The NEW UK Kink Thread

I stand up, walk to the kitchen for a drink, in the time it takes to pour water, both cats have occupied my chair and are deeply asleep

Left london with a passable bass baritone... had to order dinner by pointing to the menu and hand gestures. Wonder if ill have a voice in the morning. Signal here sucks though so for those I chat to, don't worry if you don't hear from me until tomorrow. :)

hugs to those who want them... and are not afraid of a little cold :)

Hope Sophie is spending her time studying :). Hi RRW

Coming up to 7.45 now and just leaving work. Pretty horrendous day but survived - electrical fault was three blown thermal fuses on one of the main circuit boards so cost was a couple of hundred instead of twenty thousand. Lucky the engineer was able to come the same day although we've had to run even faster to catch up the time.

Back in tomorrow at 3 am - my hands are cut and swollen, my legs and arms ache constantly, I've got a collection of bruises on my shins and ankles from walking into pallets but two more days and it will all be over for another year. I am going to be so drunk on Friday night that I am apologising in advance for anything I might do or say as a result! :D

Sorry you're feeling rough, Mal, but I'm sure the deep voice will bring its own rewards :D

And you have no control over those cats, Daisy!

All cats are dominant and my inherent submissive nature is manipulated by the evil little furries!

Lol, feel free to drunk text, I get such a laugh at things people send when they are drunk! :D

*big hugs about the aches and pains and bruises. Dose up on neurofen to get you through, before hitting the hard stuff on Friday :)

Morning all.

Good job we live in a world with rapid, text based communication. My voice is almost nonexistent :)

lally. Seriously, you're no good to anyone injured and broken down. Take a break.

Can't stop I'm afraid - I lead from the front.

Today is the worst day of the year for me and I'm still two staff members down, so I have to try to make up the shortfall in manpower by putting in extra hours myself. There is a possibility that I'll have to work late into tonight, but we'll see how things progress during the day. The responsibility is mine so I just have to get on with it.

Hope everyone's day goes well.

Mal is right, killing yourself will leave the workforce without leadership. Take a step back, I am not saying stop, but give yourself breathing space. Xxx

First band rehearsal tonight :) I have a bit of a sore throat, so will take it a bit easy.
Publicity pics will be good, the drummer is a fetish photographer who also produces music videos :D

Think things are catching up with M, he spent most of yesterday evening asleep, in the end I had to tell him to go to bed and get some decent sleep.
:( I hope he gets a break at the weekend!

When I'd been teaching - and doing four other schoolhouse jobs (two coaching, one supplemental to my classes, one school assistant business manager {managing all extracurricular events that involved even $0.01 of cash money} - for five years or so, my assistant principal and I were smoking in his office when he suddenly said, "You need to take a couple of 'mental health days' next week."

I looked at him in disbelief - a man who got his doctor to come to the school to give him pain relief shots for his gout and the knee he'd blown out in pro football (US) rather than leave the school grounds for 45 minutes - and asked if he'd lost his mind. "No," he said, "but you're losing yours." I sputtered and stammered a moment before he asked, "If you die tonight, will someone else be teaching your classes, coaching your teams and doing the rest of your jobs tomorrow?"

"Well, yes."

He smiled. "I know - not as well as you would, but they'd do it, and in a couple of years, almost no one would remember you were here before them. Don't give them the chance. Take a couple of days and recharge your batteries."

I know you're all right, and I thank you for your concern. The difference is, though, that there isn't anyone else who will step in if I'm not here. I'm the company owner, and my staff's future employment relies on the renewal of the contracts that we're currently producing, and they are time-sensitive. So if we deliver late, they don't get renewed next year. That's why I do this - it's my responsibility to ensure the livelihood of everyone who works for me.

That said, they did send me home the other night when I was losing the plot, so I do listen sometimes :)

Keep it in your mind, then, that it's only a couple more days, and take mini-vacations over those days: Three-to-five minutes of your eyes closed, *feeling* yourself in a lounging chair on the beach at Ibiza (or someplace warm this time of year) and a fruity drink with umbrella in it. It's amazing how real those moments can feel if you shut everything else out, and how refreshing.

Then... when the contracts are all met, the customers are creaming in their jeans about what a wonderful job y'all did, give big hugs all 'round to the staff, and shut your asses down for a week or so, and come back ready to do it all again next year-end. :rose:

Son came in to help this evening, with his iPod full of 'pool music' - the songs that were played constantly by the pool when we were on holiday in Vegas in the summer. So I took your advice, got him to play it through the sound system, and was transported back to the relaxing heat :D and you're right, it does work!

And we do get a break over Christmas - I close the business down before Christmas Eve and we don't reopen until the new year :)

Perhaps you could train someone on the staff to step in when you need time off?
They couldn't step in as owner but as boss/supervisor, to make the situation less vulnerable.
I get that it's to late now but there might be time to do it befor next horror season.

I do have staff that step up when I'm on holiday, but this is a different situation. It is so time critical that quick decisions, usually involving costs, need to be taken. For example, if the press goes down at 3 am, I am more likely to get a positive response when I ring the engineer and wake him up than one of my staff, because I pay the bill :D

TfI Friday!
Lally, tonight, drink then sleep, alot!

I am in a better frame of mind. Knowing for sure there is no cancer has lifted some big worries from me. The surgeon was really happy, he says he rarely gets to give the good news, so knowing that he has prevented me from getting the big C was a huge boost to him.

I could do with sleeping!

Band rehearsals were fun

Morning All,
I hope Lally is doing absolutely nothing and Mal is having a good time geeking :)

I am heading out to get a tax disc and hopefully a hair cut.
Kids are grumpy :(

Just to counter any rumors my presence here was just to meet loose UK women, my first try ever to make scones - attached. They totally didn't rise - by the time I learned that too much egg glazing prevents rising, they were already drenched.

Anyway, my wife was happily munching away, so I'm satisfied for now, despite the perfectionist in me.

And while I'm already here, sharing culinary achievements, I've also added a picture of my mushroom farm. I love mushrooms in all shapes and sizes.

If you brush with milk next time, it will give same browning effect without preventing rising.

One of the 'official' aims in scone baking is to get a natural split, so that they can be pulled apart rather than cut. And looking at your photo, you managed that :)

I had a good sleep, starting just after I'd finished eating last night!

Has to go into work briefly this morning to open up for today's deliveries but that only took a few minutes. Went shopping and bought some new clothes, and I'm now about to go round to see a friend whilst the boys moan about the football again
