The Wine and Cheese Thread

Last week I bought probably my favourite cheese. Previously this was something that sat in the fridge or on the cheese board and whispered my name seductively. Since my period of cheese abstinence I have had two piece and want no more.

I say the same about sex...use it or lose it. Chastity would be a bad course of action as intended punishment or to make me keener.

Yeah Unlike cheese, your a human being with primal needs, Processed milk curds into a solid form isn't one of them. I Went 5 years semi celibate. always need some birthday love.

that was 15 years ago, my sex life is fine like riding a bike :)

What kind of cheese?

My last foray into cheese play was with some fontina :)

Step 1. Talk to everyone possible about making cheese.
Step 2. RTFM :D
Step 3. More talky.
Step 4. RTFM again.
Step 5. Buy cheese making supplies.

Check, check, check, check and checkypoo!

Step 6. #@¢* it all up the first time around and learn valuable lessons.
^^^^^ That's where I will be tomorrow :p

<3 you for the RTFM reference! A lot!

Alright! I can't stand wine. I've never really enjoyed it. I decided that maybe I should try something and so I bought a small bottle of pink moscato. I purchased this with the idea that it would be sweeter and possibly more bearable than things I've tasted in the past.

I've read up on what to pair it with and basically either spicy foods or some kind of dessert. What do you think would be best?

Well, the milk was so delicious I just drank it :p and cheese making will have to wait

Meeks, I'm not familiar with pink moscato, but here's my two cents anyway. If you like sweet, a lot, go with dessert. It will be sweet on sweet, but that's ok. Or maybe something not overly sweet for dessert? Like sugared walnuts or something.

If you like contrast, go with the spicy. Maybe sweet/spicy? I think that would be the best, actually. A sweet and spicy sauce, like a sweet sour type idea. But I'm just guessing :) You could open it and taste it and then decide. If it's refrigerated, you can close it back up and it should be fine until you are ready to use it.

Hmmmm... That wasn't very helpful, was it? :D

I second the idea of trying the pink moscato with something hot and spicy. A few years ago, someone challenged a panel of wine experts to recommend a good wine to pair with hot Buffalo-style chicken wings (Hooters, as I recall). The most common recommendation was a somewhat sweet sparkling wine. Your pink moscato is very close to that recommendation.

Of course we want a full report later! :)

( ̄ー ̄) So far it's good. The spicy meal is quite nice with this cold, slightly fizzy, sweet drink. I'm kind of enjoying it. It's a nice break from beer.

Like you Meeks, I like to challenge my self to try and develop taste for what I do not like. But mainly if its a vegetable or good healthy food. Tbh, if I didn't like wine I don't think I'd bother trying to develop a taste for it. Its not as if its particularly beneficial ( the claims of red wine excluded.....but that can be replicated in other ways).

I love wine, and as daughter of a functioning alcoholic am always aware that it could easily be me.

Typically I challenge myself to a second try of bitter melon (I've lost every time). But this is one if those things I'd really like to understand more. I associate wine with a douchebag, abusive ex so I've always just written it off as "do not like." But I figure it's time to finally let that go.

As for alcoholism, I'm well aware of the dangers.
