Things that made you smile today ~ 2013

Me three!!!!

Today's smiles are brought to you by the letter 'B'...briliant writing in the challenge thread, birthday celebrations this weekend, boxing up the kitchen ready for renovating it, bookings and brainstorming.

Am a happy Brit.

That's a lot of B's!!!!! Glad to see you Back... hehe. :D

There's a writer, in the threads, very prolific, who sets a very high standard for her writing partners. In her signature, she sets out extensive rules including those relating to grammar and spelling. Of course, as such people are wont to do, she is particular about the use of their, there and they're. She finishes with the fairly judgmental statement that people who dare to write to her exhibiting poor skills in this regard will be consigned to the "asshat thread", whatever that is.

She looks like an interesting character though, and I have been tempted to try and hook up with her, so when she recently started a new thread, I thought I would have a read and see if we had compatible styles.

In her first post, there are no less than 20 spelling and grammatical errors (find it and count them), including the mortal sin of using they're, when she should have used their.

That's what made me smile today.

Had to admit I had a solid chuckle at this. I have always enjoyed watching folks receive their comeuppance, especially when said pill is made bigger by their own failure to comply with a set of self imposed rules.

If nothing else, this is a reminder to not judge someone based solely upon such small things. We are after all just as prone to failures as every other person.

The little monkey and I have been spending these chilly mornings up in his room, waiting for the warmer afternoons, to go out. I sit and knit and sing songs while he pulls down every book on the shelf and alternates between telling me what he sees in them, and casually destroying them. ("Be gentle with your books!" means little, if you don't know what "gentle" means... I spend a lot of time taping them up again.)

Today I was head down, concentrating on a cable row when I heard a sound like crinkling plastic. I glanced up to see him standing next to his changing table, looking at something in his hand and making fists around it.

I thought: "Oh god - where the heck did he find a handful of clear plastic??" and dashed over to take it from him....

...only to discover that it was in fact a handful of Vaseline. :p

Made me laugh after I'd cleaned him up and put his changing supplies out of reach. He was so pleased with himself, and so fascinated! I can't be upset with him for exploring his world. (But yuck - what a mess!)

Going home!

Also, bizarre and random PMs.

Do those PM's go a little something like this ... "Hello, 43 male literature professor here. Hope you are well and I was just wondering if you find this arousing?"

this being a very disturbing link that I curse my curiosity for making me click against my better judgement.

Although I would guess (hope) not, as I'm assuming though bizarre and random they made you smile. :p

LOL, Alice I seriously think it may be a rite of passage for all little ones to mess about with either vaseline or baby oil (sometimes cooking oil as well, if I were to believe some of my friends) at one point or another.

Just be glad you caught him while it was still just in his hand. I remember when we caught my youngest niece in a similar situation, except she had time to smear it all over her head and through her hair. A week later her hair was still shiny as ever despite all the hot baths and shampooing she got.

Bills. Unusual things to make me smile but the purchases and investments that the bills are for are awesome! :D

It's well below freezing now, even during the day, hopefully that means the snow won't be far behind.

Baking gingerbread with the mini witches...

...eating said gingerbread.

Three days a week in the gum has kept me within 6 pounds of my college weight.

This is a typo I saw in an rp a few minutes ago. Obviously it's meant to be 'gym'. But here in the UK 'gum' means Genito-urinary medicine. I found it hilarious that three days a week in a sexual health clinic kept her within 6 pounds of her college weight. Someone likes a lot of cock.
