuck, on so many levels.

You are the dumb fuck, on so many levels.

Really?

You think armed civilians can stand up to the most powerful military in the world?

Yeah, you're a winner.

We use to allow slavery, blacks not to vote, our women were 2nd class citizens. Jim Crow laws, segregation and I could go on and on. These were the laws of the land. But as times change and society changed and laws changed. Try evolving a bit and get your mind out of 1st gear or should I say reverse.

Oh yeah and Thomas Jefferson supported rewriting the Constitution every 19 years, equated not doing so to being 'enslaved to the prior generation.

So suck it dipshit

Actually I think that natural disasters are much more likely and looting. Those times when civilization breaks down and there is no authority and no protection except for what you can provide for yourself.

Now, does that ever happen? Yeah. Several times in my lifetime. Am I afraid of my President? No. Am I cautious about being completely helpless in events like Katrina and Charlie and Sandy?

You betcha.

I am not proposing banning ALL weapons. A shotgun is a better line a defense as you really don't need lots of practice or any kind of marksmanship. But nobody needs a military style weapons.

A legit fear. Though being fair most of that lawlessness is people getting desperate and if instead of spending money on guns if everybody spent it on being prepared for the goddamn disaster in the first place we'd be better off but still I can see why you'd want a gun in one of those situations.

Yup, I agree with you there. They should be licensed and tested in the same way that cars are. And just as we don't drive tanks on the highway, I don't think it's reasonable to want an automatic assault rifle for home defense or hunting.

So I agree with you that the right SHOULD actually be infringed in the sense that a car is infringed. If you are an idiot, you can't have one. But you have to prove your idiocy first.

I'm mostly arguing that there's a perfectly good reason to want a gun in your home, to be proficient with weapons and to believe that we do not necessarily live in a place or time that is reliably civilized and you should do what you can do to take out the bad guys and remain whole yourself.

It isn't about the government, it's about other people. At least for me. I'm much more concerned about a natural disaster or a home invasion. And I don't see why anybody would think that "gun ownership" is more dangerous to my mental or physical health than those things.

I'll say it again, you're a DUMB FUCK. Your name says it all. A Fraud. The beauty of our Constitution and Bill of Rights is they are timeless documents. Societal changes don't matter, contrary to what you say. The Constitution puts limits on the government so we stay a free people. If you don't like this arrangement, you can pack your shit and leave. The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and our Bill of Rights are NOT going anywhere, despite what you loons might want to do.

I'm pretty prepared and though I was in town for one week before Sandy hit, everybody came to my house. I have a huge box that I update every year for disaster preparedness. A nice long list of being ridiculously overprepared so that everybody made fun of me for some of the stuff in the box that means "Zombie Apocalypse Has Hit And There Is No Water" but it would have worked to keep people alive in Katrina. Nobody is sorry to see preparedness when it's needed. I didn't see anybody turning down air mattresses or flashlights or extra blankets or a deck of cards.

No, I'm not afraid of civil war or Aliens or "insurrection" whatever the fuck this is about.

I'm cautious about what I've already experienced.

Oh, for the love of God. I can make a 22 rifle look like a military style weapon. Should we ban those too? WTF?!?!? Such a dumb fuck.

Now this I completely agree. I see nothing wrong with standard hunting weapons and small capacity handguns.

The very fact that any person believes that they can stand up to our military if our government goes corrupt is just the kind of idiot I DON'T want to have these weapons.

Fact is that in a situation requiring a firearm for self defense very few bullets are expelled so having an extended clip is an erroneous argument.

The other argument that only the bad guys will have weapons and who will defend us is another misleading bullshit argument. For example right now there is no ban. During these mass shooting exactly where were the armed civilians at to shoot those crazy fuckers? Oh yeah that's right MOST civilian do not nor want to walk around with guns.

See this is where you are such an imbecile and should shut up so you do not look stupid.

Looking like and being are two different things. We are talking about banning REAL FUCKING MILITARY STYLE GUNS NOT A FUCKING FACSIMILE YOU IGNORANT STUPID FUCKING CUNT !!!!!!!

Jesus Christ some people are so fucking stupid. YOU ARE EXACTLY THE TYPE OF STUPID THAT SHOULD NEVER OWN A GUN.

Fucking dolt.

Thomas Jefferson disagrees.

I don't walk around with one because I actually live in a culture that is anti-gun and most places have signs saying you can't go in. That's the right of the business owner and I don't disagree with it. But travel and destination is very complicated if you're carrying a gun.

Guns mean different things to different people. I respect that. I don't think everybody should be forced to learn to use one if they're opposed.

I do not, however, understand how other people feel they get to tell me what my gun "means" to me as if they were explaining to a small child about how I believed in Santa and that my gun isn't really real and all my ideas about it are wrong.

I would prefer an open carry policy after testing so people could see how many people actually do carry guns or know how to use them or aren't afraid of them. There's so much concealed carry and it looks like nobody has one. It's skewing reality and making it look like they don't exist.

So yes, the only people we see carrying guns because it's so very complicated otherwise and you're bound to attract attention and frighten people because your jacket parted and people think you want to rob them...are the crazy ones.
