This is not a porn board

A lot of women love it. Most guys would love having women get off to them as well. Hell, that's a big reason we write the stories.

No - there's porn here. It's just that this place isn't just about the porn, or just about the quick nut-busting.

Perhaps it's partially a pet peeve of mine since I largely hang out in the GB, and that section is FAR from being a 'porn board'. I kinda just wanted people to realize that there's more to this place than just the ceaseless killing of innocent tissues.

:D
I see what you mean. I've just been calling it that in general, I guess because where I mostly hang out is in the Am Pics area.

Raw, just want to throw might support behind you. I don't believe Lit is a porn board either. I believe Lit is a "community" no matter what area you're in. I like this definition for community from webster's.

d: a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society

Let's take a nudist colony as a tangible example. The people living in a nudist colony aren't there to stand around in a circle jerk all day so if someone peeping through the bushes is pulling their pud looking at nudists, that doesn't make the colony anything other than a nudist colony. That isn't to say that people that simply jerk off to AmPics aren't part of the community, just not part of the community that this place was built for, IMHO.

As for kicking off perpetrators of fraud, I say hell yeah! We as the community should set the standards for what we accept. If you don't like the standards of a particular community, go somewhere else. Don't try to tell them what they can and can't do in their community.

Maybe some of you remember a guy that had posted pix of himself standing in an open bath robe in front of a window. He posted that he was exposing himself to children outside the window with a hard-on clearly exposed. I reported him and after reading about 15 posts telling him he should castrate himself, I got the impression he wasn't welcome in our community. So what's the difference? We can say child molesters aren't welcome but can't say the same for frauds? We as the community dictate our own standards just like in real life, crazy I know.

I think everyone can see that their is a clear difference between Lit and someplace with a thousand nameless pictures of nude women. Some have said you are splitting hairs or it's just semantics, but I wonder which side of the bushes those people are on. That being said, I'm not making a judgement on any individual here. How can we unless we know you. It's just a question you have to answer for yourself. Long live meaningful debate! :D

i don't often venture outside of ampix.

is this brouhaha an extension of something that's going on elsewhere in the board?

Ok, so i will take the other side to which it seems i might be in the miniority.

This is a porn board. one, we can all agree its a board, so to speak, right? However, if one wants to dispute that... ok, i got nothing there

I think that Raw is splitting hairs. Regardless of whether you want to believe those who post pics is real or not, which it does seem that some are obsessed with proving it one way or another, This is a porn site. I dont have a dictionary in front of me, but i do believe that porn is considered sexual images used to stimulate someone.

Now if i am wrong and that isnt the definition, my apologies. But i tend to think that this site is used my many in several different facets. Some DO use it to get off, never caring if they talk to a single person or not, just as long as they have that orgasm. Some use it to post their stories and do take this very seriously. But whether its amateur or professional, that doesnt make it any less stimulating to those who use it to get off.

I wont say you take yourself too seriously, Raw, but i havent really seen in your arguement what makes it not a porn site

i agree with parts of what you say.

authenticity, i dig. fakes and rip-offs bug me b/c it disrupts my conception of this place where i can swoon to the woman next door.

however, precisely because of that, i've also gotta remember my fantasy is still a fantasy.

like so much of the internet, i think many ppl here let loose their deep desires, free themselves and express, largely *because* there are boundaries--even flagrant transgressions of norms occur from a place of relative safety and are not quite 'really real.'

women may happily exhibit their naked bodies here but i doubt many of them would visit me to deliver a private performance (well, perhaps i sell myself short).

long and short--fantasy. and i just happen to use the word porn for that. maybe it's not the most accurate term...and debates between porn and erotica aren't really the flavor of the day for me personally.

i get it, or i got it anyway, at one time, but for me nomenclature just signals whether i'm feeling comfortable or guilty about what arouses me.

does a breast have to be shown with soft light and floating dust motes to be artistic? can a grainy close-up of a vagina that doesn't observe the law of thirds be beautiful?

i like all sorts of stuff, and find a wide range of things beautiful, sensuous, sensual, etc. i also kinda forgot my train of thought.

*wanders off to find somewhere to stick my sword*

Oops, my bad. I've been calling it a porn board. Just because it's got Am pics instead of pros doesn't mean it's not porn?

i think it's time some of our fellow litsters ventured outside of ampics!

i very rarely check out those threads... there's a few i'm subscribed to, but that's the extent... i love logging in to my lit account to catch up with friends.. well that's how i see it anyhow

happy posting :)

Ha ha! I started out at the playground, then came here, recently had fun in general. But I've always called it a porn board. Why does it matter, anyway?

Stealing a post from another thread that I thought made a great point:

http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=30695810&postcount=50

Can I have a kidney?

For me it's a question of insecurities... explaining:

I, like many of the authors/editors/smart people here, am not beautiful.
I don't consider myself ugly, but I know heads are not turning when I pass down the street (unless they're turning the other way :p)

A thread like theese exposes the shyness that comes from this fact. If I come in and see average REAL people (for instance Lominiel or cchheels (no preference, these were just the newer ones at time of writing) with normal insecurities, hidden fetishes or whatever it is, I might feel safer to take on the role of anonymous and expose myself with all my defects and "ugliness"... God knows that I'm ashamed/insecure of myself IRL as it is, no need to feel as ashamed/insecure online, right?

If I come here and I see post after post of perfect ladies, centerfold material, huge dicks, rock-hard abs, taut young breasts, unblemished legs and so forth and so on... I'll consider myself even more ugly, even more disgusting... and that afffects A LOT the outcome of this section of the board...

If it's porn I want, there are plenty of other places to get it.

I'm not really talking about erotica vs porn or tasteful vs not. What I'm somewhat saying is that there's more to the Lit forums than just Am Pics, and there's more to Am Pics than just some quick jerk material for the guys.

This I completely agree with. And even the post you just "borrowed". That's initially why I started coming around. REAL people, who show me that I'm not alone and that alone helps me discover who I am in regard to my sexuality.

careful in assuming. it can make you look foolish:rolleyes:

just because i posted my opinion, that certainly doesnt mean that i use lit just to get off. I merely pointed out that i didnt think Raw was accurate in saying this isnt a porn board. To many, it's so much more than a porn site. However, there are some that use it to get off, and away they go. So i dont think Raw can say that because it is all in one's perspective.

I hope you don't mind a playgrounder lurking to add to the thread.

I absolutely agree with Evolution above. I came to lit for all kinds of reasons and found a hugely accepting community of real people who helped me come to terms with some aspects of myself and my sexuality that I was struggling with.

I am a more confident and much happier with myself because of being accepted for what I am and have been able to enter into a truly adult, mature relationship because of that-not because of lit-but because of what the friendships and relationships I have had with the people here has done for me. I have been able to push my boundaries further than I ever had without the attendant fallout that I would have had previously.

Lit is an adult site to me-so much more than JUST a porn board.

Thanks guys

Jane

it doesn't 'matter'... it's just the topic for discussion in this thread... are we not allowed to discuss the topic in this discussion???

becareful in seeming foolish cratchit darling
just in case you missed this earlier...

perhaps raw should change the title of this thread to include the word 'just'???
i didn't realise you were the only person allowed to have an opinon on the topic am i not permitted to share my personal expereince of lit??? i apologise... really i do.

"To many, it's so much more than a porn site"
i thought that was exactly the point i made in my initial post... although i could be wrong....

hmmmmm...

All i am saying is that while i agree it is more than a porn board, to say its not for some isnt true. Perhaps i am debating a petty point, but i am simply say its all in one's perspective. Everyone uses lit for different reasons
