The Outlook

A rather awkward grin stretched across her face--it was one that was genuine: bliss; it had been so long since she smiled like that, so her cheeks ached a little. She giggled, not because it was funny, but because the situation was a lot like that of a first crush: she wasn't sure how to respond or react she just knew that she was happy with the outcome. He missed her, which meant that he had been thinking about her probably as much as she had thought of him in her absence.

After he squeezed her knee a second time her fingertips stopped their cyclical motions, and she consciously made the effort to curl her fingertips around the side of his hand. She didn't profess to be a touchy-feely type, so, this action in itself was confirmation that she wanted to be near him; even though they were sitting beside each other on the couch, she needed to hold his hand.

Thoughts crossed her mind: 'where do we go from here? What should I say now?' She bit her bottom lip and bowed her head briefly only to look back up into his eyes. Her lips parted as if she were about to say something, but she decided otherwise and squeezed his hand gently, stroking the back of his hand softly with her thumb. It was a nice moment: why bother ruining it with words?

*Her actions were definitely that of the shy young miss he'd met and tried to get out of her shell. They'd made some progress, but in her absence he was sure that she had retreated just a fraction. He intended to rectify that, but he'd have to be gentle. That much he remembered clearly.

The silence stretched on a bit longer before he reached for his glass, the remnants of the ice clinking about as he took a deep swallow. He returned the now half-emptied glass to the table and returned his focus to her. She was still blushing, whether or not she realized it. He found it to be quite adorable, and with one hand, he brushed an errant strand of her hair from her face, fingertips lingering on her cheekbone.*

I'd forgotten how rosy-cheeked you got...it's cute.

*His perpetual smile continued; her presence seemed to radiate a warm, happy, almost giddy feeling*

She giggled at his statement and withdrew her hand from his: every time it was brought up she managed to turn a different hue of red. A nervous giggle followed and she tried to focus on not blushing: her cheeks quite fiery with introversion. She began to fidget and bit the inside of her cheek.

"Thank you," she responded after her internal fight. She let out a soft exhale and glanced at their glasses. She didn't particularly want the rest of her rum runner and wasn't entirely sure if she was blushing because she was generally timid or because of the synonymous 'beer coat' that accompanied most alcoholic beverages. "Could we..." she began, glancing back at him. "Possibly go for a walk? its rather warm in here..."

She reminisced before he answered: that special spot they visited twice... it seemed appropriate to re-engage what they had, bring back the memories. In fact, she thought it to be quite a good suggestion.

Sure thing. A walk would be lovely.

*He too recalled their time spent on the sandy shores of the Outlook. He finished his drink, leaving the glass on the table. He rose slowly, offering her a hand, that same smile still playing on his lips. He was sure his cheeks would go numb at some point from all of the grinning. A welcome thing, he supposed.*

She couldn't help but not smile too: his smile was of the infectious sort and as she took his hand and stood she felt herself feel a little less fragile: the need to feel on guard constantly nearly ceased. Some of the cares of the world seemed to melt away here, with him. She supposed that it wouldn't matter where they went, she would be much more at ease around him than around people she came into contact with every day--including family. It was a strange feeling: butterflies; she felt a little floaty headed, dream-like. She liked it, it was a change from stress-stress-stress-stress-helplessness.

She began to walk with him towards the doors that lead out to the overlook where the stairs were. Her fingertips laced between his, and she moved closer to hold his arm gently with her other hand as they passed through the door frame. As the exited the interior of the outlook she quickly withdrew from him to swiftly kick off her wedge heels and set them by the side of the overlook's seating area: it was silly but she loved the sand on her feet. She quickly came back to him and took his hand again; Her eyes fell as the neared the stairs leading to the beach, and she let go of his hands long enough to walk down the steps: both hands on either rail; she was accident prone, after all, and it'd be a big mess if she tumbled from this height, especially so if she knocked him over (it would be awful).

*They made their way to the steps down to the beach, stopping only for her to lose her shoes. He watched as she extricated herself from his side to take the stairs carefully. Poor dear was worried of being a klutz, but he wouldn't mind at all if she stumbled. It would give him a chance to catch her, a thought that made his smile widen momentarily.

Once they'd made it to the bottom of the stairs, he was happy to see her re-link their hands, her other hand holding his arm amiably. He led the way down the sand, moving closer to the slow tide washing ashore cyclically.*

The witch wanders along the shore line, giggling as the waves submerge her feet...her calves...her knees...soaking the bottom of her dress and making her already wobbly walk more unsteady.

Fearing she might end up in the surf completely, she moves out of the water and sits down on the sand, cheeks rosy and eyes bright as she sips the remainder of her drink and watches the waves coming and going.

The witch wakes up on the sand, not entirely sure how she got there but happy she decided to fall asleep out of the reach of the waves. She sits up, shaking sand from her hair and rubbing her eyes, arching her back in a stretch that jars her head a little.
Licking her lips her eyes look out over the ocean and her mouth widens in to a smile. Rising she peels off the sundress, leaving her naked save for a pair of panties, and runs into the surf. Disappearing with a gleeful shriek under the water.
Best way to wake up and rid oneself of the remnants of too much to drink.
Splashing and giggling she plays in the waves, feeling the aerated water caress her skin as each one passes by.

He has not been here in a while. There are many reasons he has not. Sometimes its just difficult anymore. Real life gets in the way, drama gets in the way. He seeks the sollace of the beach though this day. He has no real idea why, what drew him to return again. He always does, whether it will be for a while or a brief visit as it was last week, has yet to be seen. He strips off his clothing and makes his way into the waves. He works on his deep breathing trying to relax, trying to keep himself at peace. He feels pulled in a hundred directions by his life, by his hopes and his fears, and his concerns.

He hopes the calmness of the waves will soothe him. Will he remain alone? or does he still have friends lurking about who will come join him. there are many he has not seen in a while. He grows sad at this. He feels bad that he has so abandoned most of them.

"You're never alone, Warrior..." her voice came softly from the shadows as she stepped free of them and made her way toward the rail, placing her hands on it and staring out at the sea for a long moment, then turned her head to study him silently.

"Hello, Glad. It is good to see you grace this place once more." She smiled softly.

He rose from the waves, not bothering to hide his form from her as he heard her voice. There was nothing he was ashamed of, nothing she hadn't seen before. He lept up and over the rail landing gracefully beside her, bare feet lightly impacting the surface of the deck. He found himself surprised she was the one to greet him. Things had been so strained in the past. He stepped ccloser and layed his hand over hers. His eyes meeting hers before he looked out over the waves again. "I do not know what drew me back." he says softly after a long moment.

"Perhaps friends did, Glad. We've missed you."

She wasn't dead or cold-bloodied, her eyes admired his form as he rose from the sea. He had come to see her, at the mansion, to try and find a way for them be comfortable around each other again.

"I told you. I would always know when you were around."

He laughed, "I forgot you had said that." he said, he really hadn't forgotten, it was more a he hadn't known if she meant it. He stepped closer. his fingers lacing with hers, "I've missed you all too. I've been infrequent im conversation with you and Thyri, and PM with Fr33k, but yes I've not talked to any of you much lately... Its been hard." he murmers.

She gently squeezed his fingers, "Of course it has, Glad. It's never easy finding your way back or finding where you stand with anyone. Me included."

Never one to pussyfoot around. She grabbed the bull by the horns, so to speak. Nothing good came of skirting around issues or people. She and Glad had history. That wasn't something to hide or rehash, but something to mutually remember and move forward from there. Where that was? She had no idea, but she did know that from here, it was going to move far slower than it had before.

"I miss laughing with you, I miss that connection we seemed to have. dammit I miss everyone around here. I don't know what to do anymore. don't know what's between us, how to act around you. I fear I have to walk on egg shells, so I ran away." he let loose with a torent, unable to believe he was saying all this. He turned to look at her finally. "Do you know how rare that is for me? I usually try to confront and resolve conflict. But I was just so confused I ran away. I know you said its water under the bridge and I should let that go. I want to, the problem becomes that its hard to let go cause we never really resolved anything and I have no idea where I stand, or as I said how to act aroundyou..." he said. He wasn't in any way yelling, but his words did come in a bit of a rush, as he released some sort of barrier within himself.

She turned slightly toward him. "We've been lovers and friends, Glad. That leaves leeway to be more companionable than some, affectionate even," she smiled, remembering that touch was something high on his list.

"I don't know if we'll ever be lovers again. Right now?" she squeezed his hand, "No, but that doesn't mean you have to walk on eggshells around me either. I asked you to give me some space and you did. We have a connection, Glad. We always will. It's been strained and stressed, but as far as I'm concerned, it's still there."

He sighed and stepped closer, "Why not lovers?" he asked his voice dropping a bit, "Not exclusive lovers or anything. but I miss your touch, miss feeling comfortable around you." his hand came up to stroke her cheek. It was obvious in his eyes that he wanted her. He wasn't forcing her wasn't even trying to push too hard, just letting his desire known.

Her eyes closed at his touch and she brought up a hand to cover his on her cheek before she opened her eyes...

"We don't need to be sexual to feel comfortable around each other, Glad. In fact, I rather work on feeling comfortable around each other again and if the other happens," she shrugged, "it happens. Right now, I just miss my friend."

he nods, "So do I." he presses closer, and presses his lips to hers. he keeps it light, exploratory, more to rebuild connection than anything else.

She kissed him back, just as lightly, her hands going to his hips and resting there. She smiled against his lips, then broke the kiss to tease him.

"Glad? I really do think you should put some clothes on."

He laughed, "What, can't resist the temptation?" he asked smirking just a bit, his hand moving down to circle himself. Just that kiss with her had made him react.

"Perhaps instead you should take yours off and go swimming with me." he said wickedly.

She looked down at him a moment then back up into his teasing green eyes, shaking her head, laughing.

"I'll pass thank you. Swimming with you never ends with just swimming." she headed for the bar to order a drink. As she passed him, she flipped her hand backwards, slapping him lightly on his bare ass she went.

He laughed, and grabbing his towel snapped her with it as she walked away before he put the towel back around his waist. "I can totally go swimming without having it end with you stretched out beneath me moaning with pleasure." he looked thoughtful, ""wait a damn minute here, the last time we went swimming together here, it was me that ended up stretched out beneath you rithing with pleasure. And suddenly I'm the one to blame for it?" he said sticking out his tongue at her.

She gave a little skip as the towel found its mark on her ass cheek. She swore softly, good-naturedly, ordering her drink. She turned, leaning back against the bar as she watched and listened to him, grinning. She held up a hand, laughing, wondered if he would get it right, he did.

"Not blaming you, Glad, just stating the obvious."

She turned a bit, picking up her glass of cold ice water that bore a strawberry in the bottom of her glass, taking a sip.

"And you best stick that tongue of yours back in your mouth."

shuffles in, a beach towel draped over her right shoulder and wearing a modest swim suit, she walks over to an empty lounge chair and lays down, before putting on a pair of sunglasses... this is a lazy day and she intends to spend it doing just that, being lazy...

unwilling to interrupt her two friends she lets a note fall into Glad's hand along with a kush*

Hello stranger,
Hope all is well with you and that you will drop me a line soon. I have missed your friendship during my absence.
