The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

Heading to the Podiatrist to get my left foot checked out. Originally, my GP had diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciitis. All the symptoms of that have subsided and are no longer present. Now, on the inside of my heel, I have extreme ache and sharp, radiating pain. She set me up with this appointment to get some scans and an MRI.

I'm nervous, my feet are how I make my money. If I can't walk, I can't work. I only have 3 1/2 years until i hit my magic number and will have my full pension. I'm only 46, but making my 30 years is a must. Everything will probably be fine. It'll turn out I'm just a crybaby and need to suck it up, but I've worked through a lot of pain in my career, and this has been the most difficult. I hate my job and everything about it, but I don't want to lose everything I've worked for because of a foot.

Just some introspection. It helps with the nerves if I write it out and read it. Like working through it somehow. Unfortunately, it's on a public forum, so everyone has to see it. Waste a little bit of their day listening to me whine.. I should just pop a couple Xanax and shut up. If only I had some Xanax. I'm sure everything will be just fine...

You don't want to turn 50 and only have one foot. And I'm not talking about penis length. Hopefully your docs can figure something out. Like on TV. But, never seems to happen IRL. At least, in my limited experience.

At least you're seeing a doctor. I've heard too many people complaining about sores, aches and pains but do nothing about it.

Feel free to vent. It's better to bitch on here then to punch someone and you ending up on the 6 o'clock news (not that you would do that).
Sending healing hugs you way:rose:

At least, you're getting help. No one is going to do it for you. You must be proactive in taking care of your health.

Turns out, it was a detached heel muscle/tendon sort of thing. Couple of shots in my feet (which were horrible) 24 hours of stying off of it, some cushy inserts and a U shaped pad. I need to do another round of steroids, which suck, cause I have a very difficult time sleeping when I take them. Follow up in a month. Back to work tomorrow, which is good, I think. Doc also said, I have a lot of nasty arthritis developing in both feet and ankles.. Hazards of my job. I'll have problems when I'm older, for sure. But that's not today, or tomorrow.

Thank you for the support!

I've figure out that what I'm looking for no longer exists. It really is a harsh and extremely cold world. I've known this for some time. I'm not shocked by it. I'm quietly sad.

Support ha ha!!

Cheap footwear has a cost.

most my bras were the underwired kind, but after getting so fed up with being tortured for years i've bought 6 pairs without wires... cottony, supportive, pretty enough and front-loaders. SOOOOOOOOOO comfy, my boobs say 'thankyou' :)

I'm going to PM you my e-mail for pictures. I just want to make sure they fit you properly. It's because I care. :sneaky:

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 😁

Maybe some new snazzy boots will help. too? Even if they only last half the time a pair of Redwings lasts, it'd be worth if for a couple years of comfort.
Oh, I have never cheaped out on footwear! I've done the red wings, rockys, timberlands, wolverines, almost every quality brand out there. Except for my old Redwing logger boots, I had when I started (almost 30 years ago) I can only get 3 or 4 months out of them. None of them hold up to how much we are on our feet and in rocks. I've found pairs from every brand, loved them, then they got discontinued or changed their manufacturing process. Right now, I'm on Keens. I love the fit and feel, but the soles wear out fast! At $325 a shot, it gets annoying.

I do have requirements too, they have to be hard toed, steel, composite or otherwise, the heels need to be 2 to 3 inches, defined. I jump on and off a lot of moving cars and engines, so if I don't have a good definition in the heel, I slip through the stirrups on rail cars or platforms on locomotives. And yes, I have done both. Luckily for me, I was dragged (drug? Drugged? Druggin?) in the opposite direction of the wheels all 3 times it's happened. And yes, it hurts and I got pretty beat up. But, you get up, dust yourself off, make sure you still have all your limbs and appendages and keep woking. Every railroader, who has spent any time on the ground, will know what I'm talking about.

Same thing here, find some good shoes/boots and they discontinue them. And the newer snazzier replacements seem to wear out quicker than the old ones.
Fuckers. I loved tinberlands when they first came out. Then they started cheaping out of manufacturing. They looked the same, but everything was different. I was very unhappy, I loved those boots.

Most Redwings went offshore years ago, so they aint what they used to be, but I still like the fit. I got their flame boots for motorcycling.

Funny you mentioned Keen, which are still mostly us made… i bought their closed toed sandals for a stones concert this summer.

anyway, if your feet are fucked up no point in bitching at me for your poor choices.
