cryptic? it is subbed, as in submitted, as in the words have been entered into the box the special submit button was pressed and a file was separately sent.

okay, smart ass. LOL
when you only get 2 hours sleep the night before and it's 1 am and you're still awake and not feeling well, everything has a cryptic quality.

no audios here. i don't know how to make them, but I need to learn.

btw, my Valentine's Day story score is hovering around a hefty 3.8. wow! I hate the seasonal contests.

LOL

ETA:
oops.. the score is actually up to a super impressive 3.97!
sigh.

I have to learn how to do audio as well. I am afraid to record my voice. I might write one for my kid to read.

Hey why don't you link your Valentines Story on your sig line? Come on pimp that work a bit!

I really hate recording my own voice, but I take that as a result of my fine-tuned self-criticism. On the last day of speech class in college, the professor told me that she hoped I would do something with my voice, like radio or something of that nature. Men often comment on my voice. I really don't "see" it. I don't like the sound of my voice, but hey, whatever.

The sig line plug might not be a bad idea. I wanted to trim my sig anyway.

Okay, if you insist:
A few years ago I had a few spare bucks and bought an 8-track recorder. With a couple guitars and a bass and and couple mics and the built-in drum machine and the effects... I could mess around with that stuff every day and every night, and all day and all night, and never get tired of it.

Whether anyone beyond immediate family members would care to listen to any of it? That's an entirely different matter. :)

Doing such a thing with the Audio Poetry in mind has long been attractive. But it's tricky. I found it hard to fit in the words. Didn't work to read them. Seems like they have to be almost memorized or part memorized, part read, and part ad-libbed. And sometimes just for messing around I'll pick out a poem I had here, but it almost never works reading it as it was written, has to be practically all redone.

Anyway, earlier, I think something not so awful was made. Whether anyone else would agree is again another matter. :)

We'll see.

the idea of exposing such an intimate part of yourself, like your voice, brings out the jitters for sure. Big time.

I'm sure it's impressive. I look forward to hearing it.

Is my sig okay?
I'm tempted to take my paintings out, but geez, I like them, ya know?

I know what you mean, but it's kinda funny though-- cuz normally, the voice would be one of the very first exposures to new people.

Looks good-- Why don't you leave in one painting and then rotate them? If you have too much, it distracts people from the one big click you want them to make.

Which I will do but I must to bed.

zzzz

hmmmnmmm can't wait to hear your voice....

looks fine. I read earlier today, voted... and I vote you leave the paintings, unless you don't want to.

I wish I would do what's on my tagged profile--
I have one widget thingy that shows my pics one at a time, but not like a slide show. I don't know how to describe it. The pic partially overlap in the widget box.
I have my pic, ATL falcons logo, and pics of a couple paintings in that widget.

Now, I've been thinking a lot about time, so it's bound to come up.

Geez!
I forgot you can just look at my Tagged profile. I look like I'm high in that pick and my hair is longer now, but it would give you an idea. The pic is 2 years old at the most.

Sweet dreams!

I can see now why you get asked for an ID you look about 16! Like the paintings of the blue mountain range and view through a window by the way

16? LOL
So, your saying when the doctor who was supposed to examine my daughter couldn't tell which one of us was the sixteen yo, he wasn't being a total goob? LOL

As far as audio, I'm almost positive that it's okay to have someone record it for you. I think it was Lauren who told someone at the regular survivor contest that it was okay to do that.

I am saying that ........ have you got a portrait in the attic?

no, you seriously look like you are 16. Brat. ;)

Funny you should say that, no I do not have a portrait in the attic, nor do I have an attic per se. (The 3rd floor of my house is a 4th bedroom.) Within 6' of where I'm sitting are three antique portraints of people from the Irish side of my family... the family that refuses to age. However, one of the pics is of a child- and it never aged, so.. LOL

Ok, Annie.. thanks for creeping me out. LOL

don't be hatin'! LOL

It's funny. When I was younger, I looked older than I was. I think I've been carded more during my 30's than I did in my 20's. (I think they keep getting more strict with carding too.)

But, I see the same thing with my kids. My older son is 11. He's already about 5' 6" and his voice has already changed. By summer, I bet he'll be taller than I am. (I'm 5'7".) He resembles the Scottish side of my family.

My youngest, my Baby Bear, is also very big for his age. He's 9. He's more "football player" big... takes after the Irish side of my family. Both boys have been in men-sized shoes since they were 6 years old. Of course, my family jokes that my kids were born half-grown.

Kids. LOL Gotta love them.
I am truly blessed.

seeing as you are in here can you tell me if this is haiku please

an old garden
seedlings grown tall
a flower blooms

Haiku checklist:

less than 17 syllables- check
season word- "blooms"- likely reference to Spring
2 images- check
one moment in time- I think so.
no value judgments- I'm not sure if "old" would be considered a value judgment
no anthropomorphism- check

For the sake of the contest, it is absolutely fine since Lauren only mentions the 1st 3 criteria for haiku.

If it was my haiku and I wanted to use the word "old," i'd look for another way to say it. Maybe a way that is more descriptive than subjective judgment.

For example, you could include the image of a stone garden wall worn by weather or overgrown path to show neglect over time.. a nice image would say more and be better than the word "old."

I really like how you are contrasting the old garden with the new (flower blooms). Well done!

ETA:
Those are pretty cliche, but I just wanted to give you some quick examples.

And, let me just say, I really love your attitude. You have been really working on learning these new forms in the true spirit of poetry and not just trying to rack up points. :)

Actually when trying to pad out the first line I put in old because the one everyone quotes about the frog jumping in starts off about an old pond!

noticed the crutch reference

I would card you.

What a passel of poems today! Lost count after 20-some. But no sweat. Got all day. All day.

Oh, well, there ya go then! I guess "old" is fine. LOL

I like "old" or an image implying age, including your use of "grown," in yours because it contrasts with the blooms.

I just got back from picking my daughter up from school. I stopped and attempted again to buy cigs. Got carded again, but talked the clerk into going by what it says on the ID instead of scanning it through the register. Yea! I got cigs! LOL
