Thyri's humble little shack out back

I don't have many SRPs. They almost always die off. People say they'll continue, but "Forget" about them. Right now, I only have one, a group SRP.

*Sitting here reflecting on this being one year to the day that I've been on Lit. I think about the friends I've made, and the ones who've gone their own ways. Some have left Lit, or rarely visit.

I'm ashamed to say that a few people I have not been able to keep as a friend. I regret having hurt them.

And there are a few people for whom I have no interest in associating with.

My stories have come and gone as well. I can say that there are none that I have abandoned, though at least one has gone a while without a reply. I intend to get back to it at some point. A few never really got started.

But it is the friends I've made that mean the most to me. Some have supported me through very difficult times, and I won't forget that. Some, I hope I've been able to help and support in similar ways. I refrain from listing their names of those who mean something special to me, only because there are so many, and I'm sure I would leave someone out accidentally.

There have been times I thought about walking away, but overall I'm glad I didn't. I know there will be times in the future when those feelings reoccur. I will take them as they come. Some day the time will come that this place will need to become part of my past, and it will be time to move on to another phase of my life.

But for now, it's home, a place to visit with established friends, reach out to make new ones, and be a friend in return.*

*He notices Thyri is for once in her retreat when he's cruising past. She seems contemplative*

Hi Thyri - doing some reflecting?

Hi Fish. Yes, I was just thinking about our story. I'm having some difficulty going from the mindspace of a warrior centauress burnt out from too much war to little Katrina. I know it will come in time, but you've been waiting all week. I'm sorry it's taking so long.

Yes - it almost becomes like a game of tennis where the story is so challenging that you work on it, think about it, work on it some more and then send off the post happy that it's now the other writer that has to think about it ;)

Yes - a warrior centauress to a warrior doll is a long reach, but at least they're both warriors *easy for the Fish to say...*

I am not concerned at the delay of your reply - the quality is always worth the wait!

I hope the quality is there this time too. Sometimes I go back and read previous posts I've made, even in the same story, and I think, 'Wow, who wrote that, it's really good! Especially compared to the crap I'm writing recently!'

I'm sure that it will be of high quality - the fact that you are musing on it and thinking about it guarantees it ;)

A good writer is often the harshest critic of their own work.

Btw - I haven't seen any crap from you.

Btw - how ridiculously technophobic am I? I only learnt 'btw' meant 'by the way' about a week or so ago, now I use it all the time!

btw - see???????

New story idea

Amelia is an animal control officer for a fairly large western city. She's competent, capable, assured in her own world as she sees it. No one would consider her a submissive delicate little flower of a woman.

But one day she responds to a call about a stray dog prowling a rural area, chasing cattle, possibly killing small pets (cats, small dogs, etc). It turns out the 'dog' is actually a werewolf in it's four legged form. She is bit in the encounter and infected.

Soon she is faced with the Change and has no idea of how to behave in polite wolf society. Until the werewolf who changed her returns to teach her the ways of dominance and submission in pack society.

As a twist, perhaps the werewolf who changed her is not the alpha, but maybe the omega or some lower standing wolf in the pack. Still, by virtue of experience, the werewolf is dominant to Amelia in her wolf form. But as time goes on, and she gains confidence, will it stay that way?

Or perhaps the human form of the wolf who changes her is someone she knows, perhaps an underling in the human world, but in the werewolf world, is higher ranking in the pack than the newbie.

*Giggles* :D

It's alright. I had to ask what QFT meant. There are still a few that make me scratch my head now and again.

Well that sort of makes me feel better....sort of!

Ok - it was nice to drop in and see you, but with everyone bloody talking about food, I'm off to find some for myself.

I'm glad you're giggling too ;)

Seeya.

Bye for now, or should that be BFN? :D

Attempt at levity (though I don't much feel like it)

So people ask me, "Thyri, why such a place like this for such a beautiful, wonderful, sweet, sensitive, kind, loving, attractive, sexy, likeable, creative, talented, playful, fun loving, supportive, warm hearted, caring, absolutely stunningly gorgeous, hot, generous, sincere, affectionate, and all around nice girl like you? Why create an outhouse as your home thread. Really?"

Well, first of all, yes, they really do say all those things about me. :D I know you're skeptical! I never said they say them all at once. ;)

And second, I didn't exactly create this place. I was looking for a place, and happened to find this one. And....well.....no one was 'using it' at the time. So I just settled right in and got comfortable since I figured I'd be here a while. You see, I don't really own this place, I'm just taking it over. You might even say I'm a 'squatter'. :D

Besides, what better place for someone with ulcerative colitis than a shit house?

Hi Thyri - well, I for one like it. Not many people take into account my limitations. What, with castles, bars etc it's all ok for them to go "poof" like smoke or run in or fly in or.... well it's hard to swim into a castle or a catacomb. You've taken all species into consideration.

I appreciate my Equal Opportunity Elf friend! :rose:

Just one small thing - maybe a sign saying "men/women at work" when the outhouse is occupied for more conventional activities (eg squatting????) to save me running into things would be good.......

*laughing* I think we can arrange something like that. We wouldn't want any 'accidents' of that variety. I guess it all just 'Depends' on your point of view, but I could see how that kind of thing would be an unpleasant surprise for you. As they said on Finding Nemo, 'All drains lead to the sea'.

Thanks!!! In the meantime I'll keep my mouth closed while travelling to visit you....

*good to see her laughing*

And don't mention Finding Nemo - they promised me the lead in that and then reneged when they found a cuter talking fish!

*Propping open the door on the humble little shack, letting it air out. It's been a while since I've visited, and it's always a good place for thinking. Tonight I have a few things to ponder. One of the things weighing on my mind is how to be of comfort to a friend who seems to be hurting, or another who faces difficulties in her life. Sometimes all I can do is offer hugs and comfort in the limited way that this form of interaction provides. It doesn't seem like enough.

*The Fish is cruisin' around today and hopes to say hi to his land based Elfin friend*

Hi Thyri

You in there?

*knock knock*

(Ooops! I'm sorry Fish, I was catching up on posts and this one slipped by I think. I only noticed after you signed off. So sorry!)

No worries! I just had to step out to take some photos. Have to go out again soon.

How are you?

I've told you what I think of your post, regardless of what you think ;)

I'm in better shape than last night, and basically happy. I just had HoHos! :D

I'm glad you like my post. It took me long enough, and I just thought that for that much time, it should have been better. But we'll move on from this point.

Good - and HoHos seem to have a positive effect on you. I looked them up the last time you spoke about them (ie all the time! :) ) and they look like heart attack material!!!

Yes - you are a harsh judge of your own work. I liked it - I think it did the job it was supposed to do. We'll move on.

Just fucking do better next time! ;)

Have to go to tennis - must admit, the cottage is a little more upscale, but this has an aromatic charm ! :)

Bye for now
