German is about the easiest language to pick up if you know English - with a dictionary it shouldn't be hard to muddle through a German graphic novel because the grammar is very similar to English. But I do sympathize because I'm terrible at foreign languages, the idea of living in a country where no one spoke English is one of my nightmares, and I almost didn't graduate from college because of failing my foreign language requirement twice. x_X

Well, learning a foreign language is never easy. I wasn't talking about becoming fluent, just knowing enough that with a dictionary beside you you could (slowly) read a book in that language. But, perhaps you would agree that it would be more difficult to learn a very different language, like Japanese or Hebrew, than one which is pretty similar to your native language.

So, is it safe to assume no one's interested in doing a graphic novel, since I haven't gotten any replies or PMs about it? If it's just that people don't like the particular idea I proposed, I have others, and if you let me know what you want to see instead I could probably come up with an idea about that.

I've got some graphic novel script outlines sitting around if anyone wants to look.

One is a short surreal thing about plant-like people who metamorphosize in a way visually similar to pregnancy, and race is transmitted like a STD.

One is a longer more philosophical and realistic SF thing about a shapeshifter who goes through three human lovers (getting pregnant by the first one and eventually ending up happily back with him at the end, while the other two get together with each other after one is transformed into a hermaphrodite.)

One is a fluffy somewhat cliche gay romance involving a dragon, a knight, a nobleman, and a stableboy.

One the script is mostly written (though it's an anime script, would have to be converted to manga format) - that one's set somewhere vaguely like feudal Japan and is sort of a beauty and the beast story - a powerful character disliked by everyone and lonely until a particularly open-minded person comes along.

And I have a few other ideas that I haven't outlined yet.

I'm in no hurry. While I'd love to make an erotic graphic novel, I've had a lot of similar projects suck up a lot of time in the planning stage then never go anywhere because nobody actually wanted to do any drawing. I'm willing to work really hard on something if I have a partner who is enthusiastic and committed, but on the other hand I don't want to waste my time yet again on a project which never happens.

You should! I heard they were thinking of redoing Mazinger but I don't know. Mazinkaiser, I laughed in places until I cried. *grins* If you like mecha, you'll love the Mazinkaiser.

Yaoi Zowie

I thought: Yaoi includes gay male sex, but the term actually includes all sorts of unusual sexual (and some non-sexual) stuff, including BDSM, furry or neko characters, shapeshifters, aliens, etc.

I discovered to my dissapointment that a large amount of alledged yaoi has no m2m, just lots of random other stuff.

Am I wrong about this? If so, please let me know.

Also, can anyone recommend good gay webcomics (either manga or non) out there?

I have just gotten hold of The Adventures of Kekko Kamen, and it is still as fun, as I remember it to be, but sadly, then the dubbing has been replaced with other English speaking actors. So it isn´t the same fun, like the VHS version I had of episode 1. Since there Big Toenail Of Satans name was Satan Toecheese. But still it is a fun anime, I must say.
