The NEW UK Kink Thread

Tried a walk-run combination today. I think my left knee is still a bit dodgy so didn't push it. Beautiful weather to get back out there with though :)

It's been a lovely day for running! My wife competed in a 10k race today and enjoyed it. I didn't enter the race myself as I thought I'd still be recovering from last week's marathon, but I think I've been fine ever since (no DOMS that I noticed!).

Keep listening to that knee! They can take a long time to heal, but are still able to mend if you exercise carefully and pay attention to any warning signs. :)

Well done your wife!!! Er,... DOMS??

Yeah, I mustn't be too impatient with the pesky knee. Thanks for the reminder MF.

Right, Monday night is sing a-long night with my trusty guitar. Any requests?

Ooo, good question! If it is just singing, I like to belt out things like Abba or Carly Simon. Does vary though.

If it is singing along to my guitar, my repertoire is severely limited by what I can play  ... I play mostly folk stuff and I like playing/singing along to the quirky numbers, like Sunny Afternoon by the Kinks :)D) or solid classics like The Boxer.

Yeah, so when I offer to do requests, it is a bit like the Monty Python cheese shop sketch

Done :D

Ah, just google monty python cheese shop sketch. Will get you there :)
(basically customer John Cleese has a very hard time trying to ascertain what, if any, cheese the cheese shop actually has in stock and will sell to him. Very funny and well known sketch - has spawned many similar sketches)... point being, you could ask me to play all sorts of songs and get increasingly frustrated that I either don't know them or can't play them :D

"This cheese is dead!" Oh, hang on, not that one.

As a non-music player, I'm considering a similar approach with the bass guitar. I imagine that all that I need to do in order to impress people at parties is to learn to knock out the riff from Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. If I can also do the bassline from Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water then I'll probably get recognised as some kind of minor rock deity. ;)

As someone who learnt the bass as a teenager for that very reason, I can promise that this is absolutely true ;)

EDIT: Aaaand now I'm sat in work listening to Rumours as I type up a report...thanks MF *grins*

Think more of "oh I think it's a bit runnier than you might like Sir" :D

Ooo, base. Nice. Yeah, learn a couple of classic riffs and you'll fool most people.

Not thinking about cheese.

I am wearing a skirt with a very tight waistband.

:D Not thinking about cheese at all then? Not even a nice firm brie?

Hee, I am contemplating eating less. I tried running again today and my left knee did decide to complain just a little. So back to resisting running again :( There is nothing quite like it as it is so easy, can do it whenever I like and it's free. But if I am not doing it I am probably eating too much now. Humph.

Slightly nervous making news today that I will have to have my wisdom tooth removed. I have never had a hospital procedure before. I rather liked that fact. But needs must.

I has avatar privileges *bounces up and down in excitement, squeeing*

Ouchies Lucy - I feel your pain. Staying off an injury sucks...how is hiking for you, until you feel better?

Elle - were you thinking of the word 'membership'?

Yawn! A sleepy afternoon to you all. Spent half the night in hospital as had an allergic reaction to something. At first I thought it was medicine I just started, but now I am suspicious of the tuna I ate. (Looks suspiciously at her marmite sandwich and then realises she is getting a bit paranoid!

I must admit that I burst out laughing when I saw your avatar. That must have seemed a bit odd to the other people on the bus. ;)

Oh no! Hope you're okay now. I know that allergic reactions range from being a pest to life-threatening. :(

Thank you, yes feel ok now. And can rule out the medicine as the culprit. So likely the evil tuna!
It was somewhere in between those extremes. I could breathe ok (thankfully!) but my throat was getting very tight.

Will add that one to my list of new life experiences! Certainly makes me appreciate the staff working throughout the night - not only the medics, but the reception staff and taxi drivers too!
