Things that piss you off?

I decided to check my credit report today... Someone has used my name (with a different fraudulent address) to open an account with Cingular Wireless... And it seems I have an outstanding balance of $151 which has gone to collections.

Well, to make things worse, I tried to dispute it online, but was given a phone number... I called the number and got the runaround from an automated system.

And I don't even have a phone number for the colletion agency so that I can dispute it directly.

This shit has my credit rating mare than 50 points lower than it should be!

dude... this sucks big time. so sorry to hear about it and i hope it gets squared away soon. just remember that when an error appears on your credit report, even after it's clarified, your credit report doesn't just bounce back to normal immediately (which sucks even more).

it makes you wonder what the schmuck at the cell phone store gets paid for. when i sold cell phones there was photo ID requirements and whatnot... damn near impossible to sell to the wrong person unless they spent a shitload of money getting phony documentation.

I figured that, but I've been in a wiseass mood for a few days (i'm sure it doesn't show here  ) and, thinking about the ol' nike campaign, I had to Just Do It.
it's all good... i laughed because it was funny but just didn't want anyone to think i was ragging on their complaints here in WPMO.

It's been a while, so bear with me.

First thing, if you haven't done so, you need to file a fraud alert with the three credit companies. If you don't have the number, you can call 1800-528-4800 (It's actually for American Express, which I used to work for, but they have all three agencies' phone numbers that they can give you). Call each one, dispute the reporting.

Call a local Cingular store and get an address for the main office, headquarters. Dispute the account in writing, and keep a copy for your records. Require a response from them in your letter so that you will know it has been received and acknowledged. Ask when the account was set up, from which store, etc. Keep copies of everything.

Unless it was an employee "doing a favor" for your friend, this is probably just the beginning. Be sure to request copies of your credit reports often until it's been about 6 months with no activity.

Best of luck.

People that want to own me.

People that won't take NO for an answer.

People that don't understand the meaning of "Fuck off."

Yeah, that.

Pisses me off people constantly ignore the age rule here. How fucking hard is it to read the rule that says ''NO MENTION OF UNDR 18`S HAVING SEX'' some people need to get slapped.

i understand your point and frustration... but i think that making three posts inside of an hour is a bit much. it's not going to immediately self-correct.

if you're going to complain about something, keep these three things in mind...

1. know WHY you're complaining. "i don't like 'x'," isn't sufficient to grant your complaint any consideration.

2. have an understanding of why what you're complaining about is how/what it is. you don't have to agree with it but you have to understand its origin and purpose.

3. have an idea of some type of resolution that would be beneficial to whomever created the thing or situation you're complaining about. clearing up your discontentment is only of concern to the offender if they can still accomplish their objective... making you happy is often of little concern to them.

if you can't get a handle on these three things, your complaint isn't worth shit. shut up and move on.
Rule #4: If you have complained about this same issue before and it's under your control, I just don't want to hear about it again. If it wasn't important enough for you to apply your own intelligence and energy to fix it when you could have done so, then it certainly isn't important enough for you to waste my time with a repeat of your complaint. And yes, bitching about the same fixable thing for 28 years is exactly what I'm talking about.

an excellent suggestion/addition.

Well, I filed disputes with all three credit reporting agencies and initiated a fraud alert.

Now, let's see what happens when I call Cingular.

How in the hell could they NOT have realized that this was fraud? I ALREADY have an account with them!

i neither kissed nor told. the simple fact of the matter is that there are families in jamaica queens who are mystified by the noises from across the river each weekend. :D
