The Lounge's Summer Pool Party

Good After noon all.
*Yawns before laying out a brown and green bathing suit to absorb the sun, shoulders covered to avoid any more sunburn.*
I hope everyone's had a good weekend.

*smiles over at Bell.*

Hey, Bell. Welcome back. My weekend wast mostly procrastination, packing, stressing, packing, procrastinating and stressing some more, but I'm making progress.

I hope all is well. Would you care for some nachos?

Oh no thanks. Dealing with a slightly queasy stomach today.
*smiles back and sighs *
I went to the guadalupe river this weekend. I'm already missing it.

Drops in to just relax in a lounge chair, stretching to get some sun. He pulls on his shades and peels off his shirt as he stretches out, a glass of iced water placed on a side table next to him as he stretches out his arms and leans back sleepily. Mmm, lovely day today.

Arrives and enjoys her pouncing from a starry eyed, much missed, lovely

Hi you!! Missed you too! Awesome to see you!!

A little dazed from her pouncing she picks up a fruit juice from the bar and seeks a lounger to rest on while she shakes off the dregs of sleep.

runs in, hugging Noon and goosing a Witch before disappearing into the water

Hugs Zydrate back and kisses her cheek before winking at Brit, stretching out from my spot underneath the sun.

Hey, Witchling. Come over here! Beckons her closer with a smile as he lifts his sunglasses to look over at her. Oooh, and if you've got a spare hand, can you bring me some juice too?!

laughs as Zy dashes by and grins at the sound of Noon's voice, she nods and makes an abrupt 'u' turn back towards the bar, returning a few moments later with a glass of juice in each hand

Hi, handsome!

she offers one glass to him while sitting down on the edge of his lounger

And how are you?

He sits up a bit and accepts the glass of juice from Brit, leaning up to give her a kiss on the cheek before he sips on it and smiles. Mmm, thanks lovely. You're such a sweetheart. He grins and scoots over, inviting her to lay down next to him for a bit.

How are you doing this morning?

Smiles at the kiss to her cheek, sipping her own juice while she watches him move over and make room for her. Setting her drink down on the small table beside the lounger, she lays down next to him. Her back to his front so she can still see the ocean.

"I'm not too bad at all thanks." She replies once she's made herself comfortable, possibly with a little more wriggling than was strictly necessary, "A quiet day ahead, I hope, the sun seems to have disappeared again but it should be back tomorrow."

"How's your week started?"

He smiles as she slips in next to him and then wraps his arms around her to spoon her a bit. He feels her bottom pressing back against his crotch, wriggling against her in return a little as he kisses her neck softly. One hand lazily rests on her chest, cupping up underneath a breast before sliding down to her stomach.

Mmm, it was pretty good. Had to work a little bit on stuff, and then did some stuff outside in the heat before getting a nice refreshing shower. He wiggles against her just slightly. The trick to getting a good shower in the heat is to take a warm one, because it feels good and is refreshing...but then once clean, turn the heat down gradually until you're almost shivering.

Nodding softly as he reaches back to get a sip of juice before looking down at her. You gonna get some writing done today?

A soft sigh and she leans back against him, his hand seeming to find comfortable places to rest with very little difficulty.

"Mmm, nothing like a refreshing shower after heat like that. I love that feeling straight after a shower, when your skin is all refreshed and cool and..."

Another sigh.

"That feeling is awesome," she grins, "and I am hoping to write a little later on. My little witches are still trying to pick something to do given than going outside isn't an option right now. Too many mosquitoes and not enough sun. But once they've settled on a pursuit then I think I can risk opening up a writing project or two."

A giggle as she picks up her juice and takes a long sip.

"I owe words in a few places and I really don't want to leave it longer than I have to to reply."

He nods softly, enjoying the feel of just cuddling with her for a moment, feeling himself getting a little sleepy. He sips on his juice and sets it aside, keeping his body pressed against hers. Hmm, indeed, you do owe a few words, at least some that I know of. And you'll be quite pleased with what they return.

He chuckles and kisses at the side of her neck before giving it a soft nibble. I hope the little witches have a good day. It's hard when there's not much sunlight to do things. Not a problem we've been having here lately. He laughs softly and closes his eyes.

I'm probably getting to bed pretty shortly, beautiful. Hope you enjoy the part in the meantime.

"Oh, I'm sure I will," she grins, moving a hand to rest on top of his for a moment or two. Before squirming slightly, and giggling, at the nibble to her neck.

"I hope when you get to bed you get good sleep and plenty of it," she turns over slightly to lean back and kiss his cheek softly over her shoulder. "It was lovely to see you for a little while. And I'm sure I'll be around when you are again. Sweet dreams, handsome."

Leans down to give Brit a kiss on the mouth and then strokes her hair softly as he does, before pulling his mouth away, nodding and then pulling away from her. I'll be back later, I'm sure. I hope it's a fun day for you, lovely. I go to rest, now.

He slides away from her and then heads back to head inside, peeking over his shoulder at Brit as he does, blowing her a kiss before heading up to bed.

*Spots the lovely witch without company for a change as he migrates back, glad for somewhere other than his increasingly barren room to spend his time. Noticing what seems to be work in her lap, he opts to not disturb her, instead fixing himself a glass of whiskey--not expensive whiskey, just basic--take the edge off liquor.*

Being productive over there, blue eyes? Don't let me disturb you if you're on a roll.

*Sits on a bar stool and slowly turns to face her, even though there's still enough distance between them that he has to use his "outdoor voice" to be heard.*

I just want to make the most of the time I have left, here as in the place that has been my home for two years and this lovely pool.

The sound of a voice makes her look up and turn around, lips curving into a smile to see a familiar face.

"Semi productive, not really rolling as such but I'm slowly getting things done."

Her work is put aside, it can wait a little while, and she curls her legs up beneath her so she can turn around properly on the lounger to face the bar.

"How goes the packing?"

"How goes the packing?"

Better than last week--deadlines make for great motivation. Still worried about getting rid of some of my larger items (bed, desk, lamp, chair) but since I'm giving them all away for free, it ought to be manageable. I hope.

It's also quite depressing, but I do have a looming trip to Japan to look forward to so I'm trying to stay positive. Trying being the operative word, I might be more accurately said to be coping... poorly, but coping nonetheless.

*Pours back some whiskey, it like so many things needs to be gone by tomorrow.*

Did the little witches find a worthy diversion? Are they safe from the threat of mosquitoes?

Speaking of... While I'm in Japan, I will need you to take over some of my duties related to the University. Once I get back I hope to hit the ground running with Admission letters and Orientation, so you may have to assume some of my duties in terms of making sure that the faculty get their syllabi together and sufficient students have applied (we're doing pretty well in that department so far).

*Smiles and swirls the liquor in his glass.*

If I'm honest, I'm a little depressed in general these days, but writing helps. Writing always helps, no matter what's ailing me. Do you find that to be so? Writing as therapy and so forth.

Standing she stretches her back, a little stiff from having sat still for a while, and then walks over to the bar. It's too early in her day for anything overly strong but a drink is needed regardless.

"Change like that is never easy, I've been through it enough times myself to know how hard it can be. But it will be over soon and then you can look to the future. And Japan! How exciting!"

Bottles clink in the fridge as she finds a bottle of a very nice South African rosé and pours herself a generous glass.

"It's somewhere that I'd love to visit one day. I think my camera and I are thrilled at the thought of travelling just about anywhere though.

"And the little witches have played themselves, relatively mosquito attack free, to the point of exhaustion so am going to attempt to get them to nap before long. Then I get a break of sorts too."

She sips her wine while she listens to his words about BDSMU and then salutes him playfully across the bar.

"Yes, sir." A grin that's anything but professional beams onto her face. "Don't worry, just let me know what you want doing and I'll do my best to make sure it's done."

Another sip and a slightly more serious expression when next her eyes find his.

"Writing always helps me. Always. Whatever the problem, whatever the cause, writing brings the clarity and focus I need. It's a release, it's an escape, it's a way to process. You're right, it is therapy in a way. At least, it is to me."

*Smiles at the kind and agreeable response, raising his glass in response to her salute, not at all surprised by her response but pleased nonetheless. He knew from the outset who his ideal TA would be and that she'd be equal to the daunting task of maintaining this tremendous undertaking.*

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks of writing this way. I think I got a bit spoiled at school, as writing became so integral to my work and personal life that now it's like... I barely know what to do with myself anymore. I certainly don't feel like anybody's cook anymore.

*Drains his glass and makes the "whiskey face."*

When I was a little boy, I made a list of my "Dream Cities," that I wanted to live in before I died. London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Tokyo. I lived in London for several formative months years ago, San Francisco for longer and though I've never lived there LA has been like a second home to me at various times. I've had a few prolonged visits to NY, but Tokyo is the only one on my list that I've never been to, so I'm excited to rectify that--even if my Japanese is VERY limited.

Also, traveling with my mother brings its own type of anxiety. But I really shouldn't complain, it's going to be amazing.

*Pours a bit more, finishing what's left in the house before he has to leave.*

It doesn't help that in my last quarter I came down with a bad case of soft feelings for an unavailable 21 year old. I did the right thing, but that sad fact doesn't make the coping process any less daunting.

*remembers that he's not supposed to discuss such things... subject change.*

Any big plans for your holiday?

"My 'must visit' list is pretty lengthy," she says as she moves around the bar to lean upon it next to where he is sitting, "I've done my fair share of travelling around Europe and then my family's connection to South Africa means quite a lot of my youth was spent down there. But the States and South America, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, China and Japan...they're all places I hope to get to go to before I shuffle off this mortal coil, among many many others. One day maybe...if I can save up enough, I'll do a world tour and visit all the friends I've got spread around the globe."

A hand reaches out to gently squeeze his forearm for a moment or two.

"Affairs of the heart, especially ones that don't end as we'd hoped, are never easy to get over. I'm sorry you've been going through that as well as everything else. I'm always happy to lend an ear, if you need one."

She smiles warmly before taking another sip of the fruity wine.

"My summer? Is probably going to be spent close to home, it's our first summer at home since the minis were born so it's nice not to be packing up and travelling around for a month. Although it's a shame not to be seeing friends and family. I think we might travel around Scandinavia a bit, when we can, pop over to Sweden. Maybe catch a boat to Estonia. We'll see."

*Ponders the prospect of unloading a glut of tragic romance over a bar like some literary cliche of himself, but the liquor is working enough to free his tongue and anonymity emboldened him to honesty.*

thanks for listening.

*falls into a bed before having to move it in 5 hours or so.*
