Things that piss you off?

Hey Yank! Yep that could have been worse. Fortunately, as a seasoned traveler, I know better. Which leads me to my next WPMO...

You go through security at a U.S. airport and everyone is so fucking PC! If I set the detector off, they have to call for a 'male' wand check, then some asshole comes over all apologetic and asks if it's 'ok' if he pats me down. Then he uses the back of his hand so I won't take offense. I mean WTF? Is this security or 'consideration of others' PC training bullshit???

You want to feel secure? Go overseas. They have the military with machine guns running security. You beep, they shove their hands down your pants without asking. No 'please', no apologies. The way it ought to be.

If you are afraid of being 'offended' then you ought to stay home or take the fucking bus!!!

Wow Yank. You really got me all worked about that tonight,..

I was checking in at LAX about 8 days after 9/11 and had some granola bars removed from my briefcase by a guy carrying an M-16. That was not even close to PC.

Yep. That's how it is in Europe now and the way it ought to be if you ask me.

I am sick of everyone crying about being offended all the time by the very people or system that is trying to protect you. If you don't like it, then get rid of the security. But no bitching when planes start falling out of the sky.

I know, I know. I have never been acused of being very PC myself.

That does happen. In some areas of this forum (not here) where it seems to matter to some people what your post count is , I am ignored on a regular basis. Of course, I don't post there very much, even though I do lurk a lot, so most people over there don't know me at all.

Anyhow, come here! I promise I won't ignore you! :rose:

*smiles*

Thank you BG!!!!!! You are too sweet...*ggls*. I too have been to the "otherside" and have been completely ignored. And to be honest, I really didn't care cuz there was an awful lot of closed mindedness(word?) in that forum. I don't like that and try not to partake in behavior like that. I don't mean to make that sound snobby, I just don't like posters who have a definate closed mind. The person who started the thread I'm talking about used to talk to me quite often....and now I can't get her to say as much as a hello to me...and I never did a thing to her!! It just pisses me off that people can be so finicky to be happy go lucky and friendly one day and as cold as ice the next. Anyhow, sorry for venting, but Thank you hon, for allowing me too...*hugs* And better yet, Thank you for not ignoring me...you sound like quite the special person... :rose:

My husband spent 27 years with our state's highway patrol. When he went through the patrol academy in the late 70's it was a 16-week program. Now it's at least 26 weeks, and a lot of the extra coursework is PC/sensitivity training bullshit. Seriously. And the reason it's become so damn PC is because people are either more offended than they should be or they're more vocal about being offended.

A couple of winters ago, an guy called my husband's patrol post to complain to the supervisor on duty (hubby) because a trooper patted him down before he let him get into the cruiser.

God bless your husband and his many years of service. As part of my many and varied duties, I have close contact with the sheriffs department where I live and other law enforcement agencies. It is frightening to see the bullshit they have to put up with while earning so little at the very real risk of life and limb. Having said that, I am continually comforted by the many men and women I meet. Not only do I appreciate and respect the most difficult job they do, but I am impressed with the professionalism they carry with them to work every day and night.

He's glad that he's not doing it anymore, though because he was a stat employee, he was better compensated than most small-town officers. :D

Oh, and you know when cops have to use pepper spray, Mace, a Taser or other physical force? That's no longer called "use of force"; the PC name for it is "response to resistance."

When my dear beloved husband empties the ice trays, then forgets to refill them, after using all the ice.

(thank the stars for insulated gel ice cups in the freezer and party ice balls left over in the freezer from summer cookouts.)

My wife used to do that and several variation. Sometimes she'd use all the cubes in a tray except 1 or 2, and put it back in the freezer. sometimes she'd leave trays out and they'd all melt. the worst was when she'd use part of a tray, fill the empty ones up, and put it back in. I'd use the tray, not noticing that some weren't completely frozen, and twist the tray, only to get shards of ice and water everywhere.

the fridge we has an automatic icemaker, i'll never go back. we use enough ice that it never gets stale.

ohh..i recognize that variation well.

i need a new fridge...hell, i need a new kitchen...make that a new house. [sighs]

i steadfastly refuse to return an ice cube tray to the freezer with only 1 or 2 ice cubes. i'd rather throw 'em in the sink.

oh scaly, do NOT get me started on the recycling issue. we don't have to crush our cans, but we are required by city ordinances to recycle all of our plastic, glass, cans curbside as well as the newspapers. any cardboard has to be taken to the recycling plant.

it is three...count them three...steps from our sink to the recycling bin we have indoors, yet, invariably, my kitchen counter is always strewn with soda cans that he hubby has emptied. it's not that hard to rinse them out and take three steps to the recycling bin. of course, as tall as he is, it would probably take him two steps. [grumbles]

Both my knees are fucked up at 25 years old.

Well I am nearly 20 years older, but 25+ years of hard soccer are taking their toll. Still no surgery which is more than most of my friends and teammates can claim. But they tend to stay sore for a couple of days after each game. Now trying to play twice a week means I am stiff and sore more days than not each week. But I just can't give up the competitiveness. I need it more for my emotional well being than my physical well being. Go figure...

Someone call me cutie???

Hey Jazey! I have been doing fine. Healing most of the summer (long story) but nothing compared to some I know so I will not whine here. That and traveling my ass off. Later this week again in fact.

How have you been?

My daughter feels the same way. After playing soccer, softball, and basketball all through high school and college, she misses the competitiveness. She's beginning a training regimen for running. Her ultimate goal is to run a marathon. She now wants to compete with herself if that makes sense.

I'll do that. :)

Wow. A marathon you say? I cannot imagine the personal determination something like takes. My hats off to anyone that tackles a challenge like that. And yes, I can see where that would give one an incredible sense of accomplishment.

I appreciate that. And I do much of the same thing in different ways. Not so much in traditional solo sporting events... But last year, I backpacked the Grand Canyon for 9 days with my son and some friends (scouts). It was incredibly difficult and challenging. Both mentally as well as physically. But in the end, it was nothing short of 'cleansing'. Something I desperately needed at the time for so many reasons.

But I still miss the physical nature of challenging another. Probably just a guy/testosterone thing. But I like the rough play and physical contact. Of beating another on the field of battle. Not to be confused with the occasional rough play I enjoy indoor, with a woman, beating her ass with a flogger... ;)

I asked my mom to write out a quick list of names so that we could get an idea of how many people we're looking at for the reception... She rattled off a few names and then told me that she couldn't think of anyone else... Thanks for nothing.
