Your kids sound happy. That’s lovely. I actually love trains. I almost took a job as a signaller way back when, but the hours were all over the place.

My daughter buys the best gifts. She loves it. It’s actually so nice. I’m so happy she’s coming home for Christmas this year. I went out the other day and bought a whole bunch of care products for her. A few of her favourite perfumes and hair/skin/nail care products. I brought it all home and I thought to myself, I don’t even have this shit LOL. I think we’ll have Christmas at the beach this year. Maybe on the boat. Hopefully the weather is nice. I would love to experience a white Christmas, though. That would be something.

Glad she's coming home for Christmas! When all my chicks come home, I'm my most relaxed and happy. It's a big world out there and for that small amount of time, they are all within arms reach.

Isn't that the thing? Giving to the kids what we don't have.. It's a sign of a good parent. At least I think so. It is a selfless act, that's what you do. I already know you're a good egg!

Having Christmas on the beach, in a boat, sounds like a fantasy to me.
Heavenly even. Believe me, white Christmas sounds great and all, but it's best observed from inside. It stops being fun the minute you step outside and the snot freezes to chunks inside your nose. I'm hoping we do NOT have a white Christmas.. I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion, even here.

Lucky, the black hen who sat a brood last year has decided to do it again: we were down to 7 chickens (2 roosters and 5 hens) and now we've 15 and climbing. A lot of them are dark, maybe half of them black and the rest a mix of black and brown, with one all shades of brown and another a blend of yellow and grey. Some of them have very fluffy topknots and others have stripes of brown or dark colouring from their heads right down their backs.

It's official.. I had to upsize my phones fonts today. It was hard for me to admit, that my eyesight is declining. But fuck, I should have done it sooner!

12 chicks... all but 2 of them mostly black
had to put a load of hay out yesterday to make a big nest on the ground inside the henhouse and they seem happy as larry with their mum. It's cool out, but the big glass south-facing windows mean they've got the sun. Tonight it's supposed to drop to 31 but with the residual warmth, the hay and their mum as an eiderdown they should be good.
