There is also often a difference between what people say broke them apart and what really did... it is easier to say it was infidelity of one sort or another than some of the other possibilities.

the idea attracts
the task is formidable

a point in the survivor favor: I tend to keep going back to the old and tinker and redo and rework and rehash and resubmit and so on... but of course all the survivor entries (and the special contests) have to be fresh and new. So that's good for getting out of the same old routes. Same thing for the Poetry Survivor. I dabbled with a few sonnets back in 07 and really they were kinda fun, there was a certain feel to them.

So it's hard to break that tendency to go back to the familiar but it's a good to go ahead and submit to the stimulation of the new and venture into a few Unknowns. The mind I mean, stimulating the mind.

But I do still like some of those older ones; they were never finished and I still get new development ideas with them. What's one to do?

Perhaps you could go back and re-read some of the familiar, take pieces from them and re-work them into new...
If you submitted them to Lit, you could even use the lift a line trigger

But there is something to be said for New Stimulation. Both have a place. Yes.

btw, her post was a response to my post on the subject in which I was talking about the Id. Some woman posted that she recently decided to leave her husband cuz she caught him looking for sex on Craig's List. Personally, I have never looked at Craig's List at all. I've heard of it many times. I have, on occasion, thought about looking at it just to see what everyone's talking about. The woman said that her husband said he was just looking at it. And I thought to myself-- damn.. what if that really is all he was doing?

Anyway, she was asking which- Id, ego, or superego was responsible for her pain and feelings of betrayal. I posted an explanation that it's all three... and explained how each part probably contributed. I also mentioned that the Id contains instinctual drives for everyone, but people vary on what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for them to act on.

Hence the woman's response that some things are just evil.... :rolleyes:

Craigslist is kind of like the classified section of a newspaper, bulletin board style.


Say you have a dog crate that you are no longer using. You post it in the For Sale section and then people who want it email you-- you make arrangements (usually to drop it off or they pick it up) and voila!

There are also "free" and "barter" sections as well as Jobs Wanted/Offered.


I bought most all of my baby stuff on craigslist, as well as a dining room set, Pokemon collection, used DS cartridges, tons of books.... Careful, it is addicting!

There is also a personals section where you can post whatever you have to offer or whatever you are looking for. Of course, not everyone is for real there.


In some ways, better than Craigslist is Freecycle. Not sure how global that movement is yet, but I love it. I give away all of Harrys stuff as he outgrows it, as I would rather pass it on than try to sell it. I freecycled a bunch of scrap metal to two artists in Austin. All good.

I think I might start a thread about how to get through the economic downturn....

You may or may not want to know that you've been a driving force that kickstarted something that may just be a submittable submission. And it looks like the angle might bear a tiny grain of similarity to yours. Gonna settle into a comfortable pace. Alll week. Got allll week. Thanks. :rose:

My sister was looking at CraigsList and she called me to ask what "420" means. I have no idea.

It's funny how these things keep connecting.. like I never talked to my sister about CraigsList, then someone mentions it at school, then I mention it here, not my sister is asking me about it.

I've had a lot of that happening lately.

oh my all this talk about puffin and passin and 420...

you know, by the time the seventies were over there weren't too many really original riffs left. So I don't know if it's really possible nowadays for something to not sound like something familiar or break entirely free from those influences, those seeds... especially if that's what you grew up on.:)

the response/acceptance is indeed oh so sweet
I'll not deny I got the heavy duty jitters when I saw it had been posted.
